1. Sicherheitsbestimmungen
Dieses Gerät kann in Kombination mit
gefährlichen Materialien verwendet
werden. Die Gebrauchsanleitung kann
jedoch nicht alle Sicherheitsprobleme
aufzeigen, die hierbei eventuell auf-
treten. Es liegt in der Verantwortung
des Anwenders, die Einhaltung der
Sicherheits- und Gesundheitsvorschriften
sicherzustellen und die entsprechenden
Einschränkungen vor Gebrauch festzu-
legen.
1. Jeder Anwender muss diese Ge-
brauchsanleitung vor Gebrauch
des Gerätes gelesen haben und
beachten.
2. Allgemeine Gefahrenhinweise und
Sicherheitsvorschriften befolgen,
z. B. Schutzkleidung, Augenschutz
und Schutzhandschuhe tragen.
3. Angaben der Reagenzienhersteller
beachten.
4. Gerät nicht in explosionsgefährdeter
Atmosphäre betreiben und keine
leicht entzündlichen Medien
pipettieren.
5. Gerät nur zum Pipettieren von
Flüssigkeiten und nur im Rahmen
der definierten Einsatzgrenzen
einsetzen. Bei Zweifel unbedingt an
den Hersteller oder Händler wenden.
6. Stets so arbeiten, dass weder der
Anwender noch andere Personen
gefährdet werden. Spritzer
vermeiden. Nur geeignete Gefäße
verwenden.
7. Nie Gewalt anwenden.
1. Safety Instructions
Because this instrument may be used
with hazardous materials, this Operat-
ing Manual does not purport to address
all of the safety problems associated
with its use. It is the responsibility of
whomever uses this instrument to
consult and establish appropriate safety
and health practices and to determine
the applicability of regulatory limita-
tions prior to use.
1. Every user must read and
understand this operating manual
before operation.
2. Follow the general instructions
for hazard prevention and safety
regulations, e.g., wear protective
clothing, eye protection and gloves.
3. Observe all specifications provided
by reagent manufacturers.
4. Never use the instrument in
an atmosphere with danger of
explosion. Highly flammable liquids
must not be pipetted.
5. Use the instrument only for
dispensing liquids, with strict regard
to the defined limitations of use. If
in doubt, contact the manufacturer
or supplier.
6. Always use the instrument in such
a way that neither the user nor any
other person is endangered. Avoid
splashes. Only dispense into suitable
vessels.
7. Never use force when using this
instrument.

8. Nur Original-Zubehör und
Original- Ersatzteile verwenden,
keine technischen Veränderungen
vornehmen. Das Gerät nicht
weiter zerlegen, als in der
Gebrauchsanleitung beschrieben ist.
9. Vor Verwendung stets den
ordnungsgemäßen Zustand des
Gerätes prüfen. Sollten sich
Störungen des Gerätes ankündigen,
sofort aufhören zu Pipettieren und
das Kapitel ‚Störung – was tun‘
befolgen (Seite 21). Ggf. an den
Hersteller wenden.
10.Zum Aufladen des Nickel-
Metallhydrid Akkus darf nur das
Original-Netzteil verwendet werden.
11.Das Netzteil ist vor Feuchtigkeit
zu schützen und darf nur in
Verbindung mit diesem Gerät
betrieben werden.
12.Reparaturen und Eingriffe in das
Gerät dürfen nur durch autorisierte
Service Techniker durchgeführt
werden.
13.Der Akku darf nicht gegen nicht
wiederaufladbare Akkus oder
wiederaufladbare Akkus anderer
Hersteller ausgetauscht werden
(s. Seite 14-15).
8. Only use original manufacturer’s
accessories and spare parts. Do
not attempt to make any technical
alterations. Do not dismantle the
instrument any further than is
described in the operating manual!
9. Always check the instrument for
visual damage before use. If there
is a sign of a potential malfunction,
immediately stop pipetting. Consult
the ‘Troubleshooting’ section of this
manual (see page 21), and contact
the manufacturer if needed.
10. Only the original AC adapter can
be used for recharging of the
nickelmetal hydride battery.
11. The AC adapter has to be protected
against moisture and must be used
only for this instrument.
12. Only authorized service personnel
may repair or service the
instrument.
13. The battery must not be replaced
with nonrechargeable batteries
or rechargeable batteries of other
manufacturers (see page 14-15).

