Observe the required protective measures when handling the
sample!

Do not handle depleted batteries or leaking material with bare
hands! Wear protective gloves! Avoid contact with the eyes
and skin!
WARNING!
Breakage of glass. Danger of cutting injuries.
Despite protection from the transport packaging, breakage of
glass can occur during transport. The resulting broken shards
may have sharp edges and could cause cutting injuries when
handled carelessly. Look out for broken glass when unpack-
ing, and wear protective gloves.
When handling the system, always ensure a firm grip in order
to avoid breakage of glass!
Do not strike the test bottles against edged during transport
of the system!

Reagents are intended for chemical analysis only and must be
kept out of the hands of children!

Unpacking
Carefully inspect all items to ensure that every part of the list below is present and no visible
damage has occurred during shipment. If there is any damage or something is missing, please
contact your local distributor immediately.
Set up
Before working with the photometer insert the batteries (delivery contents).

CAUTION:
To ensure that the instrument is water proof:
• seal ring (E) must be in position
• battery compartment cover (B) must be fixed with the four screws
If the batteries are removed for more than one minute the date and time menu starts auto-
matically when the photometer is switched on the next time.
Intended use
MCT 100 is a photometer for determining the concentration of water contents. The MCT 100
Photometer is only used for determining 4 parameters. Always adhere to the limits specified
in chapter “Technical Data”. To ensure correct and intended usage, the instructions, especially
the “Important Safety Information”, have to be read and understood.
The instrument is not used as intended if
• it is used in application areas not stated in these instructions.
• it is used in conditions which deviate from the ones described in these instructions.

The safety instructions in this operating manual must be observed.
The instrument may only be used under the conditions and for the purposes for which it
was designed.
The instrument must be handled with care (do not throw, drop, etc.) and used in accordance
with the technical data. It must be protected against soiling.

Operational keys
Switch the unit on using the [ON/OFF] key.
The display shows the following:
Select the required test using the [MODE] key.
Scroll Memory (SM)
To avoid unnecessary scrolling for the required test method, the in-
strument memorizes the last method used before being switched off.
When the instrument is switched on again, the scroll list comes up with
the last used test method first.
The display shows the following:
Fill a clean vial with the water sample up to the 10 ml mark, screw
the cap on and place the vial in the sample chamber making sure that
the marks are aligned.
Press the [ZERO/TEST] key (see OTZ).
The "Method" symbol flashes for approx. 8 seconds.
The display shows the following:
After zero calibration is completed, remove the vial from the sample
chamber. The characteristic coloration appears after the addition of
the reagents.
Replace the cap on the vial and place in the sample chamber making
sure that the marks are aligned.
Press the [ZERO/TEST] key.

The "Method" symbol flashes for approx. 3 seconds.
The result appears in the display.
The result is saved automatically.
Repeating the test:
Press the [ZERO/TEST] key again.
OTZ (One Time Zero):
The zero setting is held in memory until the instrument is switched
off. It is not necessary to perform a new zero each time, if the water
samples under test are from the same body of water and the conditions
of testing are the same.
The zero setting can be repeated each time if necessary.
Repeating the zero:
Press the [ZERO/TEST] key for 2 seconds.
