Iftheoriginalpurchaserresellsortransfersthisproducttoanythirdpartywithin3yearssincethedateof
purchase,thenthewarrantyperiodshallbe3yearsstartingfromthedatesuchproductispurchasedfromUNI‐T
oritsauthorizeddistributor.Probe,fuseandotheraccessoriesarenotsubjecttothiswarranty.
Iftheproductisprovedtobedefectiveduringtheapplicablewarrantyperiod,UNI‐Tmay,atitsdiscretion,
determineeithertorepairitwithoutchargingthecostforpartsandlabororreplaceitwithanequivalentproduct
(atourdiscretion).Theparts,modulesorreplacementsthatareusedforwarrantypurposecanbebrandnew
onesorrepairedbutfunctionallyequivalenttonewproducts.Allreplacedparts,modulesorproductsare
propertiesofUNI‐T.
TheusershereinafterreferredtointhisManualareindividualsorentitieshavingrightsexpressively
stipulatedinthiswarranty.Inordertohavethepromisedserviceunderthiswarranty,usersmustreportdefectto
UNI‐Twithintheapplicablewarrantyperiod,includingmakingproperarrangementfortheperformanceofsuch
service.Theusersshallberesponsibleinpackagingthedefectiveproductanddeliversittoamaintenancecenter
assignedbyUNI‐TwithfreightprepaidandprovisionoftheduplicateoftheoriginalCertificateofPurchaseowned
bytheoriginalpurchaser.Iftheproductistobedeliveredtoaplacewithintheboundaryofthecountry,where
ourmaintenancecenterislocated,UNI‐Tshallpaythecostincurredinreturningtheproducttotheusers.
However,ifsuchproducthastobereturnedtoanyotherplace,theusersshallpayallthefreight,tariff,taxorany
otherexpense.
Thiswarrantyisnotapplicabletoanydefect,failureordamagecausedbyaccident,normalwearofparts,
useofproductinsuchapplicationswhicharebeyondthescopeofuseforsuchproduct,improperuseor
improperorinsufficientmaintenanceorservice.Accordingtothiswarranty,UNI‐Tisnotobligedtoprovideanyof
thefollowingservices:
a)Repairanydamagecausedbyinstallation,repairingormaintenanceunlessitisconductedbyan
authorizedservicerepresentative;
b)Repairanydamagecausedbyimproperuseorconnectionwithanyincompatibleequipment;
c)RepairanydamageorfailurecausedbytheuseofapowerwhichisnotprovidedbyUNI‐T.
d)Repairmodifiedorproductthathasbeenintegratedintootherproduct(ifsuchmodificationor
integrationmayincreasethetimespenttorepairormakeitdifficulttorepair).

OnceyouhavetheUnitinhand,first,youneedtounderstanditsfrontpanel.Thischapterprovidesbrief
descriptionandintroductionoftheoperationandfunctionsofthefrontpanelofUTD2000CMseriesinstruments,
sothatyoumaygetfamiliarwiththeoperationofUTD2000CMSeriesDigitalStorageOscilloscope.
UTD2000CMofferssimpleandfunctionallyclearfrontpaneltousersfortheirbasicoperations.Knobswithsimilar
functionsliketheyhaveonotherdigitalstorageoscilloscope,aswellasfunctionkeysarelocatedonthepanel.
Thefivekeyslocatedattherightsideofthedisplayaremenuoperationkeys(FromtoptobottomareF1toF5.)
Throughthem,youcandomenusetupaccordingly.Otherkeysarefunctionkeys,throughwhichyoucanenter
intodifferentfunctionmenuoraccessaspecificfunctiondirectly.

1.2InitialSettings
Thefollowingproceduresexplainhowtoverifythenormaloperationofthisunitrapidly,howtocompensate
thepassiveprobeusingbuilt‐incompensatingsignal,howtorunthecompensationprogramforsignalpath
(self‐correcting)soastoobtainmaximizedsignalaccuracy,andhowtosettimeanddate.
■Allinitialsetupproceduresshouldbeperformedwhenthisunitisusedforthefirsttime;
■Probecompensatingadjustmentshouldbedonewhentheprobeisconnectedtoanyinputchannelforthe
firsttime;
■Self‐correctingprogramshouldberunwhenthechangeinambienttemperaturereaches5℃ormore.
1.3GeneralCheck
BeforeusinganewUTD2000CMSeriesDigitalStorageOscilloscope,youarerecommendedtocheckit
accordingtothestepslistedbelow.
Checkifthereisanydamagecausedbytransportation:
Incaseyoufindthepackagingcartonorpolyfoamcushionhasanyseriousdamage,pleasecontacttheUNI‐T
distributorwhosellsitimmediately.
Checkaccessories:
Wehavemadedetaileddescriptionoftheaccessoriesthatcomewiththisinstrumentin“Accessoriesof
UTD2000CMDigitalStorageOscilloscope”,asstatedearlierinthisManual.Youcanrefertothistocheckwhether
thereisanymissingaccessory.Incaseyoufindanymissingordamagedaccessory,pleasecontacttheUNI‐T
distributorwhosellsitorlocalrepresentativeofficeofUNI‐T.
Checkthewholeinstrument:
Incasetheinstrumentisfoundhavingdamagedhousing,workingimproperlyortohavefailedthe

