1. WORK BEFORE INSTALLATION
1.1 Precautions on Installation
The machine installation site must satisfy the "Installation Site Requirements" below.
Also be sure to complete procedures beforehand for necessary construction work,
electrical utility, and air-conditioning system installation.
Installation Site Requirements
Avoid the following installation sites.
• Places where the temperature drastically changes.
• Places near heat sources such as heaters.
• Places where water leakage or equipment submersion may occur.
• Places where the equipment may be exposed to any corrosive gas.
• Dusty places.
• Places where the equipment is subject to constant or excessive vibration or
shock.
• Places that are exposed to direct sunlight.
Ventilation Conditions
Ventilation of 4.5m3/hour is performed per equipment.
The room installing this equipment requires ventilation equivalent to or above the
emission volume from this equipment at least.
Rooms capable of general ventilation are suitable for installing the equipment.
<SUPPLEMENTARY NOTE>
The approximate ventilation frequency of building rooms is 10 times/hour or above.
This means that ventilation equivalent to ten times the cubic capacity of the room is performed
every hour.
The ventilation frequency shall be conformed to the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating,
Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers).
Board and Optical Unit Handling Precautions
Be sure to wear a wristband for grounding when performing maintenance of boards
and optical units. Otherwise static electricity in the body may cause damage to
electronic parts on the boards and optical units.

Optical Fiber Cables Handling Precautions
Observe the following handling precautions for optical fiber cables.
• Optical fiber cables differ from normal cables in that they bend easily, and may
break if handled carelessly. Handle with care.
Mechanical characteristics of optical fiber cables
Allowable tension : 30 kg
Allowable bending radius : 90 mm along thickness direction (20 mm at
single-core cord)
• At both ends of the optical fiber cable are cords with a connector which protrude
out by about 40 cm. Dropping or hitting the cords when detaching or connecting
the connector or bending the cord suddenly results in the breaking of the cords
easily compared to the cable portion and damage of the connector. Be especially
careful when handling the optical fiber cables.
When not using the connectors, be sure to place the connector covers over the
connectors to prevent adherence of dusts and dirt.
• Optical fiber cables are packaged simply in a box for cables up to 100 m long.
Cables which are 150m and 200m long are packaged in a wooden drum
packaging which require unpacking work prior to the cable wiring work.
For the wooden drum packaging, remove the drip-proof tube attached to both
ends of the cable after unpacking, and perform wiring work with the spiral tube for
internal wiring protection.
Perform wiring work in the same way for cables up to 100m long in simple
packagings.
Do not pull the cables holding the spiral tube for wiring protection (cord with
connector).

1.3 Carrying
(1) Clear the delivery path of the equipment and carry the equipment to the
installation site.
To ensure that the equipment can be carried out safely to the installation site, move
any obstacle out of the way on the delivery entry, entry corridor, and corners. Also
make sure that the elevator is made available to move the equipment.
<NOTE>
• When delivering the equipment by means of its two-wheel casters, raise
the adjustable feet all the way up.
• When carrying the equipment, support it so that it does not turn over.
• When moving the equipment over any bump, slowly move it to avoid
shock. The bump over which the equipment may move is about 10 mm
high at the most.

The installation of this equipment can be performed using standard tools.
<NOTE>
To connect analog video/digital video boards, an oscilloscope (above 100 MHz) will be
required, and to connect analog video board, an adjusting screwdriver (DA-85) will be
required.
When installing the sorter, use the spanner provided on the sorter.
