05 1. Preparation.
1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for
completeness, lack of faults and any trans-
port damage.
Inspect the goods in the presence of your
forwarder
Should transport damage have occurred,
please arrange for an inventory (determina-
tion of the faults) to be made in the presence
of the forwarder. Please send a complaint in
writing to the specialist dealer responsible.
You receive the product completely assemb-
led and ready for adaptation. Only the push
handle is dismantled for transport, and must
be remounted using 4 screws.
To assemble, use the Allen key included in the
delivery and first remove the 4 screws on the
adapter(A).
Then please hold the push handle on the ad-
apter (B) and fasten the screws (first at the
top) with the Allen key.
Finally, remove the cover on the front side of
the battery pack box, insert the connector of the push handle into the
intended adapter (C) and mount the cover once again.
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
The correct use of the product requires a detailed and careful instruction
of the user or the accompanying person. We ask you to read through the
Instructions for use carefully prior to initial commissioning of the product,
and to observe them. It is possible that product parts that get in contact
with the skin may heat up in the sun. Cover these areas or protect the
device from direct sunlight.

1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the
disposal instructions in points 1.3.1 and 1.3.2.
1.3.1 Packaging
The packaging of the product should be kept for any future transport that
might be required. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in
case of a guarantee claim, please if possible use the original box so that
the product is optimally packaged. Otherwise, separate the packaging
materials for recycling according to their classification.
Do not leave packaging materials unattended, as they are a possible source of
danger.
1.3.2 Product

according to their nature (see material information under point 2.1).
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these Inst-
ructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use. Should you lose

2. Product description.
2.1 Material information
All steel elements (screws, nuts...) are galvanised, nickel-plated or made
from stainless steel. All body supports are padded, covered and fire-re-
sistant. The fire-resistant covers are made from polyurethane and robust
nylon. The frame is made from steel or aluminium, welded and powder-co-
ated. Some frame components can also be made of stainless steel. The
straps are produced from polypropylene or a nylon textile. Plastic compo-
nents are produced in an injection moulding procedure. All materials are
free of latex, lead and phthalates.

2.2 Handling / transport
The mobility and transfer aid is not intended for carrying, since it is
equipped with castors. Should you have to carry the equipment due to
obstacles, ensure that all moving parts are tightened. Subsequently, two
persons should stand each on one side of the transfer and mobility aid,
grab the front and rear at the side frame and carry it to the desired loca-
tion. To transport the transfer aid, reduce all adjustments to their most
compact size (close leg expander, etc.)
2.3 Application areas, use according to the intended purpose
The tram. transfer and mobility aid is a medical product of risk class 1 and
for indoor use. It was developed for the safety, comfort and at the same
time to preserve the dignity of patients and accompanying persons. tram.
can lift and move patients with dierent physical conditions.
2.3.1 Indication
The tram. transfer and mobility aid is designed for users who manifest a
significant to fully pronounced impairment of being able to change body
position and walking. This is often the result neuromuscular damage, am-
putation of one of the lower extremities / of the lower extremities or with
neurological disorders.
2.3.2 Contraindications
In general, the indications for walking and standing should be approved
by a doctor or orthopaedist. Therefore, before using the tram. it should be
checked if there are any contraindications from the patient's side. In gene-
ral, any type of pain represents a contraindication.
Caution! Depending on the disease symptoms and therapy, please clarify
how long the user may stand in the transfer and mobility aid. The following
symptoms may occur in some cases:
• Circulation problems
• Pain in the leg and back areas
• Spastic seizures
It must also be clarified whether the user can be brought into full standing
position. For many users, only standing in a bent position is possible.

