Function and application
The two-hand control unit ZSB-1/8 is a
pneumatic AND module. The inputs P1
and P
2must both be pressurized one
after the other within max. 0.5 sec., in
order that a pressure impulse can be
triggered at output A. This is accom-
plished with two external 3/2-way finger
lever valves. Pressure remains applied
when both finger lever valves are ac-tu-
ated. If one or both finger lever valves
are not actuated, the output pressure at
A will be interrupted immediately and
the machine/system which is connected
will be exhausted via port R.
The pneumatic two-hand control unit is
designed to ensure that the operator
has both hands outside the working
range of the actuated machine and to
avoid unintentional actuation when
pneumatic processes are started.
Funktion und Anwendung
Der Zweihand-Steuerblock ZSB-1/8 ist
ein pneumatisches UND-Glied. Die Ein-
gänge P1und P2müssen innerhalb von
max. 0,5 sec. nacheinander belüftet
werden, um an Ausgang A einen
Druckimpuls auszulösen. Dies geschieht
durch zwei externe 3/2-Wege-Taster-
ventile. Der Druck steht an, solange bei-
de Tasterventile betätigt werden. Das
Loslassen eines oder beider Tasterven-
tile bewirkt eine sofortige Unterbrechung
des Ausgangsdrucks an A und die Ent-
lüftung der angeschlossenen Maschi-
ne/Anlage über den Anschluß R.
Der pneumatischen Zweihand-Steuer-
block wird bestimmungsgemäß einge-
setzt, um sicherzustellen, daß sich bei-
de Hände des Bedienpersonals außer-
halb der Arbeitszone der betätigten Ma-
schine befinden oder zur Vermeidung
einer unbeabsichtigten Betätigung beim
Starten pneumatischer Vorgänge.

Safety conditions
These general conditions for the correct
and safe use of the product must be ob-
served at all times.
•Compare the specified limit values
with your actual application.
The permitted limit values, e.g. for
pressures and moments must not be
exceeded.
•Ensure that there is a supply of cor-
rectly prepared lubricated com-
pressed air by means of a down-
stream fitted pressure sequence
valve of type VD-3-PK-3.
For preparing compressed air, use a
service unit of type FRC-... with a fil-
ter fineness of min. 40 µm.
Only then will the ZSB-1/8 fulfill the
requirements of a safety component
types I and III A as per prEN 574.
Voraussetzungen für den
Produkteinsatz
Allgemeine, stets zu beachtende Hin-
weise für den ordnungsgemäßen und si-
cheren Einsatz des Produkts:
•Vergleichen Sie die angegebenen
Grenzwerte mit Ihrem aktuellen Ein-
satzfall.
Die zulässigen Grenzwerte, z.B. für
Drücke und Momente dürfen nicht
überschritten werden.
•Sorgen Sie für ordnungsgemäß auf-
bereitete, geölte Druckluft mit einem .
nachgeschalteten Druckschaltventil
vom Typ VD-3-PK-3
Zur Druckluftaufbereitung dient eine
Wartungseinheit vom Typ FRC-... mit
einer Filterfeinheit von min. 40 µm.
Nur dann entspricht der ZSB-1/8
einem Sicherheitsbauteil Typ I und
III A nach prEN 574.

•Observe the prevailing ambient
conditions (e.g. temperatures, pres-
sures,...).
•Comply with national and local
safety laws and regulations, as well
as the safety precautions specified
in prEN 574 and prEN 954.
•Remove all packaging such as pro-
tective wax, foils and caps (except
the sealing elements of the pneu-
matic connections).
The individual materials can be dis-
posed of in recycling containers.
•Berücksichtigen Sie die vorherr-
schenden Umweltbedingungen (z.B.
Temperaturen, Drücke,...).
•Beachten Sie die Vorschriften der
Berufsgenossenschaft, entspre-
chende nationale Bestimmungen und
die Sicherheitsvorschriften gemäß
prEN 574 bzw. prEN 954.
•Entfernen Sie alle Transportvor-
kehrungen wie Schutzwachs, Folien,
Kappen (außer den Verschluße-
lementen der pneumatischen An-
schlüsse) und Kartonagen.
Die Entsorgung der einzelnen Werk-
stoffe in Recycling-Sammelbehälter
ist möglich.

