Press unlock symbol
to open ink cartridge cover.
Remove old print head by
lifting one of the black tabs and
pulling print head towards you.
DO NOT DISCARD.
Place onto napkin.
CAUTION: Be careful not to touch
the bottom of the print head.
Remove new print head protective
parts by squeezing the yellow tabs
on the white print head holder.
Keep this part to re-package the old
print head to return to Pitney Bowes.
Remove ink cartridge by angling
towards you while lifting and place it to
one side for reuse later. Take care! -
cartridge may leak from bottom. Place
onto a spare piece of paper or similar.
A. Scroll until Use Ink Functions?
displays. Press Enter/yes.
B.Scroll until Install new print
head? displays. Press Enter/yes.
Press Options.

Open top cover.
Remove yellow piece by
pulling the side.
Keep this part to re-package
the old print head.

DM50 Series Print Head Replacement Instructions
Press together the two
small tabs at the bottom of
the ink cartridge holder.
Swing this piece upward
and back.

Failure of your print head may be due to third party ink. We strongly recommend using genuine Pitney Bowes ink.
While there are companies that claim to offer “compatible” ink cartridges for Pitney Bowes mailing systems, the risks

Swing down ink cartridge
latch. Press down on the
green circle nearest to you
to close.
Insert tape sheet or envelope
to print test pattern.
If the test print is good, press
Enter/yes.
If the test print is poor, press
no to perform additional
maintenance.
Close top cover.
Press Enter/yes.
Swing down the print
head guard until it clicks
into place.
Refit the ink cartridge you
removed at step 5. Angle
cartridge down and back.
Fit the new print head.
Angle print down and
back.
At the above prompt, press
Enter/yes.
The system will go through a
process to install the ink into
the new print head. This will
take a few minutes.
Place old print head into the
box that your new print head
came in. Completely seal the
box and cover the original
shipping label with the return
label. Place in mail.

Place old print head into the
yellow and white protection
parts.
A. Slide yellow piece onto the
top of the old print head.
B. Place bottom of print head
into white piece. (Do not touch
bottom of print head).
C. Push print head down into
white piece until it clicks into
place.
