DESCRIPTION
The SPIRALOK anchor is a Poly Lactic Acid (PLA)
threaded suture anchor preloaded on a disposable
inserter assembly intended for fixation of two strands
of #2 suture to bone. The ETHIBOND®Non-Absorbable
Braided Suture, PANACRYL®Absorbable Braided Suture
and ORTHOCORD™ Braided Composite Suture options
include tapered needles to facilitate suture passage
through tissue. The SPIRALOK anchor is also packaged
without needles for arthroscopic use.
MATERIALS

Anchor: PLA absorption is expected to be essentially
complete in four years, D&C blue dye #6.
Suture: See package label for type and number
of strands:
1. PANACRYL‚ Poly (L-Lactide/Glycolide), braided
absorbable suture. PANACRYL sutures meet or
exceed the USP tensile strength requirements
for nonabsorbable and absorbable suture.The
results of implantation studies of PANACRYL
braided absorbable suture in animals indicate
that approximately 80% of its original strength
remains 3 months after implantation. At 6 months
post-implantation, approximately 60% of its original
strength is retained. *

2. ETHIBOND‚ braided polyester, non-
absorbable suture.
OR
3. ORTHOCORD Suture is a synthetic, sterile, braided,
composite suture composed of dyed (D&C Violet #2
or D&C Blue #6) absorbable polydiaxanone (PDS)
and un-dyed non-absorbable polyethylene. The
partially absorbable suture is coated with a copolymer
of 90% caprolactone and 10% glycolide.
The PDS copolymer has been shown to be nonantigenic,
nonpyrogenic and elicits only a slight tissue reaction
during absorption.

INDICATIONS
Shoulder: Rotator cuff repair.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Surgical procedures other than those listed in the
INDICATIONS section; pathological conditions of bone,
such as cystic changes or severe osteopenia, which
would compromise secure anchor fixation; pathological
conditions in the soft tissue to be attached which
would impair secure fixation by suture; comminuted
bone surface, which would compromise secure anchor
fixation; physical conditions which would eliminate, or
tend to eliminate, adequate implant support or retard
healing, i.e., blood supply limitation, infection; conditions
which tend to preempt the patient’s ability to heal or
the healing period, such as senility, mental illness, or
alcoholism; attachment of artificial ligaments or other
implants; reattachment of intracapsular knee ligaments
(ACL & PCL).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
For use arthroscopically, insert the SPIRALOK Delivery
guide and Introducer through the appropriate sized
cannula and place against the bone at the desired
insertion site. Remove the introducer and follow the steps
below. The instruments and the SPIRALOK anchor will fit
through the SPIRALOK delivery guide.
5.0mm SPIRALOK
1. Minimum space between each anchor is 5mm.
2. Position the awl on the prepared bone surface and
establish the proper axial alignment.
3. Using a mallet, tap the awl into the bone until the
etched depth marking is flush with the bone surface.
4. Grasp the handle of the awl firmly and remove it
from the bone by pulling at the same axial angle of
insertion. Set the awl aside for next anchor insertion.
5. In harder bone, the awl may be used first followed by
the tap.
5A. Position the SPIRALOK TAP into the hole
in the bone made by the awl and establish
axial alignment.
5B. Rotate the tap in a clockwise direction until the
etched depth marking is flush with the bone. The
tap may be rotated up to one additional turn (3-4
mm) past the etched depth marking.
5C. Rotate the tap in a counter-clockwise direction
to remove.
6. Insert the SPIRALOK anchor into the hole created by
the awl while maintaining same axial alignment.
7. Rotate the SPIRALOK inserter handle in a clockwise
direction until the etched depth marking on the handle

is flush with the bone. The four longitudinal lines at
the distal end of the inserter indicate the position of
the suture limbs as they are positioned through the
anchor’s dual suture eyelets.
8. Release the suture card from the inserter handle and
pull inserter away from anchor.
9. Apply tension (nominal force) on suture lengths.
EXCESSIVE TENSION MAY OVERLOAD THE
ANCHOR OR SUTURE.
10. Use the two sutures provided for soft tissue fixation.
6.5mm SPIRALOK
1. Minimum space between each anchor is 5mm.
2. Position the awl on the prepared bone surface and
establish the proper axial alignment.

4. Grasp the handle of the awl firmly and remove it

WARNINGS
1. DePuy Mitek anchors are designed to lock into
cortical or cancellous bone. Bone stock must
be adequate to allow proper and secure anchor
placement. Incomplete insertion or poor bone quality
may result in anchor pullout.
2. Anchor may break or fracture if the bone quality is too
hard or dense.
3. Immediate range of motion should be avoided to
allow biological bony/soft tissue healing.

