Charging
Charging of round cells:
The charger has three function keys:
1. MODE button
Press the "MODE" button within eight seconds of
inserting 1–4 batteries to select one of the following
charging programs:
— CHARGE: Battery is being charged. After fully
charging, there is an automatic switchover to
pulsed oat charging.
— DISCHARGE: Discharging/charging for the
minimisation of the "memory eect".
— REFRESH: Multiple discharges/charges to re-
fresh the battery.
— TEST: Charging/discharging to determine ca-
pacity in mAh/Ah and then charge up again.
2. CURRENT button
Press the "CURRENT" button within eight seconds of
selecting the charging program or after inserting the
last battery to select the charging current for the pro-
gram "CHARGE" or "TEST" and the discharge cur-
rent for the program "DISCHARGE" or "REFRESH".
3. DISPLAY button
Press the "DISPLAY" button during charging/dis-
charging to display the charge/discharge current
(in mA), the battery voltage (in V), the charge/
discharge capacity (in mAh or Ah) or the lapsed
charging/discharging time (in hh:mm).
3Once eight seconds has lapsed, the charging
process starts automatically with the following
pre-set parameters.
If no settings have been made through the function
keys, the indicator in the LCD ashes automatically
once batteries have been inserted.
3The battery voltage is displayed in volts, as well
as the pre-set charging program "CHARGE" and
the pre-set charging current of 600 mA.
Charging 9 V batteries:
■9 V batteries can be charged if no D size battery
round cells are inserted to the left and right of the
9 V charging slot [2].
■When inserting a 9 V block, check the polarity
corresponds to the symbol in the charging
slot [2].
3The charge indicator (LED) next to the charging
slot [2] for the 9 V block lights up red once the
battery has been inserted properly.
3The battery is charged with a gentle charging
current of approx. 15 mA.
3After roughly 24 hours, charging is automatically
terminated. The LED lights up green. The battery
is charged and is supplied with a oat charge for
the period it remains in the device.
■If the display ashes red, the battery has an
internal short-circuit and can be disposed of.
Charging slot buttons (Fig. I]
Individual settings can be congured for each bat-
tery using the four charging slot buttons [5].
■Press the relevant charging slot button [5] be-
neath the charging slot.
3The display for this battery ashes.
■Congure the settings for the individual charging
slot using "MODE" and/or "CURRENT".
■When charging one or two batteries in the outer
charging slots [2], the charging current can be
set to up to 1,500 or 1,800 mA with the "CUR-
RENT" button with the programs "CHARGE" and
"TEST".
3In this case, the two inner charging slots do not
have any function.
■When loading three or four batteries, the
charging current can be set to 400 mA, 600 mA
or 800 mA.
■With the programs "DISCHARGE" and "RE-
FRESH", the batteries are rst discharged. That is
why you can choose between discharge currents
of 200 mA, 300 mA or 400 mA.
3During the subsequent charging process, the
charging current is then twice as high as the
selected discharge current.
3A few minutes before the batteries are fully
charged up, the charger reduces the charging
current to approx. 200 mA, irrespective of the
charging current previously selected.
This gentle full-charging extends the service life of
your batteries.
3After every charge/discharge performed, the
charger schedules a short break for battery con-
servation before the selected charging/discharg-
ing program is continued.
