Installaon and Inial Startup
NOTE: Before installaon, please inspect the unit. Be sure that nothing inside the package is damaged.
Placement & Storage Condions
Install the UPS in a protected area that is free of excessive dust and has adequate air ow. Please place the UPS
away from other units at least 20 cm to avoid interference. Do NOT operate the UPS where the temperature and
humidity is outside the specic limits. (Please check the specs for the limitaons).
Connect to Ulity and Charging
Plug in the AC input cord to the wall outlet. For the best results, suggest to charge the baery at least 6 hours
before inial use. The unit charges its baery while connecng to the ulity.

6 Hours
Connect the Loads
Plug in the loads to output receptacles on the rear panel of the UPS. Simply turn on the power switch of UPS
unit, then devices connected to the UPS will be protected by UPS unit.
Connect Modem/Phone/Network for Surge Protecon
Connect a single modem/phone line into surge-protected “IN” outlet on the back panel of the UPS unit. Connect
from “OUT” outlet to the computer with another phone line cable.
Connect Communicaon Cable
To allow for unaended UPS shutdown/start-up and status monitoring, connect the communicaon cable one
end to the USB/RS-232 port and the other to the communicaon port of your PC. With the monitoring soware
installed, you can schedule UPS shutdown/start-up and monitor UPS status through PC.
Turn On/O the Unit
Turn on the UPS unit by pressing the power switch. Turn o the UPS unit by pressing again the power switch.
Important Safety Warning (SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS)
Please comply with all warnings and operang instrucons in this manual strictly. Save this manual properly
and read carefully the following instrucons before installing the unit. Do not operate this unit before reading
through all safety informaon and operang instrucons carefully.
CAUTION! Please transport the UPS only in the original package to protect against shock and impact.
CAUTION! To prevent the risk of re or electric shock, install in a temperature and humidity controlled indoor
area free of conducve contaminants. (See the specicaons for the acceptable temperature and humidity
range.)
CAUTION! To reduce the risk of overheang the UPS, do not cover the UPS’ cooling vents and avoid exposing the
unit to direct sunlight or installing the unit near heat eming appliances such as space heaters or furnaces.
CAUTION! Do not aach non-computer-related items, such as medical equipment, life-support equipment, mi-
crowave ovens, or vacuum cleaners to UPS.
CAUTION! Do not plug the UPS input into its own output.
CAUTION! Condensaon may occur if the UPS system is moved directly from cold to warm environment. The UPS
must be absolutely dry before being installed.

CAUTION! Place cables in such a way that no one can step on or trip over them.
CAUTION! The mains socket outlet that supplies the UPS shall be installed near the UPS and shall be easily acces-
sible. The UPS power cord must be connected to an earthed mains socket outlet for safety reasons.
CAUTION! Do not allow liquids or any foreign object to enter the UPS. Do not place beverages or any other
liquid-containing vessels on or near the unit.
CAUTION! In the event of an emergency, press the OFF buon and disconnect the power cord from the
AC power supply to properly disable the UPS.
CAUTION! Do not aach a power strip or surge suppressor to the UPS.
CAUTION! If the UPS is with metal chassis, for safety purpose, grounding is a must during UPS installaon in
order to reduce leakage current below 3.5mA.
Aenon: hazardous through electric shock. Also with disconnecon of this unit from the mains, hazardous volt-
age sll may be accessible through supply from baery. The baery supply should be therefore disconnected in
the plus and minus pole at the quick connectors of the baery when maintenance or service work inside the UPS
is necessary.
CAUTION! Servicing of baeries should be performed or supervised by personnel knowledgeable of baeries
and the required precauons. Keep unauthorized personnel away from baeries. CAUTION! When replacing the
baeries, use the same number and type of baeries.
CAUTION! Avoid touching eyes while working near baeries.
CAUTION! Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case baery acid contacts skin, clothing, or eyes.
CAUTION! Do not disassemble the unit before contact with the qualied service center when service or repair is
required.
CAUTION! To reduce risk of injury, only use qualied baeries from qualied distributors or manufacturers. Any
unqualied baeries may cause damage and injury. Do NOT use old or overdue baeries. Please check the bat-
tery type and date code before installaon to avoid damage and injury.
CAUTION! Internal baery voltage is 12VDC. Sealed, lead-acid, 6-cell baery.
CAUTION! Do not dispose of baeries in a re. The baery may explode. Do not open or mulate the baery or
baeries. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin and eyes.
CAUTION! Unplug the UPS prior to cleaning and do not use liquid or spray detergent.
CAUTION! A baery can present a risk of electric shock and high short circuit current. The following precauon
should be observed before replacing baeries:
1. Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
2. Use tools with insulated handles.
3. Wear rubber gloves and boots.
4. Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of baeries.
5. Disconnect charging source prior to connecng or disconnecng baeries terminal.

Use the table below to solve minor problems.

Obtaining Service
If the UPS requires Service:
1. Use the TROUBLESHOOTING secon in this manual to eliminate obvious causes.
2. Verify there are no circuit breakers tripped.
3. Call your dealer for assistance. If you cannot reach your dealer, or if they cannot resolve the problem, call Xtreme
Power Conversion Corp Technical Support at 800.582.4524. Technical support inquiries can also be made at
[email protected]. Please have the following informaon available BEFORE calling the Technical Support
Department:
• Your name and address.
• The serial number of the unit.
• Where and when the unit was purchased.
• All of the model informaon about your UPS.
• Any informaon on the failure, including LED’s that may or may not be illuminated.
• A descripon of the protected equipment, including model numbers if possible.
• A technician will ask you for the above informaon and, if possible, help solve your problem over
the phone. In the event that the unit requires factory service, the technician will issue you a Return
Material Authorizaon number (RMA).
If you are returning the UPS to Xtreme Power for service, please follow these procedures:
1. Pack the UPS in its original packaging. If the original packaging is no longer available, ask the Technical
Support Technician about obtaining a replacement set of packaging material. It is important to pack the
UPS properly in order to avoid damage in transit. Never use Styrofoam beads for a packing material.
2. Include a leer with your name, address, dayme phone number, RMA number, a copy of your original
sales receipt, and a brief descripon of the problem.
3. Mark the RMA number on the outside of all packages. Xtreme Power cannot accept any package without
the RMA number marked on the outside of the boxes.
4. Return the UPS by insured, prepaid carrier to the address provided by the Technician.
5. Refer to the Warranty statements in this manual for addional details on what is covered.
