1.2.1 Front viewand keypad function:
♦ C: Cancel and Clear
♦ çè : Move to left /previousand right/next.
♦ OK: PressOK to confirmthe modification.

♦ “+”and -key: Adjust voice volume in communication.

2. BASIC CONFIGURATION
This chapter shows you the starting point of VIP-100Tto be
integrated into yournetwork and/or Internet. Configuration steps
in this quick guide will befocused on keypad configuration. More
detail configuration, including keypad, web, and telnet
instructions will be illustrated in respectivechaptersin user’s
manual.
2.1Initialize VIP-100T
2.1.1 Start up
(a)Poweron, the LCD screen showsas below.
(b)Wait amoment until VIP-100Tfinishesboot program
initialization.
(c)You can see flashing greeting as below:
(d)Then VIP-100Twill comeinto standbymode: The main
LCD screen would be shown assimilar as following. The
P2Pwordmeans VIP-100Tis nowin Peer-to-PeerMode,
and when VIP-100Tisconnected to SNTP server, on LCD
will showcurrent time obtained fromSNTP server.

(i) Connect Configuration
There aresub-menusunder ConnectConfiguration.If
you have obtained configuration information fromyour
ITSP, pleaseinsert the parameter in order to complete
configuration.
(1)IPaddress
In thisconfiguration mode, pleasepressthe prepared IP
Addresson the VIP-100T keypad, the IPaddressformat
should be: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.
(2)SubnetMask:
Please insert proper subnet mask parameter via keypad.
(3)Gateway
Please insert proper default gatewayIPthat meets the
network environment on yourside.

Please insert DNSIPaddressinthisoption; in most
circumstances,the DNS server IPaddress can be obtained
fromISP.
(5)SecondaryDNS
Please insertbackup DNS serverIPaddresshere. Ifthe
primaryDNS serverfailed, domain nameresolution in
VIP-100T willnot be affected.
(6)GateKeeper
Ifmachine is runningin GKmode, you’ll need to configureat
leastone GateKeeper server IPAddressand set thisIP
Address via VIP-100T keypad. (In most circumstances,GK
IPaddress)
(7)Second GateKeeper
VIP-100T providesalternativeGateKeeperfeature, if
VIP-100T can’t registerto Main GateKeeperfor 10 times, it
will tryto register to the Second GateKeeper.When main
GateKeeper can’tworknormally,VIP-100T can still keep
working with Second GateKeeper

DNSisa MUST-HAVE

operating in GKmode, in most cases, the DNS server
can be omitted.

If you cannot ensure the GK related parameters,

(8)SNTPConfiguration
VIP-100T supportsSNTP(Simple Network TimeProtocol)
forproper timedisplay.You‘ll need to offer one available
SNTPserverIPAddress, sothat VIP-100T will display
correct time information on yourside.
SNTPMode:
(a)SNTPServer:
Please specifyaSNTPserver for VIP-100T to obtain
current time information.
(b) Time Zone:
You can set timezone according to the location VIP-100T is.
For example, in Taiwan the timezone should be set as
8,whichmeansGMT+8, inthemeantime, you maypress *”
as -.
(9)Connection Mode
There are twotypes that are Peer-to-Peer (P2P)and
Gatekeeper (GK)mode forVIP-100T to connectto other
devices.Pleasemove the ~”symbol bypress çor èon
the keypad to selectoperation mode meeting the
operation mode on yournetworkenvironment. Machine
default running mode isP2P mode.
(10)DHCPMode (ON/Off)
VIP-100T can operate in DHCPclient mode. Ifthere is a
DHCPin the sameIPsegment; VIP-100T can obtain
TCP/IPparametersfromthe DHCPserverautomatically.
(11)Token Password
Usage ofthe token password can be illustrated asbelow:
(a)LCD menu password:
You mayconfigure the logon passwordfor entering LCD

If the SNTPserver option is not configured, VIP-
100T
will onlydisplaysystemup time, and no current time
display.

