Safety Instrucons
Intended Use
The posioner is a laboratory device as dened
by DIN EN 61010-1. It is intended to be used in
interior spaces and in an environment which is
free of dirt, oil and lubricants.
In accordance with its design, the posioner
is intended for posioning and adjusng of
loads at dierent velocies. The posioner is
not intended for applicaons in areas in which
a failure would present severe risks to human
beings or the environment.
The intended use of the posioner is only
possible when completely mounted and con-
nected and only in combinaon with a suitable
controller.
The posioner may only be installed, operated,
maintained and cleaned by authorized and
appropriately qualied personnel.
Installaon
If the drive screw of the posioner is not co-
vered, there is a risk of serious injury from hair,
jewelry or clothing becoming trapped.
XShield areas with rotang components.
XDo not work on an unprotected posioner
with loose hair, hanging jewelry or loose-t-
ng clothing.
There is a risk of minor injuries from crushing
between the moving parts of the posioner or
the load and a xed part or obstacle.
XUse protecve structures to keep limbs
away from areas in which they could be
seized by moving parts.
XMaintain safety distances in accordance
with DIN EN ISO 13857.
Electrostac discharge can damage the posi-
oner.
XIf the posioner is supplied with an ESD
protecve cap: Remove the ESD protecve
cap from the connector rst, when connec-
ng the posioner to the controller.
Mechanical forces can damage or misalign the
posioner.
XObserve the maximum permissible forces
(see manual).
XInclude the masses of the moved posio-
ners in mul-axis systems in the calcula-
ons.
Manually moving the plaorm can cause increa-
sed wear on posioners with a gearhead.
XOnly move the plaorm of posioners with
a gearhead manually if there is no other
possibility for moon.
Collisions can damage the posioner, the load
to be moved and the environment.
XMount the posioner and the load so that
the load cannot get jammed or blocked, or
collide with objects in the workspace.
Unsuitable mounng can warp the posioner
and reduce the accuracy.
XMount the posioner on an even surface
with similar thermal expansion properes
(for recommended evenness, see manual).
A cable break leads to a failure of the posi-
oner.
XInstall the posioner so that the cable is
not bent or squeezed too severely during
operaon.
Heat produced during operaon can aect your
applicaon.
XInstall the posioner so that your applica-
on is not aected by the dissipang heat.
Start-Up
Operang voltages that are too high or incor-
rectly connected can cause damage to the
posioner.
XOnly use compable controllers.
XObserve the operang voltage range of the
posioner (see manual).
XObserve the correct pin assignment (see
manual).
The posioner can carry out an unintenonal
moon when being connected to the controller.
XBefore connecng the posioner, check
whether a macro is dened as the start-up
macro in the controller and cancel the
selecon if necessary.

Uncontrolled oscillaons can damage your
applicaon or the posioner.
XIf oscillaons occur, immediately switch o
the servo mode or stop the posioner.
XCheck the sengs of the servo-control
parameters (see manual).
High acceleraons can cause damage to or con-
siderable wear on the mechanical system.
XStop the moon immediately if a controller
malfuncon occurs.
XApproach the end of the travel range at low
velocity.
Mounng the Posioner and Axing the Load
NOTICE!
Damage from incorrect mounng.
XLinear stage: When the moon axis
is aligned vercally, the load must be
lower than the holding force of the
drive (see manual).
XRotary stage: When the posioner is
mounted vercally, the load must be
lower than the maximum torque of
the drive (see manual).
NOTICE!
Damage from incorrect mounng of the
screws.
XSelect screw length according to the
depth of the mounng holes.
XDo not let screw heads protrude.
XMount the posioner to the provided
mounng holes.
XAx the load to the provided mounng
holes.
XCheck that the posioner and the load are
axed rmly.
Correct mounng
Unsuitable mounng surface
Incorrect alignment of the load
Incorrect mounng of the screws