4. Do not use where pre-healing suture tension will
exceed 20 lbs. for size #2 suture, as suture may fail.
5. This device is not approved for screw attachment or
fixation to the posterior elements (pedicles) of the
thoracic or lumbar spine.
6. As a braided suture, which is essentially absorbed
over 1.5 to 2.5 years, the PANACRYL suture may act
as a foreign body over an extended period of time.
The surgeon should consider whether use of an
absorbable suture is appropriate in specific situations
such as in wounds that carry an increased risk of
infection or contamination.
7. Users should be familiar with surgical procedures and
techniques involving absorbable and non-absorbable
suture before employing ORTHOCORD suture for
wound closure, as risk of wound dehiscence may
vary with the site of application and the suture
material used.
PRECAUTIONS
A surgeon should not begin clinical use of a DePuy Mitek
anchor without reviewing the instructions for use and
practicing the procedure in a skills laboratory.
Inspect all instruments for damage before use. Do not
attempt to repair.
ADVERSE EFFECTS
Adverse effects of absorbable implanted devices include
mild inflammatory and foreign body reactions.
STERILIZATION
The SPIRALOK suture anchor is provided sterile. Do
not resterilize.
A DEPUY MITEK ANCHOR MUST NEVER BE
REUSED.
STORAGE
Store in a cool dry place below 26°C (80°F), away from
moisture and direct heat. Discard if open but unused. Do
not use after expiration date.

SPIRALOK™
DESCRIPCIÓN
El anclaje SPIRALOK es un anclaje de sutura roscado
de ácido poliláctico (APL) previamente cargado sobre
un conjunto insertador desechable para la fijación
de dos hilos de sutura calibre 2 al hueso. La sutura
trenzada no absorbible ETHIBOND®, la sutura trenzada

absorbible PANACRYL®y la sutura trenzada compuesta
ORTHOCORD™ incluyen agujas cónicas que facilitan
el paso de la sutura por el tejido. El anclaje SPIRALOK
también viene sin agujas para uso artroscópico.
MATERIALES
Mango: ABS
Eje: acero inoxidable
Anclaje: la absorción del APL tarda aproximadamente
cuatro años, tintura azul D&C calibre 6.

1. Sutura trenzada absorbible de poli (L-láctido/glicólido)

3. La sutura ORTHOCORD es una sutura estéril
compuesta trenzada sintética de polidioxanona
absorbible (PDS) teñida con violeta D&C N° 2 o azul
D&C N° 6 y polietileno no absorbible no teñido. La
sutura parcialmente absorbible está revestida con un
copolímero de 90 % caprolactona y 10 % glicólido.
Se ha comprobado que el copolímero PDS es no
antígeno, no pirógeno y sólo genera una leve reacción
del tejido durante la absorción.
Agujas: acero inoxidable. Vea el tipo y tamaño en la
etiqueta del envase.
INDICACIONES
Hombro: reparación del manguito de los rotadores.
CONTRAINDICACIONES
Procedimientos quirúrgicos que no sean los enumerados
en la sección INDICACIONES; condiciones patológicas
del hueso, tales como alteraciones quísticas u
osteopenia grave, que pudiesen menoscabar la fijación
segura del anclaje; condiciones patológicas del tejido
blando que se desea fijar que pudiesen menoscabar
la fijación segura mediante sutura; superficie ósea
conminuta que pudiese menoscabar la fijación segura
del anclaje; condiciones físicas que pudiesen eliminar,

o tender a eliminar, el apoyo adecuado del implante o
retardar su cicatrización, tales como disminución de la
irrigación sanguínea, infecciones, etc.; condiciones que
tienden a limitar la capacidad del paciente de cicatrizar
o el período de cicatrización, tales como senilidad,
enfermedad mental o alcoholismo; fijación de ligamentos
artificiales u otros implantes; refijación de ligamentos de
la rodilla intracapsulares (LCA y LCP).
INSTRUCCIONES DE USO
Para uso artroscópico, inserte la guía de aplicación
SPIRALOK y el introductor por la cánula de tamaño
adecuado y colóquelos contra el hueso en el lugar donde
desea realizar la inserción. Retire el introductor y siga
los pasos indicados a continuación. Los instrumentos
y el anclaje SPIRALOK pasarán por la guía de
aplicación SPIRALOK.
SPIRALOK 5,0 mm
1. El espacio mínimo entre cada anclaje es de 5 mm.
2. Coloque la lezna sobre la superficie ósea preparada
y establezca la alineación axial adecuada.
3. Con un martillo, golpee suavemente la lezna en el
hueso hasta que la marca de profundidad grabada
quede al ras de la superficie ósea.
4. Sujete el mango de la lezna con fuerza y retírela del
hueso tirando al mismo ángulo axial de inserción.
Haga a un lado la lezna para la inserción del
siguiente anclaje.
5. En hueso más duro, la lezna puede utilizarse primero
seguida por la terraja.
5A. Coloque la TERRAJA SPIRALOK en el orificio
realizado con la lezna en el hueso y establezca
la alineación axial.
5B. Gire la terraja en sentido horario hasta que la
marca de profundidad grabada quede al ras
del hueso. La terraja puede girarse una vuelta
más como máximo (3-4 mm) después de la
marca de profundidad grabada.
5C. Gire la terraja en sentido antihorario
para retirarla.
6. Inserte el anclaje SPIRALOK en el orificio creado con
la lezna manteniendo la misma alineación axial.
7. Gire el mango del insertador SPIRALOK en
sentido horario hasta que la marca de profundidad
grabada en el mango quede al ras del hueso. Las
cuatro líneas longitudinales en el extremo distal del
insertador indican la posición de las extremidades de
la sutura al colocarlas a través de los ojos de sutura
dobles del anclaje.
8. Suelte la tarjeta de sutura del mango del insertador y
tire del insertador alejándolo del anclaje.