Unsachgemäße Behandlung des
Gerätes oder des Akkus (Kurz-
schluss, mechan. Zerstörung, Über-
hitzung, etc.) kann in Extremfällen

4. Funktion
Das Gerät dient als Hilfe zum
Pipettieren von Flüssigkeiten mit
Mess- und Vollpipetten aus Glas und
Kunststoff im Volumenbereich von
0,1 ml bis 100 ml.
Bei richtiger Handhabung kommt
die pipettierte Flüssigkeit nur mit
der Pipette in Kontakt. Das Gerät ist
nicht geeignet für den Gebrauch mit
Pasteurpipetten.
4. Application
The instrument is designed to assist
the filling and dispensing of gradu-
ated and volumetric pipettes of
glass or plastic in the volume range
of 0.1 ml to 100 ml for measuring
liquids.
If the instrument is used correctly,
the pipetted liquid will only contact
the pipette. The instrument is not
designed for Pasteur pipettes.
5. Einsatzausschlüsse
Das Gerät darf nicht für Flüssigkeiten
eingesetzt werden, deren Dämpfe
die Materialien Silikon oder EPDM
angreifen.

7. Pipetting settings
Pipettiergeschwindigkeit verändern
Die Pipettiergeschwin-
digkeit steigt kontinuier-
lich bis zur eingestellten
maximalen Motordreh-
zahl an, je weiter die
Pipettierknöpfe einge-
drückt werden. Zum Fül-
len den oberen und zum
Abgeben den unteren
Pipettierknopf drücken.
Pipetting speed control
The amount of pressure
on the pipetting buttons
provides continuously
variable speeds up to
the rate set by the speed
controller. Press upper
pipetting button for
filling and lower button
for dispensing.

8. Pipettieren
Pipette aufstecken
Pipette stets möglichst dicht am obe-
ren Ende halten und vorsichtig in den
Adapter einschieben bis sie fest sitzt.

Attach the pipette
Hold the pipette as near to its upper
end as possible, and carefully insert it
into the adapter until it fits tightly.
Achtung!
Darauf achten, dass die Pipette
nicht überfüllt wird.
Attention!
Take care to avoid overfilling of the
pipette.

Entleeren
Unteren Pipettierknopf langsam
eindrücken. Je weiter der
Pipettierknopf eingedrückt wird, desto
schneller wird die Pipette entleert.
Dispensing
Slowly press the lower pipetting
button. The dispensing speed is
dependent on the amount of pressure
on the pipetting button.
Volumen einstellen
Pipettenspitze mit geeignetem
flusenfreien Tuch abwischen. Unteren
Pipettierknopf langsam eindrücken
und Flüssigkeit ablassen, bis der
Meniskus genau an der gewünschten
Marke eingestellt ist.
Adjust the volume
Use suitable lint-free tissue to wipe
the pipette tip. Slowly press the lower
button and dispense liquid until the
meniscus is adjusted exactly to the
desired volume.

9. Recharging the battery9. Akku laden
Warnung!
Nur Original-Netzteil des Her-
stellers verwenden! Der Gebrauch
eines anderen Netzteils kann das
Gerät sowie den Akku schädi-
gen. Die Spannungsangabe
auf dem Netzteil muss mit der
Netzspannung übereinstimmen. Die
Netzspannung darf maximal ± 10
% von der Angabe auf dem Netzteil
abweichen. Unbedingt prüfen!
Warning!
Use original manufacturer's AC
adapter only! Using a different
AC adapter can damage both the
instrument and the charger, and
will void the warranty. Confirm the
voltage of the AC adapter matches
the voltage of your electrical outlet.
The power supplied to the AC
adapter should differ by no more
than ± 10 %.
Der eingebaute Nickel-Metallhydrid-
Akku gewährleistet im vollgeladenen
Zustand eine Betriebsdauer von ca. 8
Stunden. Blinkende LED zeigt an, dass
der Akku nachgeladen werden muss.
One full charge of the nickel-metal
hydride battery allows 8 hours of
non-stop pipetting. A flashing LED
indicates the need for recharging.

Recharging procedure
1. Temperature range
for recharging:
+ 10 °C to + 35 °C
(+ 50 °F to + 95°F)
2. When the AC
adapter is initially
connected, the LED
on the instrument
lights continuously.
3. After 4 hours of
charging, the AC
adapter switches
to a pulsed, long-
term charging mode
(indicated by the LED
flashing every 15
seconds).

Hinweis:

ist es am besten, den Akku erst
dann nachzuladen, wenn dies
durch langsames bzw. schnelles
Blinken der LED angezeigt wird.
- Das Gerät ist auch während des
Nachladens betriebsbereit.
- Sollte die LED-Anzeige während
des Ladens nicht aufleuchten,
siehe Kapitel 'Störung-was tun?'
(➢Seite 21).
Note:
- The charging system is designed
to prevent the battery from
overcharging and minimizes the
lazy-battery-effect. To maintain
maximum battery capacity, it is
best to charge the battery only
when the slowly-flashing or
quickly-flashing LED indicates
charging is needed.
- The instrument can be used
during recharging.
- If the LED does not light up
during charging see chapter
'Troubleshooting' (➢page 21).

