CircleKeyholeRaised Garden Bed
Need help? Call 1-800-914-9835
Monday - Friday | 8:30am - 4:30pm EST
8.5' x 8.5'
what you need
KIT CONTAINS:
(confirm count before you begin)
16 curved boards
18straight boards
19 stacking brackets (2 packs)
5 stacking stakes
5 finishing sleeves (2 packs)
TOOLS
REQUIRED:
Hammer or mallet
For information on how to physically attach your brackets. Follow the
instructions provided in each bag of brackets.
BRACKET ORIENTATION:
CURVED BOARDS:
Stack and nest all the curved boards so the curves are all facing the same
direction. It's important to bracket all the curved boards exactly the same
way so the boards connect in the attended direction for this design.
On one side of all the boards
(left or right doesn't matter, just be
consistent) attach the bracket with the
cylinder facing down.
On the other side of each board,
attach the bracket with the
cylinder
facing up.
See diagram 1.
diagram 1
STRAIGHT BOARDS:
Install the brackets the same way as the curved boards above.

building the raised garden bed
FIRST LEVEL:
Lay out your first level with care to make the proper shape (see diagram).
USE
:
6 - curved bracketed boards
2 - straight bracketed boards
8 - stakes
TIP
: To make adjusting the shape easier - temporarily insert stakes through
bracket cylinders with the stake point pointing up. This will allow you to
slide the connected boards together easily to fine tune the shape.
Find a level area with enough room for your9' x9' circlekeyholegarden
bed. If your location is not level - you can dig into the slope and bury a level
or two into the slope. The boards are designed not to rot with soil contact,
unlike wood which is not meant for soil contact.
level 1
You can usea straightboard (or measuring tape) as a gauge for
establishing the distance between the outer and inner edges at the bracket
connection points.See diagram 2.

Once your base level shape is perfected, flip each stake and hammer the
stake into the ground. The top of the stake should be flush with the top of
the bracket loop. See diagram 3.

If you'd like to install your Circle Keyhole Garden on a hard-surface, you
can cut the stake off at the spike using a handsaw. See diagram 4.

building thecompost bin
The key component to building the composter is the finishing sleeves -
(Diagram 7) which are used as spacers to create a gap between the
timbers, allowing the compost (and compost tea) to nourish the
surrounding soil.

level1          
Start by laying out one
level in the shape of a
triangle. You can
position the triangle
any way you like, but as
shown provides the
maximum area for the
compost to mix with
your garden soil. See
diagram 8.         
 diagram 8
LEVEL 2, 3 & 4:
Place one finishing sleeve and one stake in each corner of your base level.
Stack next level of boards. Repeat for remaining levels. See Diagram 9
If your garden soil is very fine and you have concerns that it will flow
through the gaps in the composter while you are filling your raised bed with
soil you can staple chicken wire or fine mesh to either the inside or outside
of the composter.
This is generally not necessary.

finishing touches
complete!
INSTALLING YOUR STAKE CAPS:
Snap the stake caps into the recess of the stake cylinders. These should
snap in easily unless you have hammered your stake down to far. If this is
the case, either adjust your stakes upward or glue caps in place using a
glue like Gorilla Glue.