9. Aplique tensión (fuerza nominal) a lo largo de
la sutura. LA TENSIÓN EXCESIVA PUEDE
SOBRECARGAR EL ANCLAJE O LA SUTURA.
10. Utilice las dos suturas suministradas para la fijación
del tejido blando.
SPIRALOK 6,5 mm
1. El espacio mínimo entre cada anclaje es de 5 mm.
2. Coloque la lezna sobre la superficie ósea preparada
y establezca la alineación axial adecuada.
3. Con un martillo, golpee suavemente la lezna en el
hueso hasta que la marca de profundidad grabada
quede al ras de la superficie ósea.
4. Sujete el mango de la lezna con fuerza y retírela del
hueso tirando al mismo ángulo axial de inserción.

5. Coloque la TERRAJA SPIRALOK en el orificio
realizado con la lezna en el hueso y establezca
la alineación axial.
6. Gire la terraja en sentido horario hasta que la marca
de profundidad grabada quede al ras del hueso. La
terraja puede girarse una vuelta más como máximo
(3-4 mm) después de la marca de profundidad
grabada.
7. Gire la terraja en sentido antihorario para retirarla.
8. Inserte el anclaje SPIRALOK en el orificio creado
con la lezna y la terraja manteniendo la misma
alineación axial.
9. Gire el mango del insertador SPIRALOK en
sentido horario hasta que la marca de profundidad
grabada en el mango quede al ras del hueso. Las
cuatro líneas longitudinales en el extremo distal del
insertador indican la posición de las extremidades de
la sutura al colocarlas a través de los ojos de sutura
dobles del anclaje.
10. Suelte la tarjeta de sutura del mango del insertador y
tire del insertador alejándolo del anclaje.
11. Aplique tensión (fuerza nominal) a lo largo de

ADVERTENCIAS
1. Los anclajes de DePuy Mitek están diseñados para
engancharse en hueso cortical o esponjoso. La masa
ósea debe ser adecuada para permitir la colocación
adecuada y segura del anclaje. La inserción
incompleta o la mala calidad del hueso pueden hacer
que el anclaje se salga de su lugar.
2. El anclaje puede romperse o fracturarse si la calidad
ósea es demasiado dura o densa.

3. Debe evitarse el rango de movimiento inmediato
para permitir la cicatrización biológica del
tejido óseo/blando.
4. No utilizar en aquellos casos en que la tensión de
la sutura antes de la cicatrización excede los 9,1 kg
para sutura calibre 2, ya que la sutura puede fallar.
5. Este dispositivo no está aprobado para la unión
o fijación con tornillo a los elementos posteriores
(pedículos) de la columna torácica o lumbar.
6. Como sutura trenzada, cuya absorción tarda
aproximadamente de 1,5 a 2,5 años, la sutura
PANACRYL puede actuar como cuerpo extraño
durante un tiempo prolongado. El cirujano debe
considerar si el uso de una sutura absorbible
es adecuado en situaciones tales como heridas
que tienen un riesgo superior de infección
o contaminación.
7. Los usuarios deben encontrarse familiarizados
con los procedimientos y técnicas quirúrgicas
que implican el uso de suturas absorbibles y no
absorbibles antes de utilizar la sutura ORTHOCORD
para el cierre de una herida, ya que el riesgo de
dehiscencia de la herida puede variar según el lugar
de aplicación y el material de sutura utilizado.
PRECAUCIONES
Antes de utilizar clínicamente un anclaje de DePuy Mitek,
el cirujano debe leer con atención las instrucciones de
uso y ensayar el procedimiento en un laboratorio de
práctica.
Inspeccione todos los instrumentos antes de utilizarlos
para asegurarse de que no están dañados. No
intente repararlos.
EFECTOS ADVERSOS
Los efectos adversos de los dispositivos implantados
absorbibles incluyen reacciones inflamatorias y a
cuerpos extraños de carácter leve.
ESTERILIZACIÓN
El anclaje de sutura SPIRALOK se suministra estéril.
No volver a esterilizar.

