SAFETY SUMMARY
The tollowlng general salety precautlons must be observed during all phases ol operation, service,
and repair of this instrument. Faiture to comply with these precautions or with ipecitic'warnings
elsewhere in this manual violates salety standards ol design, manulacture, and intended use ol tie
instrument. Hewlett'Packard Company assurnes no tiability lor the cuslomerb laiture to comply
with these requirements.
GROUND THE INSTRUMENT.
To minimize shock hazard, the instrument chassis and cabinet must be connected to an electrical
ground The instrument is equipped with a three-conductor ac power cable. The power cable
must either be plugged into an approved three-contact electrical ouilet or used with a three-contact
to two-contact adapter with the grounding wire (green) firmly connected to an electrical ground
(safety ground) at the power outlet. The power jack and mating plug of the power cable meet
lnternational Electrotechnical Commission llECt safety standards.
DO NOT OPERATE tN AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE.
Do not operate the instrument in the presence of flammable gases or fumes. Operation of any
electrtcal instrument in such an environment constitutes a definite safety hazard.
KEEP AWAY FROM LIVE CIRCUITS.
Operating personnel must not remove instrument covers. Component replacement and internal
adjustments must be made by qualified maintenance personnel. Do not replace components wrth
power cable connected. Under certain conditions, dangerous voltages may exist even with the
power cable removed. To avoid injuries, always disconnect power and discharge circuits before
touching them.
DO NOT SERVICE OR ADJUST ALONE.
Do not attempt internal service or adjustment unless another person, capable of rendering first ard
and resuscitation, is present.
DO NOT SUBSTITUTE PARTS OR MODIFY INSTRUMENT.
Because of the danger of introducing additional hazards, do not install substitute parts or perform
any unauthorized modtfication of the instrument Return the instrument to a Hewlett-Packard
Sales and Service Office for servrce and repair to ensure that safety features are maintained.
DANGEROUS PROCEDURE WARNINGS.

GENERAL IMORMATIOI.
The Model 6\655e, 808! rnterface Modure, provides a dedicated interface between
a microprocessor system and either the Model LS3}A/D r,ogic Ana{yr", or the Model
5l+6zos Logic ana]ryzer. Although both hard.ware and software are needed to
provide this interface, the. software element is beyond the scope of this
manual' For information in addition to the following trief description please
refer to the Model 5h520S or the Model AG3OA/D Operating Manual.
The software portion includes format specification data and a disassembler.
The format specification data includes infozmation on which analyzer bits or
fields contain address, data and status information, which clock signals to
use and their polarities. The disassembler, a set of tables for an inverse
assembler program, a1lows the analyzer to displ-ay mnemonics in addition to
binary display.
The Module eontains circuitry required to interface the Logic Anatyzer to the
8085 microprocessor. fts location near the test point helps minimize loading
of the system under test. The Logic Analyzer mainframe supplies +5 volts to the
rnterface Module for operating power at rrt logic levers. The g0g5
rnterface Module r.D. code is !! decimar, 3T hexadecimal.