Whentheproductisdamagedduetothetransit,keepthepackageandinformtheshippingagencyand
UNI‐TdistributorandtheUNI‐Tdistributorwillarrangethemaintenanceorreplacementforyou.
Functionalcheck
Doafastfunctionalchecktoknowiftheinstrumentcanworkproperly.
Pleasefollowthefollowingsteps:
1.Powersupply:100V~240V,45Hz~440Hz.Turnonthepowerswitchaftertheunitisconnectedtopower.
Pressthesoftstartkeylocatedonthefrontpanelandwaitfortheunittostartnormally.
2.ConnecttheoutputterminaloftheprobestoChannel1,whileconnecttheirinputterminaltosignal
connectpieceforPROBECOMP.
3.PressAUTOkey,thenasquarewaveshouldbeshownonthedisplayer(approximately3Vpp,1KHz)
4.PressCH1keyforoncetoshutchannel1off,andpressCH2foroncetoturnchannel2on.
5.PressUTILITYkeyfirst,thenpressF5andF2oneafteranothertoenterintoAutostrategy.Turnonall
setupsandrepeatstep2and3.
1.4ProbeCompensation
Followingadjustmentmustbeconductedwhentheprobesareconnectedtoanyinputchannelforthefirst
time,sothattheycanbematchedwiththeinputchannel.Probesthathavenotundergonesuchcompensating
correctionmayresultinmeasurementerrororwrongmeasurement.Incaseyouneedtoadjusttheprobe
compensation,pleasefollowthefollowingsteps:
1. Settheattenuationcoefficientinprobemenuto10×andturntheswitchontheprobeto10×,and
thenconnecttheprobestochannel1.Incasehookheadsareusedontheprobes,theyshouldbe
ensuredtohavereliablecontactwiththeprobes.Connectthetipoftheprobetosignaloutput
connectoroftheprobecompensator,theearthclamptogroundwireendoftheprobe
compensationconnectpiece,afterthat,turnonchannel1andthenpressAUTOkey.

compensation,youcanuseanadjustingpenwithnon‐metalhandletoadjustthevariable
capacitanceinstalledontheprobetillawaveformastheoneindicatingcorrectcompensationis

1.5RunAutoCalibrationProgram
Runningautocalibrationprogramcanrealizethebestaccuracyofinstrument.Youcanrunthisoperationat
anytime.Butitisamustwheneverthechangesinambienttemperaturereaches5℃ormore.
Torunautocalibrationprogram,pleasefollowthefollowingsteps.
1.Disconnectallprobesorpowercablesfromthechannel’sinputconnector;
2.PressUTILITYkey;
3.PressF1keytoselect“systemconfiguration”displayedattherightofthedisplayer;
4.PressF1keytoselect“autocalibrationprogram”;
5.Pressmulti‐functionknobtoconfirmtheexecutionofautocalibrationprogram,anditmaytakeseveral
minutestocompletethisprocess.
1.6AutoSetupforWaveformDisplay
Thisinstrumenthasautosetupfunctionthatcanautoadjusttheverticalscalecoefficient,timebaseand
triggermodeinaccordancewiththeinputsignaluntilthemostappropriatewaveformhasbeendisplayed.It
requiresthefrequencyofthesignalundertesttobenolessthan40Hzandthedutyratiotobemorethan1%.
Autosetupsteps:
1.Connectthesignalundertesttosignalinputchannel;
2.PressAUTOkeysothatitwillautoadjusttheverticalscalecoefficient,timebaseandtriggermode.Incaseyou
needtohaveclearerobservation,whenautosetupcompletes,pleaseperformmanualadjustmentuntilyouget
thebestwaveformdisplayingeffectthatyouwant.
1.7SetTimeandDate
Tosettimeanddate,pleasefollowthefollowingsteps:
1.PressUTILITYkey;
2.PressF1toenterinto“SystemConfiguration”.
3.Whilein“SystemConfiguration”,pressF4toselect“timesetup”.Thenusemenukeyslocatedtotherightride

statusinformationforthecorrespondingchannel.
MeasurementSkills:
IfchannelcouplingmethodisDC,youcanmeasurethesignal’sDCcomponentswiftlyby
observingthedistancebetweenwaveformandelectricallevelofthesignalearth.
IfthecouplingmethodisAC,DCcomponentcontainedinthesignalwillthenbefiltered,
whichmakeiteasierforyoutodisplaytheACcomponentusinghighersensitivity.

Triggerpoint:itreferstothepositionofactualtriggerpointrelativetomidpointofthememory.Turnthe
horizontal“POSITION”knobtomovethetriggerpointinhorizontaldirection.
Triggerholdoff:Itreferstotheintervalbetweenthegenerationofatriggerandtherestartoftriggercircuit
nexttime.Triggerholdoffcanbeadjustedbyturning“MULTIPURPOSE”knob,whichisintendedfor
observingcompositeorcomplicatedsignal.