configuration menu. Default password is x”(lowercase).
(b) H.235 security:
Token password also can be used to setup RRQ/ARQ
authentication token password in Gatekeeper operation
environment. IfVIP-100T wantsto registerto aGateKeeper,
whichdemands for H.235 securitytoken feature, please
configure token password here. In most cases,you mayget
the password fromGateKeeperadministrator.IfGK
demands forH.235 authentication, VIP-100T can’twork
normallywith thisGateKeeper unlessToken Password is
set.
(12)Management Center
This option isreserved for support service, please leavethis
in default configuration (255.255.255.255)..
(13)GRQ Option
In GK operation environment, VIP-100Tcan find the GKvia
auto discoveryfunction. If thisfunction is enabled and IP
addressof GateKeeper isset as255.255.255.255,
VIP-100Twillmulticastto search the GateKeeperon
network with configured GateKeeper ID (please refer to(14)
Gatekeeper ID); ifIP addressof GateKeeper isset, before
VIP-100Tregister to the assigned GateKeeper, it will send
out GRQ (GateKeeper Request) message with configured
GateKeeper name to GateKeeper first.
(14)GateKeeper ID
GateKeeper ID (name)isrequired for GateKeeper auto
discoveryfunction. When VIP-100Tsending out
GateKeeper discoverymessage, itwill searchGateKeeper
with thisconfigured GK ID, and register with UserLine
Name, and number.

In GK operation environment, you’ll need to configure
one ID to complete the registration toward
the
GateKeeper.

(ii) User Line Number
While machine is operating in GK mode, you’ll need to
configure at leastone number for the VIP-100T to register to
the GateKeeper.Up to 10 different numberscan be setup in
VIP-100T.

(iii) Firmware Update
Download method
There are two methods to download new firmware (rom)
file, pleasemovethe ~”symbol by press çor èon the
keypad to select TFTP or FTP method, then pressOKto
confirmit.
(a)Set FTPServer IP
When proceeding firmware upgrade, you maychoose to
offer either TFTPorFTPserver IPAddressto complete
firmware upgrade. Please insertIPaddressof TFTP/FTP
server, which has proper firmware file.

If you’dliketo disable aspecificnumber,please
insert sixzero 000000

Set FTPuser account
IfFTPmethod is chosen, pleasekeyin the username
and password forFTPserver access.
Indicate file name
In eitherTFTPor FTPfirmwareupgrade mode, you’ll
need to assign the firmware file namein TFTPor FTP
servervia keypad.
Start Download
PressOK to startdownload newfirmware file in
TFTP/FTPserver.Afterfirmware upgrade completed,
VIP-100T willreboot automatically.
Firmware Version
DisplayVIP-100T firmwareand hardware related
information.
(iv) Hardware Test
VIP-100T integrates self-test functionalityto ensure
machine proper operation. Please follow the messages on
LCD panel to complete the self-diagnostics.
(v) Reboot
Ifmodification is made to VIP-100T,please confirmallthe
parameters are properlyconfigured, and use this Reboot
option to make the changes effective.

3.MAKING CALLS
There areseveral waysto makecallsto desired destination in
VIP-100T.In this chapter, we’lllead you step by step to establish
your first voice communication via keypad operations..
3.1IP address call (P2P mode):
Please go to third level ofconfiguration menu, and press çor
èand OK button to select Connection Mode menu.
There are twotypesthat are Peer-to-Peer (P2P)and
Gatekeeper (GK)mode for VIP-100Tto connectto other
devices.Please move the ~”symbol bypress çor èon the
keypad to select operation mode meeting the operation mode
on your networkenvironment.

3.1.1 P2P mode Operation Steps:
(a)Go to third level ofVIP-100T’sconfiguration menu, and
press çor èand OK button to select IP address,and
insert value via keypad.
(b) Go up one level, and press çor èand OK button to select
SubnetMask, and insert value via keypad.
(c) Go up one level, and press çor èand OK button to select
Gateway and insert value via keypad.
(d) Go to second level of the LCD displayconfiguration menu,
and press çor èand OK button to select Reboot

After setting up networking parameters, you may directlydial the
destination IP addressto establishthe voicecommunication
toward desired personnel.
Operation steps:
Pick up the telephone set or pressthe Speaker”phone button,
and dial the IP addressyou’d like to connect to.
For example, we’dliketo place acall to IP address:192.168.0.2
