1 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The operating instructions contain important information.
▶Read the operating instructions carefully and follow the safety
instructions in particular, and also observe the operating
conditions.
▶Operating instructions must be available to each user.
▶The liability and warranty for the device are void if the operating
instructions are not followed.
1.1 Symbols

2 INTENDED USE
Incorrect use of the solenoid valve Type 6240 can be dangerous
to people, nearby equipment and the environment.
▶The device is designed to control, shut o and meter neutral media
up to a viscosity of 21 mm2/s.
▶Provided the cable plug is connected and installed correctly, e.g.
Bürkert Type 2508, the device satises protection class IP65 in
accordance with DIN EN 60529 / IEC 60529.
▶Use according to the permitted data, operating conditions and
conditions of use specied in the contract documents and operat-
ing instructions.
▶Correct transportation, correct storage and installation and careful
use and maintenance are essential for reliable and problem-free
operation.
▶Use the device only as intended.
2.1 Denition of term
In these operating instructions, the term “device” always refers to
the Type 6240.

Risk of injury due to malfunction of valves with alternating
current (AC).
Sticking core causes coil to overheat, resulting in a malfunction.
▶Monitor process to ensure function is in perfect working order.

manner.
3 BASIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
These safety instructions do not make allowance for any contingencies
and events which may arise during installation, operation and
maintenance.

vent the lines.

▶Before reaching into the system, switch o the power supply
and secure to prevent reactivation.

▶Keep the device away from highly ammable substances and
media and do not touch with bare hands.

5 INSTALLATION

Medium leaking through damaged connections.
▶Do not damage sealing surfaces of the body connections.
Danger due to unsuitable screw connections.
▶Use compatible screw connections only.
→Check pipelines for dirt and clean.
→Install a dirt lter before the valve inlet (0,2...0,4 mm).
Installation position: any, actuator preferably upwards.
NOTE!
Caution risk of breakage.
▶Do not use the coil as a lever arm.
Valve body must not be installed under tension.
Sealing material must not get into the device.
→Seal the pipe connection with an elastomer seal or PTFE tape.
Ensure that no sealing material gets into the device.
→Observe direction of ow: from 1 → 2 (from P → A).
→Hold the device with a open-end wrench on the body and screw
into the pipeline.
5.1 Installation of coil
WARNING!
Risk of escape of media.
When a sticking nut is loosened, medium may escape.
▶Do not tighten sticking nut any further.
Risk of injury due to electrical shock.
If the protective conductor contact between the coil and body is
missing, there is danger of electrical shock.
▶During installation insert the plastic ring into the body journal. The
plastic ring must not project over the octagonal nipple.
▶Check protective conductor contact after installing the coil.
Overheating, risk of re.
If the coil is connected without a pre-installed valve, the coil will
overheat and be destroyed.
▶Connect the coil with a pre-installed valve only.

6 MAINTENANCE, TROUBLESHOOTING

7 SPARE PARTS

Incorrect accessories and unsuitable spare parts may cause injuries
and damage the device and the surrounding area.

8 TRANSPORT, STORAGE, DISPOSAL
NOTE!
Transport damages.
Inadequately protected equipment may be damaged during
transport.

shock-resistant packaging.
▶Avoid exceeding or dropping below the allowable storage
temperature.
Incorrect storage may damage the device.
▶Store the device in a dry and dust-free location.

Damage to the environment caused by device components con-
taminated with media.
▶Dispose of the device and packaging in an environmentally
friendly manner.

2 BESTIMMUNGSGEMÄSSER GEBRAUCH
Bei nicht bestimmungsgemäßem Einsatz des Magnetventils
Typ6240 können Gefahren für Personen, Anlagen in der
Umgebung und die Umwelt entstehen.
▶Das Gerät ist zum Steuern, Absperren und Dosieren von neutralen
Medien bis zu einer Viskosität von 21 mm2/s konzipiert.
▶Mit einer sachgemäß angeschlossenen und montierten Geräte-
steckdose, z. B. Bürkert Typ 2508 erfüllt das Gerät die Schutzart
IP65 nach DIN EN 60529 / IEC 60529.
▶Für den Einsatz die in den Vertragsdokumenten und der Bedie-
nungsanleitung spezizierten zulässigen Daten, Betriebs- und
Einsatzbedingungen beachten.
▶Voraussetzungen für den sicheren und einwandfreien Betrieb sind
sachgemäßer Transport, sachgemäße Lagerung und Installation
sowie sorgfältige Bedienung und Instandhaltung.
▶Das Gerät nur bestimmungsgemäß einsetzen.
2.1 Begrisdenition
In dieser Anleitung bezeichnet der Begri „Gerät“ immer das Magnet-
ventil Typ 6240.

ausfall führt.