CONSERVACIÓN
Guardar en un lugar fresco y seco a una temperatura

SPIRALOK™ con suture
DESCRIZIONE
L’ancora SPIRALOK è un’ancora filettata con suture
in acido polilattico (PLA) precaricata su un gruppo
introduttore monouso previsto per il fissaggio di due
filamenti di sutura #2 all’osso. Sia la sutura intrecciata
non assorbibile ETHIBOND®, la sutura intrecciata
assorbibile PANACRYL®e la sutura intrecciata composita
ORTHOCORD™ sono dotate di aghi conici per agevolare
il passaggio della sutura attraverso il tessuto. Inoltre,
l’ancora SPIRALOK viene anche fornita priva di aghi
per uso artroscopico.
MATERIALI
Impugnatura: ABS
Stelo: acciaio inossidabile
Ancora: in linea di massima, l’assorbimento del PLA
sarà completo in quattro anni, D&C di colore blu #6
Sutura: vedere l’etichetta della confezione per il tipo e il
numero di filamenti:
1. Sutura assorbibile intrecciata PANACRYL poli
(L-lactide/glicolide). Le suture PANACRYL soddisfano
o superano i requisiti di resistenza allo stiramento
della farmacopea statunitense per suture non
assorbibili ed assorbibili. Da studi svolti sull’impianto
di suture assorbibili intrecciate a lunga durata
PANACRYL condotti su animali, risulta che circa
l’80 % della resistenza originale rimane per 3 mesi
dopo l’impianto. Dopo 6 mesi dall’impianto, rimane
circa il 60 % della resistenza originale. *
OPPURE
2. Sutura non assorbibile intrecciata in
poliestere ETHIBOND.
OPPURE
3. ORTHOCORD è una sutura sterile composita
intrecciata e sintetica composta da polidiossanone
(PDS) (D&C colorato di viola cal. 2 o D&C colorato di
blu cal. 6) e polietilene non assorbibile non colorato.
La sutura parzialmente assorbibile è rivestita con un
copolimero composto dal 90 % di caprolattone e dal
10 % di glicolide.
Il copolimero del PDS è risultato non antigenico e
apirogeno, con una leggera reazione del tessuto
durante l’assorbimento.

INDICAZIONI
Spalla: riparazione della cuffia dei rotatori.
CONTROINDICAZIONI
Interventi chirurgici diversi da quelli elencati nella sezione
INDICAZIONI; condizioni patologiche dell’osso, quali
variazioni cistiche o grave osteopenia, che potrebbero
compromettere il fissaggio sicuro dell’ancora; condizioni
patologiche del tessuto molle che deve essere attaccato
che potrebbero compromettere il fissaggio sicuro tramite
sutura; superficie ossea comminuta, che potrebbe
compromettere il fissaggio sicuro dell’ancora; condizioni
fisiche che potrebbero eliminare o tenderebbero ad
eliminare un adeguato supporto dell’impianto o ritardare
la guarigione, ad esempio, limitato apporto ematico,
infezioni; condizioni che tendono a limitare l’abilità di
guarigione del paziente o il periodo di guarigione, ad es.,
senilità, malattia mentale o alcolismo; collegamento di
legamenti artificiali o altri impianti; riattacco di legamenti
intracapsulari del ginocchio (legamento crociato anteriore
e legamento crociato posteriore).
ISTRUZIONI PER L’USO
Per uso artroscopico, inserire la guida e l’introduttore
SPIRALOK attraverso la cannula di dimensione
adeguata e posizionarla contro l’osso nel punto di
inserimento desiderato. Rimuovere l’introduttore e
seguire la procedura riportata di seguito. Gli strumenti
e l’ancora SPIRALOK verranno posizionati attraverso la
guida SPIRALOK.
SPIRALOK 5,0 mm
1. Lo spazio minimo fra un’ancora e l’altra è 5 mm.
2. Posizionare il punteruolo sulla superficie
ossea preparata e determinare il corretto
allineamento assiale.
3. Con un mazzuolo, battere il punteruolo nell’osso fino
a quando il marcatore di profondità inciso è allineato
alla superficie ossea.
4. Afferrare saldamente l’impugnatura del punteruolo
e rimuoverla dall’osso tirando nello stesso angolo
assiale di inserimento. Mettere da parte il punteruolo
per l’inserimento dell’ancora successiva.
5. Nell’osso più duro, è possibile utilizzare prima il
punteruolo seguito dal maschiatore.
5A. Posizionare il MASCHIATORE SPIRALOK
nel foro dell’osso praticato con il punteruolo e
stabilire l’allineamento assiale.
5B. Ruotare il maschiatore in senso orario fino
a quando il marcatore di profondità inciso è
allineato all’osso. La filettatura può essere
ruotata di un altro giro (3-4 mm) oltre la tacca
incisa di profondità.