2.4 Use not in accordance with the intended purpose / warning guide-
lines
• Please read these Instructions for use carefully prior to initial use of the
transfer and mobility aid.
• Correct usage of the transfer and mobility aid requires precise and ca-
reful training of the accompanying person.
• Patients feel a light pressure on their lower abdomen. For this reason,
the transfer and mobility aid is not suitable for people with skin which is
sensitive to pressure.
• Do not use the transfer and mobility aid on uneven terrain or
close to staircases.
• Immediately stop lifting a person as soon as the body-support system
slides under the armpits. This can be caused through very smooth outer
clothing, low body tension or an unsuitable body shape.
• Never lift the patient higher than required for the transfer.
• During the transfer, the leg expander must always be brought into home
position. During walking training, on the other hand, the abducted posi-
tion of the basic frame can be used for lateral stabilisation.
• The strap system must be carefully adjusted in order to guarantee the
safety of the patient.
• Ensure prior to each use of the transfer and mobility aid that the straps
are safely hooked into the coloured clips.
• Never leave a patient unattended in the transfer and mobility aid.
• Observe the max. load and the max. body height (see Point 5).
• Do not use the transfer and mobility aid if it has defective, worn or
missing parts. Only use accessories and spare parts made by
Schuchmann, otherwise you will endanger the patient.
• Only use the transfer and mobility aid if all components have been
correctly mounted and adjusted.
• Risk of crushing and trapping: Ensure that no hands or feet are close to
the telescopic lifting column when lifting the patient. The same applies
with regard to the use of the leg expander.
• Before using
tram. ensure that the available room height is sucient to
avoid injuries to the head.
• Please ensure that none of the user's extremities are in the respective
area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the risk of injury.
• Please read out the Instructions for use for users suering from a visual
or reading impairment, so that they can use the therapy aid safely.

Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user's extremities are in
the respective area when making adjustments of any kind to minimise the
risk of injury.
3.1 Push handle
The push handle permits the accom-
panying person to manoeuvre the
tram. It is removed for shipping and
must be installed first (see Point 1.1).
With the aid of the integrated ope-
rating switch (A), the accompanying
person can lift or lower the body
support system with only one single
switch, which is positioned on the right
steering lever.

3.2 Battery pack box
The battery pack box contains the micro-
processor required for the drive and the con-
trol as well as the battery pack. To use the
battery pack, please press the red button /
emergency stop button (A) on the battery
pack box and lift the cover. Now you can in-
sert the battery pack. Close the cover until it
engages audibly. To remove the battery pack,
press again the red button / emergency o
button (A) and pull out the battery pack (B).
Press the red button / emergency o button (A)
even when the tram. is not in use to avoid
unintentional switching on.
For optimum use of the battery pack, we recommend that you charge it every
night - even if the battery pack still shows a green light.
3.3 Battery pack display
The LED display on the battery pack box dis-
plays the charging status of the battery pack.
• green = charging status sucient
• yellow = charge battery pack soon
• red = low charging status
An acoustic signal sounds when the battery pack is completely empty.
Up to 70 lifting procedures can be carried out with a fully-charged battery
pack. In order to avoid damage to the battery pack, charge this as soon
as the yellow lamp lights up. The control lamp goes out after approx. 10
minutes after the last activation of the operating switch on the push hand-
le. It switches on again as soon as the operating switch is pressed or the
battery pack is inserted into the battery pack box.
When the battery pack reaches a critical level, the microprocessor will de-
activate the operating switch. However, the button for emergency lowering
will continue to function.
Charge or change the battery pack immediately when the battery pack display
lights up red. Do not try any further lifting attempts or transfers.
Prior to use, press the operating switch in order to activate the battery pack dis-
play and ensure that the battery pack lights up green. If this is not the case, char-
ge or change the battery pack.

3.4 Emergency off button
Press the red emergency o button on
the front side of the battery pack to
immediately stop the drive of the tram.
in the event of an emergency. Close the
cover to resume operation of the tram.
3.5 Emergency lowering button
The emergency lowering button (A) is
located on the front of the battery
pack box. With the aid of this button,
you can, in case the operating switch
on the push handle malfunctions, lo-
wer the body support system again.
Press the emergency lowering button
until the body support system is in the
required position.
The emergency lowering point will function at any time - even if the charging
status of the battery pack is in the red range.
Every accompanying person must familiarise themselves with the position and
operation of the emergency stop button and the emergency lowering button.
3.6 Scales (optional)
The optional scales of the tram. permit the
accompanying person easy weighing of a
patient during a routine transfer. In addi-
tion, the operator can determine possible
strains but also advancements of a patient
with the aid of the scales during supported
walking. To use the scales, first switch on the
display (B) and select via the lb/kg button (C)
whether the results should be shown in pounds or kilograms. Prior to use of
the scales, fasten all straps onto the patient (leg straps, arm supports etc.)
and then press the ZERO button (D), to set the scales to zero. Now lift the
patient. As soon as the patient is supported completely by the tram., you
can read the weight on the display.