Austritt von Medium durch beschädigte Anschlüsse.
▶Dichtächen der Gehäuseanschlüsse nicht beschädigen.
Gefahr durch ungeeignete Verschraubungen.
▶Nur zueinander passende Verschraubungen verwenden.
→Rohrleitungen von eventuellen Verschmutzungen reinigen.
→Bei verschmutztem Medium vor dem Ventileingang einen
Schmutzlter einbauen (Maschenweite 0,2...0,4 mm).
Die Einbaulage ist beliebig, vorzugsweise Antrieb oben.
HINWEIS
Vorsicht Bruchgefahr.
▶Spule nicht als Hebelarm benutzen.
Ventilgehäuse nicht verspannt einbauen.
Dichtmaterial darf nicht in das Gerät gelangen.
→Die Rohrverbindung mit Elastomerdichtung oder PTFE-Band
abdichten. Dabei darauf achten, dass kein Dichtmaterial in das
Gerät gelangt.
→Die Durchussrichtung beachten: von 1 → 2 (von P → A).
→Das Gerät mit einem Gabelschlüssel am Gehäuse festhalten und
in die Rohrleitung einschrauben.
5.1 Montage der Spule
WARNUNG
Verletzungsgefahr durch Mediumsaustritt.
Beim Lösen einer festsitzenden Mutter kann Medium austreten.
▶Festsitzende Mutter nicht weiter drehen.
Verletzungsgefahr durch Stromschlag.
Bei fehlendem Schutzleiterkontakt zwischen Spule und Gehäuse
besteht die Gefahr des Stromschlags.
▶Die Verdrehsicherung (Kunststoring) muss bei der Montage in
den Gehäusezapfen eintauchen. Sie darf axial nicht über den
Achtkantnippel herausragen.
▶Schutzleiterkontakt nach der Spulenmontage prüfen.
Überhitzung, Brandgefahr.
Der Anschluss der Spule ohne vormontiertes Ventil führt zur Über-
hitzung und zerstört die Spule.
▶Spule nur mit vormontiertem Ventil anschließen.

5.2 Elektrischer Anschluss der

ten und vor Wiedereinschalten sichern.
▶Die geltenden Unfallverhütungs- und Sicherheitsbestimmungen
für elektrische Geräte beachten.
Bei nicht angeschlossenem Schutzleiter besteht die Gefahr eines
Stromschlags.
▶Schutzleiter immer anschließen.
▶Elektrischen Durchgang zwischen Spule und Gehäuse prüfen.
→Gerätesteckdose (zugelassene Typen siehe Datenblatt) fest-
schrauben, dabei maximales Drehmoment 1 Nm beachten.
→Korrekten Sitz der Dichtung überprüfen.
→Schutzleiter anschließen und elektrischen Durchgang zwischen
Spule und Gehäuse prüfen.

WARNUNG
Verletzungsgefahr bei unsachgemäßen Wartungsarbeiten.
▶Die Wartung darf nur autorisiertes Fachpersonal mit geeignetem
Werkzeug durchführen.
Verletzungsgefahr durch ungewolltes Einschalten der Anlage und
unkontrollierten Wiederanlauf.
▶Anlage vor unbeabsichtigtem Betätigen sichern.
▶Nach der Wartung einen kontrollierten Wiederanlauf gewährleisten.
6.1 Störungen
Bei Störungen überprüfen ob
•das Gerät vorschriftsmäßig installiert ist,
•der Anschluss ordnungsgemäß ausgeführt ist,
•das Gerät nicht beschädigt ist,
•alle Schrauben angezogen sind,
•Spannung und Druck anliegen,
•die Rohrleitungen schmutzfrei sind.
Falls der Magnet nicht anzieht
Mögliche Ursache:
•Kurzschluss oder Spulenunterbrechung
•Kern oder Kernraum verschmutzt

7 ERSATZTEILE
VORSICHT
Verletzungsgefahr, Sachschäden durch falsche Teile.
Falsches Zubehör und ungeeignete Ersatzteile können Verletzungen
und Schäden am Gerät und dessen Umgebung verursachen.
▶Nur Originalzubehör sowie Originalersatzteile der Firma Bürkert
verwenden.
▶Fluidischen Teil des Geräts nicht ohne Zustimmung des Herstel-
lers önen.

8 TRANSPORT, LAGERUNG,

Transportschäden.
Unzureichend geschützte Geräte können durch den Transport
beschädigt werden.
▶Gerät vor Nässe und Schmutz geschützt in einer stoßfesten
Verpackung transportieren.
▶Eine Über- oder Unterschreitung der zulässigen Lagertempera-
tur vermeiden.
Falsche Lagerung kann Schäden am Gerät verursachen.

2 UTILISATION CONFORME
L’utilisation non-conforme du type 6240 peut présenter des
dangers pour les personnes, les installations avoisinantes et
l’environnement.
▶L’appareil est conçu pour commander, arrêter et doser des uides
neutres jusqu’à une viscosité de 21 mm2/s.
▶Avec le connecteur adéquat, par ex. le type 2508 de Bürkert,
connectée et montée de manière conforme, l’appareil est conforme
au type de protection IP65 selon DIN EN 60529 / IEC 60529.
▶Lors de l’utilisation, il convient de respecter les données et condi-
tions d’utilisation et d’exploitation admissibles spéciées dans les
instructions de service et dans les documents contractuels.
▶Les conditions pour l’utilisation sûre et parfaite sont un transport,