5C. Ruotare il maschiatore in senso antiorario
per rimuoverlo.
6. Inserire l’ancora SPIRALOK nel foro creato
dal punteruolo mantenendo lo stesso
allineamento assiale.
7. Ruotare l’impugnatura dell’introduttore SPIRALOK in
senso orario fino a quando il marcatore di profondità
inciso sull’impugnatura è allineato all’osso. Le quattro
linee longitudinali all’estremità distale dell’introduttore
indicano la posizione dei lembi di sutura man mano
che vengono posizionati attraverso gli occhielli della
sutura doppia dell’ancora.
8. Rilasciare il cartoncino di sutura dall’impugnatura
dell’introduttore e togliere l’introduttore dall’ancora.
9. Esercitare tensione (forza nominale) sulle lunghezze

AVVERTENZE
1. Le ancore DePuy Mitek sono state concepite per
fissarsi nell’osso corticale o spongioso. Per consentire
un posizionamento corretto e sicuro dell’ancora, è
necessario che la riserva ossea sia adeguata. Un
inserimento incompleto o una scarsa qualità ossea
possono causare l’uscita dell’ancora.
2. L’ancora può rompersi o fratturarsi se la qualità ossea
è troppo dura o densa.
3. Evitare di effettuare immediatamente l’intera gamma
di movimenti per consentire una guarigione biologica
del tessuto osseo/molle.
4. Non usare nei casi in cui la tensione della sutura
prima della guarigione superi i 9,1 kg per una
sutura di misura #2, poiché la sutura potrebbe non
sopportare tale tensione.
5. Questo dispositivo non è approvato per il
collegamento o il fissaggio delle viti agli elementi
posteriori (peduncoli) della colonna vertebrale
toracica o lombare.
6. Analogamente ad una sutura intrecciata, che viene
generalmente assorbita in un periodo compreso
tra 1,5 e 2,5 anni, in caso di periodo prolungato la
sutura PANACRYL può comportarsi come un corpo
estraneo. Il chirurgo deve considerare l’idoneità
all’uso di una sutura assorbibile in situazioni
specifiche come in caso di ferite caratterizzate da un
elevato rischio di infezione o contaminazione.
7. Prima di utilizzare la sutura ORTHOCORD per
la chiusura di ferite, gli utenti dovrebbero avere
familiarità con le procedure e le tecniche chirurgiche
che riguardano le suture assorbibili e non assorbibili,
in quanto il rischio di deiscenza della ferita può
variare con il punto di applicazione e il materiale di
sutura utilizzato.
PRECAUZIONI
Non dare inizio all’uso clinico di un’ancora DePuy
Mitek senza aver passato in rassegna le istruzioni per
l’uso e aver esercitato la procedura in un laboratorio
di specializzazione.
Ispezionare tutti gli strumenti prima dell’uso per verificare
la presenza di danni. Evitare qualunque riparazione.
EFFETTI AVVERSI
Gli effetti avversi dei dispositivi assorbibili impiantati
comprendono lievi stati infiammatori e reazioni a
corpi estranei.

BESCHREIBUNG
Der SPIRALOK Anker ist ein Schraubenanker
aus PLA (Polylaktidsäure), der auf einem Einmal-
Setzinstrument konfektioniert zur Fixierung von
zwei Fäden (USP 2) am Knochen bestimmt ist. Der
ETHIBOND®nicht resorbierbare geflochtene Faden, der
PANACRYL®resorbierbare geflochtene Faden und der
ORTHOCORD™ geflochtene Kombinationsfaden sind
alle mit Rundkörpernadeln armiert, um das Durchziehen
des Fadens durch das Gewebe zu ermöglichen. Der
SPIRALOK Anker ist für arthroskopische Eingriffe auch
ohne Nadeln erhältlich.
MATERIALIEN
Griff: ABS (Acrylonitril-Butadien-Styren)
Schaft: Edelstahl
Anker: Das PLA-Material wird üblicherweise im Laufe
von vier Jahren vollständig resorbiert und enthält den
Farbstoff D&C Blau Nr. 6.
Nahtmaterial: Siehe Packungsaufdruck bezüglich Art
des Materials und Anzahl der Fäden:
1. PANACRYL geflochtener, resorbierbarer
Polyesterfaden aus L-Laktid/Glykolid. PANACRYL
erfüllt oder übertrifft die USP (United States
Pharmacopoeia) -Vorschriften, was Reißfestigkeit
für resorbierbares und nicht resorbierbares
Nahtmaterial anbelangt. Tierversuche mit PANACRYL
geflochtenem, resorbierbarem Faden haben gezeigt,
dass 3 Monate nach der Implantation noch rund
80 % der ursprünglichen Fadenreißkraft vorhanden
ist. 6 Monate nach der Implantation beträgt die
Reißkraft des Nahtmaterials noch ca. 60 % der
ursprünglichen Reißkraft. *

