Intended use
The VTSA... valve terminals described in this manual are
intended for fitting into a machine or automated system.
The user must observe the safety instructions specified in
this manual at all times as well as the instructions concerning
the intended use of the relevant VTSA... valve terminal.
The VTSA... valve terminals may only be used as follows:
Asintended in an industrial environment
Inits original condition without unauthorised modifica
tions.
Only the conversions or modifications described in the
documentation supplied with the product are permitted.
Inperfect technical condition.
When used together with commercially available compo
nents, such as actuators, the specified limits for pressures,
temperatures, electrical data, torques etc. must be observed.
The applicable national and local safety regulations must also
be observed.
Range of application and certifications
The product meets the requirements of the EU directives and
is marked with the CE marking.
Standards and test values, which the product must comply
with and meet, can be found in the Technical data" section.
The product−relevant EU directives can be found in the
declaration of conformity.

This manual contains specific information on fitting, installing,
commissioning, servicing and converting the VTSA... valve
terminal. It refers only to a description of the pneumatic com
ponents of the following valve terminal variants:
 Valve terminal with CPX terminal:
Information on CPX modules can be found in the manual
for the relevant module. An overview is provided in the
system description of your CPX terminal, in the Descrip
tions of the CPX terminal" table.
 Valve terminal with type 03 electronics:
You can find information about the fieldbus connection in
the type 03 electronics description INTERBUS Rugged

You can find information about the I/O modules in the

1.1 The VTSA... valve terminal
Festo assists you in solving your automation tasks on the
machine level with VTSA... valve terminals. The modular
structure of the valve terminal enables you to match it opti
mally on your machine or system.
The valve terminal pneumatics establish the following con
nections:
 Common ducts for supply and exhaust air
 Electric signals from all solenoid coils
The working lines (2) and (4) are provided for each valve posi
tion on the individual manifold sub−bases. The valves are
supplied with compressed air (operating pressure and pilot
pressure) via the common channels and connections in the
pneumatic supply plates. The exhaust air (from the valves
and the pilot control) is also exhausted via these common
ducts and connections.
The valve terminal can be fitted with further pneumatic sup
ply plates, e.g. in order to supply pressure zones.
The function range at each valve position can be extended by
means of additional vertical stacking components, e.g. ex
haust air flow control or pressure regulation.
Valve widths The valve terminal is available with valves having the follow
ing widths:
18mm and 26 mm in acc. with ISO 15407−2
42mm and 52 mm in acc. with ISO 5599−2
An adapter plate is not required if you wish to combine the
four widths on the valve terminal.