10. Replacing the battery10. Akku austauschen
Warning!
Only use original manufacturer's
accessories (page 24). The
battery must not be replaced
by non-rechargeable or
rechargeable batteries of other
manufacturers.
Use of the wrong batteries or
improper use of the instrument
(e.g., short-circuit, mechanical
damage, overheating, etc.) may
cause the batteries to explode.
Warnung!
Nur Original-Zubehör verwenden
(Seite 24). Akkublock nicht gegen
nicht-wiederaufladbare Batterien
oder aufladbare Akkus anderer
Hersteller austauschen.
Der Gebrauch falscher Akkus oder
unsachgemäße Behandlung des
Gerätes (Kurzschluss, mechan.
Zerstörung, Übershitzung, etc.)
kann in Extremfällen zur Explosion
des Akkus führen.
- Zum Öffnen des Akkufachs auf die
Pfeilmarkierung, Position ❚➀, drücken
und gleichzeitig den Deckel nach
hinten schieben.
- To open the battery compartment
press at the embossed arrow,
position ➀, and simultaneously
slide cover back.

- Akku entfernen.
- Akkustecker an den Kabeln fassen
und behutsam aus der Buchse ziehen.
- Stecker des neuen Akkus am Kabel
fassen, entsprechend ausrichten und
fest in die Buchse einstecken, bis er
hörbar einrastet.
- neuen Akku einlegen und Akkufach
schließen.
- Remove the battery.
- Grip battery plug by the wire and
pull it gently out of the socket.
- Grip the plug of the new battery
by the wire and push it firmly into
the socket until you can hear it is
snapping in.
- Insert new battery and close battery
compartment.

11. Akkuentsorgung
Das nebenstehende Symbol
bedeutet, dass Batterien/
Akkus und elektronische
Geräte am Ende ihrer
Lebensdauer vom Hausmüll
(unsortierter Siedlungsabfall)
getrennt entsorgt werden müssen.
- Elektronische Geräte müssen
gemäß der Richtlinie 2002/96/
EG des europäischen Parlaments
und des Rates vom 27. Januar
2003 über Elektro- und
Elektronik-Altgeräte fachgerecht
entsprechend den nationalen
Entsorgungsvorschriften entsorgt
werden.
- Batterien und Akkus enthalten
Stoffe, die sich schädlich auf
die Umwelt und die menschliche
Gesundheit auswirken können. Sie
müssen daher gemäß der Richtlinie
2006/66/EG des europäischen
Parlaments und des Rates vom 06.
September 2006 über Batterien
und Akkumulatoren fachgerecht
entsprechend den nationalen
Entsorgungsvorschriften entsorgt
werden. Nur vollständig entladene
Batterien und Akkus entsorgen.

11. Battery Disposal
The adjoining symbol means
that storage batteries and
electronic devices must be
disposed of separately from
household trash (mixed
municipal waste) at the end of their
service life.
- According to the Directive
2002/96/EC of the European
Parliament and of the Council on
Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE) of 27 January
2003, electronic equipment
requires disposal according to
the relevant national disposal
regulations.
- Batteries contain substances
that can have harmful effects
on the environment and human
health. Therefore according to
the Directive 2006/66/EC of
the European Parliament and the
Council on Waste Batteries of 6
September 2006 batteries require
disposal according to the relevant
national disposal regulations.
Dispose of batteries only when
completely discharged.

12. Cleaning
Occasionally wipe the housing with
a damp cloth.When properly used,
the instrument is maintenance-free.

4. Remove the adapter from
the adapter support by
pushing it upwards. Do not
remove check valve from
the adapter.

and allow to dry

14. Autoclaving
1. The entire pipette adapter
incl. membrane filter is
autoclavable at 121 °C
(250 °F), 2 bar absolute
(30 psi) with a holding
time of at least 15 minutes
according to DIN EN 285.

Hinweis:
Nicht jeder Membranfilter ist geeig-
net! Nur Original-Zubehör verwen-
den. Serienmäßig ist das Gerät mit
0,2 µm Membranfilter (roter Farb-
code) ausgestattet. Der Membran-
filter ist bis zu fünfmal bei 121 ºC
autoklavierbar. Die Wirksamkeit des
Autoklavierens ist vom
Anwender jeweils selbst zu prüfen.
Mit 0,2 µm Membranfilter (für Zell-
kultur) können Volumentoleranzen
der Klasse B erzielt werden. Zur Ein-
haltung der Volumentoleranzen der
Klasse A sind 3 µm Membranfilter
erforderlich. Diese haben aufgrund
der größeren Porenweite einen
geringeren Einfluss auf die freie Ab-
laufzeit der Pipetten. (Ersatzteile S. 24).
Note:
Not every membrane filter is suit-
able. Only use genuine manufac-
turer’s recommended accessories.
Each instrument will be supplied
with a 0.2 µm membrane filter
(red color code). The membrane
filter is autoclavable up to 5 times
at 121 ºC (250 °F). It is the user's
responsibility to ensure effective
autoclaving. The filter with
0.2 µm pore size (for cell culture)
is sufficient to meet class B
tolerances. For class A accuracy,