•Belüften Sie Ihre gesamte Anlage
langsam.
Dann treten keine unkontrollierten
Bewegungen auf.
•Verwenden Sie das Produkt im Orig-
inalzustand ohne jegliche eigenmäch-
tige Veränderung.
•Lassen Sie sämtliche Bauteile unver-
ändert, für die es keine unmittelbare
Aufforderung zur Veränderung in
dieser Anleitung gibt.
Sie sind aus Sicherheitsgründen mit
Schraubensicherungsmittel fixiert.
•Slowly pressurize your complete sys-
tem.
In this way you can avoid uncon-
trolled movements.
•Use the product in its original form.
Unauthorized product modification is
not permitted.
•Leave all components in their original
state if no immediate demand for
modification is specified in these
instructions.
For safety reasons, the components
are secured with a screw locking
adhesive.

Einbau
mechanisch
•Achten Sie auf verzugsfreien Einbau
des ZSB-1/8.
•Plazieren Sie den ZSB-1/8 so, daß
der Filter 4 dabei nicht abgedeckt
wird.
Zwei Schrauben M5 x 60 werden zur
Befestigung benötigt.
•Verwenden Sie 3/2-Tasterventile.
•Stellen Sie sicher, daß die Schutzan-
forderungen für den Tasteraufbau
von Zweihandschaltungen gemäß
prEN 574 bzw. prEN 954 eingehal-
ten werden (z.B. durch Schutzbleche
an den Tasterventilen).
Ein Betätigen der Taster mit nur einer
Hand (und z. B. mit Hilfe eines Ellbo-
gens, Knie oder Fuß) darf dann nicht
möglich sein.
Fitting
Mechanical
•Ensure that the ZSB-1/8 is fitted free
of distortion.
•Place the ZSB-1/8 so that the filter

is not covered.
Two M5 x 60 screws are required for
fastening.
•Use 3/2-way finger lever valves.
•Ensure that the safety requirements
for fitting the finger lever valves as
per prEN 574 or prEN 954 are ful-
filled (e.g. by means of protective
screens on the finger lever valves).
It must not be possible to actuate the
buttons with only one hand (or with
an elbow, knee or foot).

Inbetriebnahme
•Belüften Sie Ihre gesamte Anlage
langsam.
•Drehen Sie die geöffnete Stellsch-
raube des VD-3-PK-3 soweit ein, bis
ein Schaltdruck größer 3 bar erreicht
ist. Dazu ist ein Kontrollmanometer
erforderlich.
•Prüfen Sie in einem Probelauf die
Funktionen 1 bis 4:
Commissioning
•Slowly pressurize your complete
system.
•Screw in the opened adjusting screw
of the VD-3-PK-3 until a switching
pressure greater than 3 bar is
reached. To do this you must use a
test manometer.
•Check functions 1 to 4 in a test run:

Bedienung und Betrieb
Zur Kontrolle der Funktionssicherheit:
•Sorgen Sie für eine monatliche
Funktionsprüfung des ZSB-1/8 mit
einem Druck von 2 bar.
Der ZSB-1/8 darf dabei nicht schal-
ten. Andernfalls besteht eine erhebli-
che Verletzungsgefahr.
Bei einer Mediumstemperatur kleiner
1
oC:
•Verwenden Sie getrocknete Druck-
luft.
Dadurch vermindern Sie eine mögli-
che Vereisung.
Ausbau und Reparatur
Bei Bedarf:
•Sorgen Sie dafür, daß eine Überho-
lung des ZSB-1/8 nur durch unseren
Reparaturservice vorgenommen wird.
Zum Ausbau des ZSB-...:
•Entlüften Sie die gesamte Anlage
und das Gerät.
Operation
Checking the functioning of the device:
•Make sure that the ZSB-1/8 is
checked every month with a press-
ure of 2 bar.
The ZSB-1/8 must not switch at this
pressure. Otherwise there is a con-
siderable danger of injury.
If the medium temperature is less than
1 oC,
•use dry compressed air.
In this way you will reduce the
amount of ice formed.
Dismantling and repairs
If necessary:
•use only our repair service for
having your ZSB-1/8 overhauled.
Before dismantling the ZSB-...,
•exhaust the complete system as well
as the unit.
