Intended Use
The posioner is a laboratory device as dened
by DIN EN 61010-1. It is intended for indoor use
and use in an environment that is free of dirt,
oil, and lubricants.
In accordance with its design, the posioner
is intended for posioning loads at various
velocies in interval mode. The posioner is not
intended for applicaons in areas where failure
would be a considerable risk for people or the
environment.
It is only possible to use the posioner as in-
tended when completely installed and connect-
ed, and in conjuncon with suitable electronics.
The posioner may only be installed, operated,
maintained, and cleaned by authorized and
appropriately qualied personnel.
Installaon
Electrostac discharge can damage the posi-
oner.
XRemove the ESD protecve cap from the
connector only aer the posioner has
been connected to the electronics.
Mechanical forces can damage or misalign the
posioner.
XAvoid shocks and drops.
XPay aenon to the maximum permissible
forces (see manual).
XPay aenon to at contact surfaces and
similar thermal expansion properes for
the base area and load (see manual).
XLinear stage: When the moon axis is
oriented vercally, the load must be lower
than the holding force of the drive (see
manual).
Rotaon stage: When the stage is mounted
vercally, the load must be lower than the
maximum torque of the drive (see manual).
XThe calculaons must also include the
masses of posioners moved in mul-axis
systems.
The posioner could be damaged by contami-
naon or ambient condions that increase the
electrical conducvity.
XKeep the posioner free of lubricants, dirt,
condensaon, and conducve materials.
XDo not operate a vacuum-compable posi-
oner during evacuaon.
XDo not touch the encoder's scale or the
ceramic rail of the Q-Moon® drive.
The Encoder's Scale and the Ceramic Rail of
the Q-Moon® Drive
Incorrectly ed screws and locang pins can
cause damage.
XPay aenon to the maximum ghtening
torque (see manual).
XDo not allow screw heads to protrude.
XSelect the screw length according to the
depth of the mounng holes.
XDo not insert locang pins too deeply into
the moon plaorm.
Startup
If a protecve earth conductor is not properly
connected, touching the posioner in the case
of malfuncon can result in minor injuries from
electric shock.
XOperate the posioner only with a properly
connected protecve earth conductor.
XPay aenon to the applicable standards
for the protecve earth conductor connec-
on.
The surface of the posioner and the surround-
ings can heat up during operaon. Touching
the posioner can result in minor injuries from
burning.
XIf necessary, install touch protecon.
XAvoid overheang the posioner, e.g., by
reducing the stepping frequency (see man-
ual) or cooling the surface area.