2. ETHIBOND, geflochtener, nicht resorbierbarer
Polyesterfaden.
ODER
3. ORTHOCORD ist ein steriles, synthetisches,
geflochtenes Nahtmaterial, das aus mit D&C Violett
Nr. 2 oder D&C Blau Nr. 6 gefärbtem, resorbierbarem
Polydioxanon (PDS) und ungefärbtem, nicht
resorbierbarem Polyethylen hergestellt ist. Dieses
teilweise resorbierbare Nahtmaterial ist mit einem
Copolymer aus 90 % Caprolakton und 10 %
Glykolid beschichtet.
Das PDS-Copolymer hat sich als nicht-antigen und nicht-
pyrogen erwiesen und löst während der Resorption nur
sehr geringe Gewebereaktionen aus.
Nadeln: Edelstahl. Art und Größe der Nadeln gehen aus
dem Packungsaufdruck hervor.
ANWENDUNGSGEBIETE
Schulter: Rekonstruktion der Rotatorenmanschette.
GEGENANZEIGEN
Andere als die im Abschnitt ANWENDUNGSGEBIETE
aufgeführten chirurgischen Verfahren. Außerdem:
pathologische Knochenzustände, wie zystische
Veränderungen oder schwere Osteopenie, welche eine
sichere Fixation des Ankers beeinträchtigen würden;
pathologische Zustände in dem zu befestigenden
Weichgewebe, die eine sichere Fixation des
Nahtmaterials beeinträchtigen würden; fragmentierte
Knochenoberflächen, welche einer sicheren Fixierung
des Ankers entgegen wirken würden; physische
Zustände, die eine adäquate Unterstützung des
Implantats ausschließen oder eine Heilung verzögern
könnten, z. B. Einschränkungen der Blutversorgung und
Infektionen; Zustände, welche die Heilungsfähigkeit des
Patienten oder seine Heilungschancen beeinträchtigen,
wie Senilität, Geisteskrankheit oder Alkoholismus;
Befestigung von künstlichen Bändern oder anderen
Implantaten; erneute Befestigung der intrakapsulären
Kniebänder (vorderes und hinteres Kreuzband).
ANWENDUNGSHINWEISE
Bei arthroskopischer Anwendung die SPIRALOK
Ankersetzhilfe und Einführhilfe durch eine Kanüle
entsprechender Größe führen und an der gewünschten
Insertionsstelle am Knochen positionieren.
Einführhilfe entfernen und wie folgt vorgehen.
Instrumente und SPIRALOK Anker passen durch
die SPIRALOK Ankersetzhilfe.

5,0 mm SPIRALOK
1. Der Mindestabstand zwischen den Ankern sollte
5 mm betragen.
2. Den Obturator auf der vorbereiteten Knochen-
oberfläche positionieren und der Lochachse
entsprechend ausrichten.
3. Den Obturator mit einem Gummihammer in den
Knochen eintreiben, bis die am Obturator befindliche
geätzte Tiefenmarkierung mit der Knochenoberfläche
gleich ist.
4. Den Griff des Obturators fest umfassen und im
selben Winkel wie beim Einführen wieder aus dem
Knochen entfernen. Den Obturator für die nächste
Ankereinführung aufbewahren.
5. In härterem Knochen muss eventuell zuerst
der Obturator und dann der Gewindeschneider
verwendet werden.
5A. Den SPIRALOK GEWINDESCHNEIDER in
dem von dem Obturator vorbereiteten Loch
positionieren und die Achse korrekt ausrichten.
5B. Den Gewindeschneider im Uhrzeigersinn
drehen, bis die geätzte Tiefenmarkierung mit
dem Knochen bündig ist. Der Gewindeschneider
darf eine Drehung (3-4mm) über geätzte
Tiefenmarkierung hinaus gedreht werden.
5C. Zum Entfernen den Gewindeschneider gegen
den Uhrzeigersinn drehen.
6. Den SPIRALOK Anker in das von dem
Obturator vorbereitete Loch einsetzen, ohne die
Achsenausrichtung zu verändern.
7. Den Griff des SPIRALOK Setzinstruments
im Uhrzeigersinn drehen, bis die geätzte
Tiefenmarkierung mit dem Knochen bündig
ist. Die vier Längslinien am distalen Ende des
Setzinstruments geben die Position der Ankerfäden
an, wie sie durch die Doppelöse des Ankers
positioniert sind.
8. Das Nahtmaterial vom Griff des Setzinstruments
lösen und das Setzinstrument vom Anker wegziehen.
9. Die Fadenenden spannen (kein großer Kraftaufwand
erforderlich). DURCH ZU STARKES ZIEHEN KANN
DER ANKER BZW. DER FADEN ÜBERMÄSSIG
BELASTET WERDEN.
10. Die zwei Ankerfäden für die Fixation von
Weichgewebe verwenden.
6,5 mm SPIRALOK
1. Der Mindestabstand zwischen den Ankern sollte