There are two methods of measuring strain
experienced during supported walking.
Method 1 - Determination of the load borne
by tram. :
Set the scales to zero as previously described
and bring the patient into the walking posi-
tion using the body support system and the
groin harness (see Point 3.12). Now you can
read o the display how high the load is that is borne by tram. .
Method 2 - Determination of the load which the patient can cope with:
Lift up the patient completely with the aid of the leg straps and determine
their weight (as described above). Now press
the ZERO button (A). Now bring the patient
into the walking position using the groin har-
ness (see Point 3.12). The load which can be
taken over by patients can now be read o
the display (please ignore the minus sign).
To change the batteries, press on the outsi-
de of the cover (B), remove it and insert new
batteries (AA).
For exact determination of the weight, the patients must be completely lifted
up. The feet or legs may not contact the oor or the base frame of the tram.
General guidelines:
• For operation of the scales, 4 batteries (AA) are required which are su-
cient for approx. 500 weight measurements.
• The scales switch o automatically after 10 minutes if these are no lon-
ger in use.
• If used correctly, the scales are accurate to 1%.
• Every 3-5 years (depending on their use), the scales should be calibra-
ted by a specialist. For maintenance instructions, please contact your
specialist dealer (see Point 9.5).

3.7 Direction locks (optional)
Direction locks ensure straight running
of the tram. without lateral drifting. The
use of the direction locks in the front
castors make it easier for the accom-
panying person to steer during trans-
fer. The use of the direction locks in the
rear castors, on the other hand, stabi-
lise the tram.during gait training.
Assembly
For installation, insert the assem-
bly with the red head facing up in
the slits on the end of the frame. The
slits are each located directly over the
castors. The clicking noise indicates
that the assembly has been inserted
correctly.
Use
To use a direction lock, the respective castor must be aligned so that it is
straight (B). Then press the pin (A) downwards as far as it will go. Pull the pin
back up again in order to deactivate the direction lock.
3.8 Leg expander
Thanks to its compact size, the tram.
fits without any problems through a 76
cm narrow door frame. Lifting into or
out of wide wheelchairs is guaranteed
through the activation of the leg ex-
pander, which brings the base frame
into an abducted position. Move the
leg expander to the right in order to
expand the frame and to the left in or-
der to close it again (C).
Loosen all direction locks prior to activa-
tion of the leg expander.
Ensure that no hands and feet are located in the area of the leg expander.

3.9 Body support system
The innovative body support system has a
padded torso guidance which secures and
stabilises the patient. Accompanying per-
sons are thus able to prepare the patient
quickly for safe transport. It includes a pad-
ded torso guidance (A), handles (B), clips with
colour markings (C) and a safety strap (D).
Press both locks at the same time in order to
open the safety strap (D). The following ele-
ments can be mounted on the body support
system:
• Leg straps (see Point 3.11)
• Groin harness (see Point 3.12)
• padded forearm supports (see Point 3.10)
3.10 Padded forearm supports (optional)
The padded forearm supports of the tram.
oer patients with limited muscle tone or the
arms of which must be secured, additional
support when standing and walking. In order
to fulfil all requirements, they permit align-
ment in any direction.
If the padded forearm supports are ordered to-
gether with the tram., the brackets are already
pre-mounted.
Mounting the brackets
• If you have ordered the padded forearm
supports, you sill have to attach the bra-
ckets on the body support system of the
tram..
• Remove the oval plastic cover (E) from both
arms of the body support system
• Now you can attach the bracket (F) with
the large end pointing upwards) to the
body support system.
After installation, please re-tighten all screw
connections!

Adjustments to the padded forearm supports
Height adjustment:
Press the button (A) and bring the fo-
rearm supports to the required height.
By loosening the screw connection (B),
the following adjustments can be
made on the forearm supports:
• Distance to the user
• Tilt
• Rotation
• Movement in longitudinal direction
Adjustment of the handle (D):
• Loosen the screw connection (C)
• For dierent lower arm lengths, the
handle (D) can now be pushed forwards or
backwards
• The angle, too, can be brought into the
correct position
The arm strap (E) and the hand loop (F) secu-
re the arm on the lower arm support. In ad-
dition, the hand loop (F) prevents inadvertent
slipping from the underarm support.
After installation, please re-tighten all screw
connections!
Removal of the brackets:
• Loosen the screw (G) on both arms of the
body support system
• Now remove the brackets (H)
• Then mount the oval plastic cover (I)

