First feed the power cord and audio cable
through the top of the base, and out

holes in the base

Next place platter directly on the motor
Take the tonearm counterbalance out of its
styrofoam insert. Loosen the setscrew (10)
at the rear of the tonearm, and insert the
shaft of the counterbalance in the opening
provided for this purpose. The triangular
shaped notch of the shaft must point in
downward direction (Fig. 3.
Pages 20, 22 and 24 explain how to balance
the rm and then apply stylus pressure
and anti-skating

you on setting tracking pressure for the
cartridge already inserted in the unit

entnehmen Sie bitte dem separaten Daten

Nehmen Sie jetzt den Anschluß an den Wie
dergabe-Verstärker vor und verbinden Sie
das Netzkabel mit der Steckdose. Beachten
Sie bitte hierzu die separaten Hinweise in
dieser Anleitung.
Nachträglicher Transport
Der Plattenteller liegt ohne zusätzliche Si
cherung auf dem Rotor des elektronischen
Zentralantriebs und ist unbedingt vor jedem
Transport abzunehmen. Darüber hinaus sind
die Transportsicherungsschrauben entgegen
dem Uhrzeigersinn locker zu schrauben
hochzuziehen und durch Weiterdrehen fest
zuziehen (Fig. 2 C)
Achtung! Nach jedem Transport oder Einbau
soll das Gerät zur selbsttätigen Justierung
der Abstellautomatik bei verriegeltem Ton
arm einmal gestartet werden. Zur automa
tischen Einleitung der “Start”. bzw. “Stop”
Funktion ist die Steuertaste (19) in jeder
Richtung stets bis zum Anschlag zu drücken
Anschluß an das Wechselstromnetz
Bei Kombinationsgeráten beachten Sie bitte auch
die Hinweise in der jeweiligen Bedienungsanleitung
Das Gerät kann an Wechselstrom 50 oder 60
Hz, 110 — 125 V oder 220 — 240 V ange
schlossen werden und ist im Normalfall auf
220 Volt eingestellt
Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Platten
spielermotoren (Wechselstrom-Motoren)
handelt es sich beim Antrieb dieses Gerätes
um einen elektronischen Motor, dessen Dreh
zahl von der Netzfrequenz unabhängig ist
Dieser Plattenspieler kann daher an Netzfre
quenzen von 50 oder 60 Hz ohne Umstellung
des Motors betrieben werden
Die Umstellung der Netzspannung bleibt
grundsätzlich dem Fachhändler oder einer
autorisierten Dual-Kundendienstwerkstätte
vorbehalten.

Later Transport
Important: the platter simply rests on the
rotor of the electronic direct drive and must
be removed prior to any transport. In addi
tion, the chassis must be secured to the base
with the transport safety screws. Loosen the
screws by turning them counter clockwise
then pull them up and tighten again by con
tinuing to turn them (Fig. 2 C)
Attention: After each transport or installa
tion, the unit must be started onec with the
tonearm in locked position for automatic
adjustment of the shut-off mechanism, To
initiate the automatic "Start" or "Stop
function, press the start switch (19) all the
way in each direction
Connection to AC Power Line
If you have a combination unit, please read its in
structions in addition to these
The unit can be operated from alternating
current at 50 or 60 Hz, 110 — 125 Volts or
220 — 240 Volts. It is normally supplied
ready for use on 220 V current
Unlike the conventional record player motors
(AC motors), the motor is electronically re
gulated; its speed is independent of the po
wer line frequency. This turntable can, the
refore, be operated on line frequencies of 50
or 60 Hz (cps) without any adjustment or
change of motor

Anschluß an den Verstärker
Bei Kombinationsgeráten (HiFi-Komplettanlagel
ist die Verbindung Plattenspieler — Verstárker in
der Regel bereits hergestellt.
Der HiFi-Automatikspieler kann mit DIN
Stecker (Fig. 5) oder RCA-(Cynch-) Stek
kern (Fig. 6) bestückt sein
Für den Fall, daß Ihr Steuergerät oder Wie-
dergabeverstärker für RCA-(Cynch-) Stecker
eingerichtet, der Plattenspieler jedoch mit
DIN-Stecker versehen ist — oder umge
kehrt — lassen Sie bitte von Ihrem Fach-
händler durch Austausch des kompletten
Tonabnehmerkabels eine Anpassung vor
nehmen

Vergessen Sie bitte nicht, beim Übergang
von DIN- auf Cynch-(RCA-) Stecker, Ver
stärker (Receiver) und Plattenspieler durch
eine zusätzliche Betriebserde zu verbinden
Wenn Ihr Stereo-Verstärker oder Steuergerät
keinen unmittelbaren Eingang für Magnet-
Tonabnehmersysteme aufweist ist ein Ent
zerrer-Vorverstärker erforderlich. Wir emp-
fehlen in diesem Fall den Dual TVV 47, der
mit steckbaren Anschlüssen ausgerüstet ist
Quadrofone Wiedergabe von CD4
Schallplatten
Für die Original-Wiedergabe von CD A Schall
platten ist dieser Plattenspieler durch die
niederkapazitive Tonabnehmer-Verdrahtung
bereits vorbereitet
Für die Vierkanal Wiedergabe von CD 4
Schallplatten in Verbindung mit einem CD
4-Demodulator wird noch ein Spezial-Ton-
abnehmersystem erforderlich, dessen Uber
tragungsbereich bis mindestens 45 kHz rei
chen sollte. Einzelheiten erfahren Sie beim
Fachhandel oder durch unsere Druckschrift
W 218. Spezial-CD 4-Tonabnehmersysteme
Connection to Amplifier
If you have a combination unit, the turntable and
amplifier are usually already connected.
The automatic turntable can be fitted with
DIN plug (Fig. 5) or RCA (Cynch) plugs
(Fig, 6)
If the playback amplifier is fitted with a
different plug connection adapters can be

with DIN plug — or vice versa — please ask
your dealer to remedy this by changing the