im Uhrzeigersinn drehen, bis die geätzte
Tiefenmarkierung mit dem Knochen bündig

WARNUNGEN
1. DePuy Mitek Anker sind für die Fixation in
kortikalem oder spongiösem Knochen konzipiert.
Für die korrekte und sichere Ankerpositionierung
muss adäquates Knochenmaterial vorhanden
sein. Unvollständiges Einführen des Ankers bzw.
schlechte Qualität des Knochenmaterials können
dazu führen, dass der Anker wieder aus der
Knochenbohrung herausrutscht.
2. Der Anker kann splittern oder brechen, wenn die
Beschaffenheit des Knochens zu hart oder zu
dicht ist.
3. Die sofortige Herstellung der Bewegungsfähigkeit
ist zu vermeiden, um das biologische Anheilen von
Knochen/Weichgewebe zu ermöglichen.
4. Nicht verwenden, wenn die Spannung des
Nahtmaterials vor Abschluss des Heilungsprozesses
9,1 kg für Nahtmaterial der Stärke USP 2 übersteigt,
da das Nahtmaterial sonst reißen könnte.

5. Dieses Produkt ist nicht für die Schraubenbefestigung
oder -fixierung an den posterioren Enden (Pedikeln)
der Brust- oder Lendenwirbelsäule bestimmt
und zugelassen.
6. Als geflochtener Faden, der über einen Zeitraum
von 1,5 bis 2,5 Jahren zum Großteil resorbiert wird,
kann PANACRYL über längere Zeit hinweg einen
Fremdkörper im Körper darstellen. Der operierende
Arzt sollte daher gut abwägen, ob der Einsatz eines
resorbierbaren Fadens unter bestimmten Umständen,
wie etwa bei Wunden mit erhöhter Infektionsgefahr
oder Gefahr für Wundverunreinigung, geeignet ist.
7. Vor Verwendung des ORTHOCORD-Nahtmaterials
zum Schließen einer Wunde sollte sich
der operierende Arzt ausreichend mit den
entsprechenden chirurgischen Verfahren und
Methoden zur Verwendung von resorbierbarem und
nicht resorbierbarem Nahtmaterial vertraut gemacht
haben, da die Gefahr einer klaffenden Wunde oft mit
der Einschnittstelle und dem benutzten Nahtmaterial
zu tun hat.
VORSICHTSMASSNAHMEN
DePuy Mitek Anker sollten vom Chirurgen nicht klinisch
angewendet werden, bevor die Gebrauchsansweisung
sorgfältig gelesen und das Installationsverfahren in einem
qualifizierten Labor eingeübt wurde.
Vor Gebrauch alle Instrumente auf Schäden untersuchen.
Keine Reparaturversuche unternehmen.
UNERWÜNSCHTE NEBENWIRKUNGEN
Zu den unerwünschten Nebenwirkungen bei
resorbierbaren Implantaten gehören leichte
Entzündungen sowie Abstoßungsreaktionen
gegen Fremdkörper.
STERILISIERUNG
Der SPIRALOK Nahtanker wird steril geliefert. Nicht
erneut sterilisieren.
EINEN DEPUY MITEK ANKER NIEMALS EIN ZWEITES
MAL VERWENDEN.
AUFBEWAHRUNG
Kühl und trocken unter 26 °C aufbewahren. Keiner
Feuchtigkeit oder direkter Hitze aussetzen. Nach dem