3.11 Leg straps for seated transfer
Step 1:
While the patient sits upright and with slightly raised
arms, position the supports of the tram. body sup-
port system around the chest of the patient, some
centimetres below the armpits.
Step 2:
Secure the patient tightly with the buckle by closing
the belt lock and tightening the strap.
Step 3:
Fasten the leg straps (with the grey side facing up)
onto one of the coloured clips on each side of the
body support system. In case of patients with low
muscle tonicity, select a hook further to the rear for
improved support. Pull the strap tight and ensure
that both leg straps are positioned below the pati-
ent`s thighs and adjusted equally.
Step 4:
Lift up the patient. Observe the process carefully to
ensure that the patient is sitting comfortable and is
not sagging. Now the transfer can be carried out. If
necessary, activate the direction locks to make pus-
hing in a straight direction easier. Loosen the direc-
tion locks for sideways manoeuvres.
Step 5:
Lower the patient onto the seat. Once you have po-
sitioned the patient, avoid lowering them too far so
that the body support system does not press onto
the hips. (tram. is automatically switched o and
beeps when it encounters resistance.) Loosen the
ring of the leg strap and pull away the belts from
underneath the patient. Then loosen the buckle on
the rear side.

3.12 Groin harness (optional) for standing up or walking
Step 1:
Position the groin harness underneath the patient,
either by lifting the patient using the leg straps (see
the first four steps under Point 3.11) or by moving the
patient on one side and positioning the groin har-
ness in the meantime underneath the patient.
Step 2:
Fasten the rings of the groin harness to the colou-
red clips on the body support system. For optimum
positioning, the front and rear straps should cross.
The front straps should be fastened onto the rear
side of the body support system as shown in the two
photos on the right.
Step 3:
If you lift the patient, pull the
tram. gently towards yourself to imitate the natural,
curved process of standing up. Monitor the process
precisely to ensure that the patient is supported
appropriately and comfortably by the tram. while
being lifted.
Step 4:
Adjust the height of the tram. in such a way that the
patient can walk comfortably. The body support
system should not be positioned too high under the
armpits (shorten the groin harness shoulder straps
as required) and the patient should be in a position
to grab the handles without having to lean too far
forward. Check whether the groin harness is positi-
oned under the patient as shown.

3.13 Using the toilet with the tram.
Step 1:
Position the patient over the toilet seat
using the tram. . Leave enough spa-
ce to be able to take o the necessary
clothing. Lock the brakes on the front
castors of the tram..
Step 2:
Loosen and remove the leg straps one
after the other so that the patient's feet
touch the ground and can bear some
weight. The padded torso guidance and
the arms of the patient bear the rest of
the weight.
Step 3:
Take o the required clothing so that the
patient can go to the toilet.
Step 4:
Lower the patient onto the toilet seat.
tram. permits the patient to use the to-
ilet privately, while being stabilised in a
safe manner.

20 4. Cleaning and servicing.
4.1 Cleaning and disinfecting
4.1.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements regularly with a spon-
ge or damp cloth; making sure that water droplets are
removed. Please clean with a mild household deter-
gent for severer dirt. Thorough drying of the cleaned
areas is important.
All fabrics that cannot be removed can be wiped with
a moist cloth. For all removable fabrics please pay at-
tention to the sewn-in care labels (such as A+ B) on the
respective element.
Please also pay attention to our general
cleaning and hygiene advice. This can be found at
www.schuchmann.de/mediathek.
4.1.2 Disinfection
Various products can be used for surface disinfection of metal and plastic
parts.
Liquid disinfectants are available as ready-to-use solutions that are spray-
ed on and evenly applied with a soft cloth. Alternatively, wipes pre-soaked
with disinfectant can be used to wipe the products over the entire surface.
In both cases, care must be taken to ensure complete wetting. Disinfection
in fully automatic disinfection systems is also possible and recommended.
The exposure times may vary and can be found in the manufacturer's ins-
tructions for the products used.
4.2 Servicing
Please carry out a visual inspection on a daily basis and regularly check
the product for cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a
defect or malfunction, please contact the specialist dealer who supplied
you with the product (see Point 7.5).
4.3 Maintenance
For reasons of user safety and to retain product liability, the product must
be subjected to maintenance by a specialist dealer at least once a year
(see Point 7.5). The maintenance work carried out must be documented in
the maintenance plan (see Point 4.3.2).