Dual audio cables are also equipped for plug,

To adapt DIN to Cynch (RCA) plugs connect
amplifier (receiver) to the turntable by an
additional ground
If your stereo amplifier or tuner has no
direct input for magnetic pick-up systems,
an equalizer-preamplifier is necessary
For this purpose we recommend the Dual
TVV 47, which has plug-in connections.
Quadraphonic Reproduction of CD 4
Records
Provision for reproduction of CD 4 records
has already been made on this turntable by
use of low-capacitance tonearm wiring
For four-channel reproduction of CD 4 re-
cords in combination with a CD 4 demodu
lator a special cartridge will still be necessary;
its frequency range should extend to at
least 45 kHz. Details can be obtained from
your dealer or from our publication W 218

Abdeckhaube
Gilt nicht, wenn Ihr Dual Plattenspieler Teil einer
HiFi-Komplettanlage ist
Die aus Transportsicherungsgründen separat
verpackte Abdeckhaube Ihres Gerátes wird
in Spezialscharnieren gelagert, die die Haube
in beliebiger Stellung uber der Konsole offen
halten. Dadurch wird nicht nur die Bedienung
des Plattenspie nfacht, sondern auch
die Unterbringung des Gerätes in flachen Re
galen, Bücherwänden und dergleichen mög
lich, Zum Aufsetzen der Abdeckhaube drehen
Sie bitte das Gerät so, daß sich die Spezial
scharniere leicht zugänglich vor Ihnen be
finden. Überzeugen Sie sich zuerst von der
Stellung der Einstecklaschen an den Schar
nieren, in die die Haube einzuschieben ist
bevor Sie die Abdeckhat parallel zu der
Stellung der Laschen an diese ansetzen und
satt eindrücken
In dieser Stellung (Öffnungswinkel ca. 600
läßt sich die Haube jederzeit auch wieder
abziehen
Sollte eine Korrektur des Entlastungsmo
mentes (Federkraft, die die Haube über der
Konsole hält) notwendig werden, kann dies
durch Drehen an den beiden Schrauben "В

Dust Cover
Disregard this section if your Dual record player is
part of a HiFi component system
The dust cover of your unit is packed sepa
rately for safe transport and provided with
special hinges which allow the cover to re
main open at any angle. This simplifies ope
ration of record player and also facilitates
accommodation of the complete unit in
bookshelves, consoles etc
For placing the dust cover turn the unit in
such a manner that the special hinges are
readily accessible. Make sure that the recei
ving sections of the hinges into which the
cover shall be pushed in are correctly posi
tioned (tilted at 609) before the dust cover
is paralleled to the position of the receptors

Cartridge
The following instructions are applicab!

This model will accept any cartridge weigh
ing from 4.5 — 10 g (including mounting
hardware) and having 1/2" spaced mounting
holes.

1. Zur Montage des Tonabnehmersystems
lósen Sie den Systemtráger (3) vom Tonarm
indem Sie den Tonarmgriff (2) nach hinten
drücken. Halten Sie dabei den Systemtráger
fest, da er nach Offnen der Verriegelung her
unterfällt
2. Befestigen Sie das Tonabnehmersystem
unter Verwendung des dem Tonabnehme
system beigefügten Zubehörs auf dem Sy
stemträger, Zu beachten ist, daß sich die Ab
tastnadelspitze - von oben betrachtet - mit
der V-förmigen Aussparung der S -
deckt (Fig. 13)
3. Die Anschlüsse am Systemträger und Топ.
abnehmersystem sind gekennzeichnet (Fig
15). Verbinden Sie die Anschlußlitzen des
Systemträgers mit den entsprechenden und
gleich gekennzeichneten Anschlußstiften des
Tonabnehmersystems

des Tonarmgriffes wieder mit dem Tonarm

Bitte prüfen Sie nach erfolgter Montage eines
Tonabnehmersystems auch die Hóhenstellung
des Tonarmes, die Höhe der Abtastnadel
über der Schallplatte bei Tonarmlift in Stel
lung ¥ sowie das Aufsetzen der Nadel in die
Einlaufrille der Schallplatte. Siehe Abschnit
te “Vertical tonearm control” (Seite 24),
"Tonarmlift'' (Seite 26) und “Justierung des
Tonarmaufsetzpunktes'' (Seite 30)

In normal use, every stylus is subject to wear

keit von der Rotor-Stellung über vier

reich der Tonarm- und der Platinenresonanz
Schwingungsenergie absorbiert.
Hierfür ist das innere Teilgewicht beim Ba
lancegewicht auf die Tonarm-Resonanz ab
gestimmt und wirkt durch gegenphasiges
Schwinaen als Anti-Resonator. Bei Anregung
des Tonarmes im Resonanzbereich, z B. durch
Schallplatten-Höhenschlag oder dergl., wer
den durch diese Anordnung Energiepende
lungen zwischen Tonarm und Anti-Resona
tor eleminiert. Der als höher abgestimmter
Anti-Resonator ausgebildete äußere Teil des
Balancegewichtes verhindert die Übertragung
von partiell auftretenden Platinen-Resonan-
zen auf den Tonarm. Die Auslegung des Ton
arm-Balancegewichtes als 2 x Anti-Resonator
bewirkt auch eine Vergrößerung des Stör
verhältnisses und damit des Rumpel-Ab
standes

tonearm counterbalance can increase tracking
ability considerably, namely when the tone:

For this reason, the inner section of the
counterbalance is tuned to the tonearm re
sonance and has, due to in-phase-opposed
vibrations, an anti-resonance effect. By exci