Dispositif d’ancrage de fils de suture,
résorbable, fileté, SPIRALOK™
DESCRIPTION
Le dispositif d’ancrage SPIRALOK se compose d’un
ancrage en acide polylactique (PLA), pré-monté sur
un introducteur à usage unique, destiné à la fixation
des tissus sur l’os à l’aide de deux de fils de sutures
déc. 5 (USP #2). Les trois présentations : fils de suture
tressés non résorbables ETHIBOND®, fils suture tressés
résorbables PANACRYL®et fils de suture tressés en
composite ORTHOCORD™, sont munies d’aiguilles à
pointe ronde facilitant le passage des fils de suture dans
le tissu. Le dispositif d’ancrage SPIRALOK est également
conditionné sans aiguille pour un usage arthroscopique.
MATÉRIAUX
Poignée : acrylonitrile-butadiène-styrène (ABS)
Tige : acier inoxydable
Dispositif d’ancrage : PLA, la résorption de l’acide
polylactique (PLA) est presque totale au bout de quatre
ans, colorant bleu D&C n° 6.
Fil de suture : consulter le type et le nombre de brins sur
l’étiquette de conditionnement :
1. Fil de suture tressée en poly (L-lactide/glycolide)
PANACRYL résorbable. Les fils de suture PANACRYL
sont conformes ou dépassent les exigences de
la pharmacopée américaine (USP) relatives à la
résistance à la traction pour les fils de sutures
résorbables et non résorbables. Les résultats des
essais d’implantation de fils de sutures tressées
PANACRYL résorbables sur l’animal indiquent que,
trois mois après l’implantation, environ 80 % de sa
résistance initiale est conservée. Six mois après
l’implantation, environ 60 % de sa force initiale
sont conservés. *

2. Fil de suture tressé en polyester ETHIBOND
non résorbable.

3. Le fil de suture ORTHOCORD est un fil de
suture synthétique composite, tressé, stérile, en
polydioxanone résorbable teinté (en violet D&C
n° 2 ou en bleu D&C n° 6) et en polyéthylène non
résorbable non teinté. Le fil de suture partiellement
résorbable est recouvert d’un copolymère composé
de 90 % de caprolactone et de 10 % de glycolide.

Il a été montré que le copolymère PDS est non
antigénique, apyrogène et ne provoque qu’une légère
réaction tissulaire lors de la résorption.
Aiguilles : acier inoxydable.Voir le type et la taille sur

INDICATIONS
Épaule : réparation de la coiffe des rotateurs.
CONTRE-INDICATIONS
Interventions chirurgicales autres que celles mentionnées
au paragraphe INDICATIONS ; pathologies osseuses,
telles que des évolutions kystiques ou une ostéopénie
aiguë pouvant compromettre la solidité de la fixation
de l’ancre ; états pathologiques du tissu mou à
suturer susceptibles d’affaiblir la solidité de la fixation
par le fil de suture ; surface osseuse comminutive
risquant de compromettre la solidité de la fixation de
l’ancre ; conditions physiques risquant d’éliminer ou ayant
tendance à éliminer un soutien adéquat à l’implant ou
à retarder la cicatrisation, telles qu’une vascularisation
insuffisante, des infections ; états ayant tendance à limiter
la capacité de cicatrisation du patient ou à prolonger la
période de cicatrisation telles que la sénilité, une maladie
mentale, l’alcoolisme ; fixation de ligaments artificiels ou
d’autres implants ; fixation de ligaments intracapsulaires
du genou (ligaments croisés antérieurs et postérieurs).
MODE D’EMPLOI
Pour une utilisation arthroscopique, introduire le guide
d’introduction et le mandrin du guide d’introduction
SPIRALOK dans une canule de taille appropriée et
les placer contre l’os, au niveau du site d’introduction
souhaité. Retirer le mandrin et suivre les étapes
ci-dessous. Les instruments et l’ancre SPIRALOK
s’adaptent dans le guide d’introduction SPIRALOK.
SPIRALOK 5 mm
1. L’espace minimum entre deux ancrages est de 5 mm.
2. Positionner le pointeau sur la surface osseuse
préparée selon un axe approprié.
3. À l’aide d’un maillet, enfoncer le pointeau dans l’os,
jusqu’à ce que le repère de profondeur soit au niveau
de la surface osseuse.
4. Saisir fermement la poignée du pointeau et le
retirer de l’os en tirant dans le même axe que lors
de l’introduction. Mettre le pointeau de côté pour la
prochaine introduction d’une ancre.
5. Dans les os plus durs, le pointeau peut être utilisé
dans un premier temps et être suivi du taraud.
5A. Positionner le TARAUD SPIRALOK dans le trou
préalablement réalisé dans l’os avec le pointeau
en le positionnant dans le même axe.
5B. Faire tourner le taraud dans le sens des
aiguilles d’une montre jusqu’à ce que le repère
