Foreachadjustmentoperation,selectadjustingshims,individuallymeasureusingamicrometer,thenaddupthe
recordedvalues.Donotrelyonmeasuringtheentireshimmingset,whichmaybeincorrect,anddonotrelyonthe
ratedvalueindicatedoneachshim.
ROTATINGSHAFTSEALS
Forcorrectrotatingshaftsealinstallation,proceedasfollows:
•Beforeassembly,allowthesealtosoakforatleastthirtyminutesintheoilitwillbesealing.
•Thoroughlycleantheshaft,andcheckthattheworkingsurfaceontheshaftisundamaged.
•Fitthelipsealtowardtheuid.Ifyouarettingahydrodynamiclipseal,thegroovesshouldbeorientedsothatthe
uidisdirectedtowardtheinnersideoftheseal(taketheshaftdirectionofrotationintoconsideration).
•Coatthelipsealwithathinlayeroflubricant(useoilratherthangrease),thenllthegapbetweenthelipsealand
thedustlipsealofthedouble-lipsealswithgrease.
•Insertthesealintoitsseatandpressdownusingaatpunch.Donottapthesealwithahammerormallet.
•Duringassembly,makesurethatthesealisttedperpendicularlytoitsseat.Oncethisoperationiscompleted,
checktomakesurethatthesealisincontactwiththebearingstop,ifrequired.
•Topreventdamagingthelipsealontheshaft,tanappropriateprotectiveguardduringinstallation.
"O"RINGS
Lubricatethe"O"ringsbeforettingthemintotheseats.Thispreventsthemfromoverturningandtwisting,which
wouldmakethemineffective.
SEALINGCOMPOUNDS
ApplyoneofthefollowingsealingcompoundstothematingsurfacesmarkedwithanX:SilmateRTV,Rhodorsil
CAF1,orLoctitePlasticGasket.Beforeapplyingthesealingcompound,preparethesurfacesasfollows:
•Removeanydirtusingametalbrush.
•Thoroughlydegreasethesurfacesusingoneofthefollowingcleaningagents:trichloroethylene,gasoline,ora
waterandsodasolution.
SPLITPINS
Whenttingsplitpins,makesurethatthepinnotchispositionedinthedirectionoftheforcerequiredtostressthe
pin.Spiralsplitpinsdonotrequirespecialpositioning.

Toavoiddamagingtheelectronic/electricalsystems,alwaysfollowthesafetyinstructionsbelow:
1.Nevermakeorbreakanyofthechargingcircuitconnections,includingthebatteryconnections,whentheengine
isrunning.
2.Nevershortanyofthechargingcomponentstoground.
3.Alwaysdisconnectthegroundcablefromthebatterybeforearcweldingonthemachineoranyheaderattached
tothemachine.
•Positiontheweldergroundclampasclosetotheweldingareaaspossible.
•Ifweldingincloseproximitytoacomputermodule,themoduleshouldberemovedfromthemachine.
•Neverallowweldingcablestolayon,near,oracrossanyelectricalwiringorelectroniccomponentwhilewelding
isinprogress.
4.Alwaysdisconnectthenegativecablefromthebatterywhenusingabatterychargertocarryoutchargingproce-
duresonthemachine.
NOTICE:Ifweldinghastobecarriedoutonthemachineortheheader(ifitisattached),disconnectthebatteryground
cablefromthemachinebattery.Theelectronicmonitoringsystemandchargingsystemwillbedamagedifthisisnot
done.
Removethebatterygroundcable.Reconnectthecablewhenweldingiscompleted.
WARNING
Batteryacidcausessevereburns.Batteriescontainsulfuricacid.Avoidcontactwithskin,eyesorclothing.
Antidote-EXTERNAL:ushwithwater.INTERNAL:drinklargequantitiesofwaterormilk.Followwithmilk
ofmagnesia,beateneggorvegetablesoil.Callphysicianimmediately.EYES:ushwithwaterfor15minutes
andgetpromptmedicalattention.
