1 About this product
1 About this product
The Migration SE office furniture product line by Steelcase is
subject to continuous quality control during manufacture and
distribution. This ensures fault-free functionality.
Steelcase applies a quality management system that meets
the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001.
The Migration SE system with Up/Down and Memory
control panel is GS-qualified and has the CE marking.
The electric height adjustment unit type plate is
located on the controller housing, on the columns,
and under the desktop near the control panel.
1.1 Intended use
The Migration SE product is exclusively designed to be used
as office furniture. Any other use, or use beyond the specified
intended use is considered to be improper.
Intended use also includes following all instructions
in the user guide.
1.1.1 Foreseeable misuse
Improper use of the product can result in dangers to life and
limb as well as property damage. For this reason, improper use
is prohibited. In the event of improper use, Steelcase assumes
no liability for any damage that could occur and does not
guarantee that the components will function properly.
Possible improper use includes:

Type plates are located on the power lift housing, on the
columns, and under the desktop near the control panel.
Type plate: symbols – explanation
Double insulation. Double insulated cables
minimise the risk of electrical shock.
For indoor use. Indicates that placing the
product outdoors is not allowed.
Read operator's manual. To indicate that
the operator's manual or card should be read
before continuing the operation.
Rated duty cycle.Maximum activation time
(time on) followed by a minimum deac-
tivation time (time off) necessary for the safe
operation of the furniture.
CE marking. Used to symbolise the
conformity of the product with the applicable
requirements that the European Community
places on the manufacturer.

UKCA marking. Used to symbolise the
conformity of the product with the applicable
requirements that the United Kindom places
on the manufacturer.
Recycling symbol. Used to indicate
conformity with the regulations for Waste
Electric and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
and the Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Act (ElektroG). Electrical and electronic
products must be disposed of separately
from household waste at the end of their
service life.
The CE and UKCA marking is located on the
underside of the desktop and can be viewed at
any time.

3.1 Safety instructions
DANGER
Danger of crushing and shearing!
Body parts or objects could be crushed or sheared off as a
result of the electrical height adjustment process.
}Maintain sufficient lateral clearance (at least 25 mm)
to all surrounding objects, walls, etc. throughout the
lifting range.
}Set up the desk in such a manner that there is suf-
ficient space for lift movements and for the per-
formance of maintenance tasks.

WARNING
Risk of injury or damage!
The fastening screws could tear if the desk is lifted by the
desktop or the attached components.
}Always grab the desk at the underframe to transport
or move it.
3.2 Assembly
Please follow the provided assembly instructions to assemble
the Migration SE product.
3.3 Electrical connection
DANGER
Electrical voltage on damaged cables or
loose connections!
Contact with electrical voltage may lead to severe injuries and
death from electric shock.
}Regularly check electrical equipment for damage and
repair any damage.
}Damaged cables and loose connections must be
repaired immediately.
}Attach or detach connectors only when the equip-
ment is de-energised.
The plug of the desk must be easily accessible at all
times.

4 Operating and adjusting
4.1 Safety instructions
The Migration SE may only be used and operated in perfect
technical condition and in compliance with the user guide.
Before adjusting the height of the desk, ensure that:
■The desktop is level. In case of uneven floors, adjust
the height using the adjusting screws on the feet.
■No people or objects (e.g. open doors or windows)
are in the lifting range, or protrude into in the lifting
range.
■No one is on the desk.
■The maximum permissible desk load-carrying
capacity is not exceeded.
CAUTION
Crushing or tripping hazard at the Migration
SE Fence!
Risk of minor injury or material damage.
}Carefully open and close the fence.
}Carefully step over fence feet.
}Do not store any objects in the fence.

Safety labels for Migration SE Fence
DANGER
Electric shock due to electrical voltage!
Contact with voltage can cause severe injury or death due to
electric shock.
}Attach or detach connectors only when the equip-
ment is de-energised.
}Do not open the housings of the following com-
ponents:
–Power lift
–Columns and control panel
}Do not place any liquids on the cork tray on the Oval
Electrification Box.

Electrical voltage!
The metal parts of the desk can become energised if live
cables and connections are damaged.
}Do not earth electrical devices on the desk frame.
WARNING
Risk of injuries and damage!
The fastening screws could tear if the desk is lifted by the
desktop or the attached components.
}Always grab the desk at the underframe to transport
or move it.
}Do not load the CPU holder with a weight higher than
the maximum permissible weight.
Ensure that the connecting cables of all devices on
the desk are long enough.
4.2 Height adjustment of the product
On the Lift 1/Lift 2 variant and MeetingTables, the height of
the Migration SE is adjusted via an electrically powered,
variable lifting mechanism. The Fix version (only for the table)
does not have direct height adjustment.

Optimum desk height:
The adjustment to the optimum desk height (sitting height) is
crucial for the correct sitting posture at the workstation. The
correct desk height setting for the workstation can be found in
the workstation analysis (pursuant to the German Occu-
pational Safety and Health Act, the German VDU Workplace
Ordinance, or accident prevention regulations, for example).

Guidelines for design.
Prior to putting the desk in service, it is necessary to
perform a manual reset. For the Up/Down control
panel, see Up/Down control panel below for the
Memory control panel, see Memory control panel on
page19.
4.2.1 Up/Down control panel
The control panel is located on the left- or right-hand side, on
the underside of the desktop.

Height adjustment – Up/Down control panel
1. Press the appropriate “Up or Down” button to
reach the desired desk height.
=The desktop moves up or down.
2. Release the “Up or Down” button.
üThe desktop stops at the desired point. The display
indicates the desk height.
Manual reset of desktop
Wait for 5 seconds if the desk has just been connected to the
mains.
1. Press and hold the "Down" button.
=The lower end position is reached.
2. Continue to hold the “Down” button for at least 3
seconds.
=The resetting and initialisation process is starting.
3. After conclusion of the resetting and initialisation
process, press the “Up” button.
üThe desired height is reached.

Releasing the control panel before the process is
completed will interrupt the manual resetting
process and it must be started anew.
Resetting to factory settings
This function can be used to reset the system to the factory
settings.
1. Search for the control unit to reset it.
2. Briefly press the "Down" button three times (then
release it again):
3. Simultaneously press the "Up" and "Down"
buttons:
4. Wait 5 seconds: then press and hold the "Up"
button until the green light goes out.

settings.

4.2.2 Memory control panel
Four different memory positions can be entered with the
Memory for Table & Bench control panel. Two different
memory positions can be entered with the Memory for Meeting
Tables control panel. All of the following operating instructions
are to be used in the same way on both control panels.

1. Press the appropriate “Up or Down” button to
reach the desired desk height.
=The desktop moves up or down.

üThe desktop stops at the desired point. The display
