Preface
Dear Customer,
You have chosen a high-quality machine from the extensive product line offered by Bernhard van Leng-
erich Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG. Thank you for your confidence in us.
To prevent damage to the machine, the machine must be cleaned regularly. These cleaning instructions
are intended to help you with this task.
These cleaning instructions refer to the following areas: engine compartment inside and outside, air filter,
radiator unit, oil cooler, elevator belt and cab air filter.
All locations in these cleaning instructions are in relation to the direction of travel.
Illustrations and photos can show optional equipment.
DANGER
After each time the machine is used, check whether cleaning is neces-
sary. Make sure that there is no remaining feed, straw, dust, flammable
materials or foreign objects in the engine compartment, on the engine
compartment cover and the engine cover.
The engine reaches temperatures of 500 –600°C during normal opera-
tion and regeneration, so that dirt in the engine compartment, on the
engine compartment cover and engine cover can cause a fire hazard.

1 Safety information
Observe all safety information in the operating manual!
Most accidents are caused by failure to comply with the most elementary safety rules.
Compliance with all safety information in the operating manual helps to prevent accidents
from happening.
During all cleaning tasks, observe the information in the operating manual for the machine, especially the
safety information for the individual areas. These cleaning instructions do not replace the operating manu-
al, but are intended only to help you with the task of cleaning.
2 Cleaning tasks
After each use of the machine, check the engine compartment inside and outside, to determine whether
cleaning is necessary. Observe the following points.
DANGER
Scalds or burns due to hot coolant!
Never open the engine compartment cover if steam or coolant is emerging. Danger of scald-
ing!
Wait until steam or coolant no longer emerges and allow the diesel engine to cool before
opening the engine compartment cover.
DANGER
Hazards due to moving or hot engine parts in the engine compartment!
All work on the diesel engine or in the engine compartment, such as checking and top-
ping off fluids, involves the risk of injuries such as burns or scalds, as well as acci-
dents and fire hazards!
Never open the engine compartment cover if steam or coolant is emerging. Danger of
scalding!
Wait until steam or coolant no longer emerges and allow the diesel engine to cool before
opening the engine compartment cover.
Perform work in the engine compartment only if you are familiar with the tasks and safety
precautions, and suitable tools are available. Danger of injury and accident!
Before opening the engine compartment cover: Shut off the diesel engine, set the parking
brake and remove the ignition key.
Keep children away from the machine.
Do not touch hot motor components. Danger of burns!
Never pour operating fluids over the hot diesel engine or exhaust system. Danger of fire!
Never open the filler cap of the coolant tank while the diesel engine is still warm. The cool-
ing system is under pressure due to the hot coolant!

WARNING
Hazards to personnel due to pinching, shearing, cutting, severing, grasping, winding,
pulling, catching and impact can occur in the following cases:
If raised parts of the machine that are not secured unintentionally are lowered unintention-
ally, such a raised removal arm.
oBefore working in the area of raised machine components, always secure such
components against unintentional lowering. Observe the operating manual!
If the machine is accidentally started or rolls away.
oBefore removing clogged material, secure the machine against accidental startup
and rolling.
oWait until the machine has stopped before entering the danger zone.
oRemove the ignition key.
WARNING
Hazards to personnel due to pinching, shearing, cutting, severing, grasping, winding,
pulling and catching can occur if danger spots are not protected!
Mount safety guards that were removed for cleaning, maintenance and repair of the ma-
chine.
Replace defective safety guards with new safety guards.
WARNING
Danger of injury if an improperly closed engine compartment cover opens while driv-
ing!
After closing the engine compartment cover, always check to make sure it is properly
seated and closed.
If it becomes apparent while driving that the engine compartment cover is not properly
closed, stop immediately and close the engine compartment cover.
DANGER
Danger of pinching when closing the engine compartment cover!
When closing the engine compartment cover, make sure that no one is within the swivel range
of the cover.
CAUTION
Environmental damage due to leaking fluids!
Check the ground under the machine regularly. If spots from oil or other fluids are visible, take
the machine to a repair shop for inspection.

Check the machine daily to ensure that the radiator, engine and engine compartment cov-
er are clean.
Remove any feed and dust accumulations from the radiator, engine and engine compart-
ment cover as necessary (fire hazard).
Clean the machine thoroughly if dirty. Dirt attracts moisture and causes rust.
After cleaning, lubricate the machine, especially after using a pressure washer/steam
cleaner or degreasing agents.
Observe statutory regulations for the handling and disposal of cleaning agents.
Repair any paint damage.
Watch out for brake, air and hydraulic hoses.
Never treat brake, air and hydraulic hoses with gasoline, benzene, petroleum or mineral
oils.
Never work under the removal arm unless the support is inserted.
Before working on the diesel engine or in the engine compartment:
1. Park the machine and secure it to prevent unintentional startup and rolling.
2. Allow the machine to cool before working on components in the engine compartment.
2.1 Cleaning the exterior engine compartment cover and engine cover
Park the machine and secure it to prevent unintentional startup and rolling.
Remove any feed residue,straw, dust accumulations, etc. from the engine cover and engine compartment cov-
er.

2.2 Cleaning the inside of the engine compartment
1. Park the machine and secure it to prevent
unintentional startup and rolling.
2. Allow the machine to cool before working on
components in the engine compartment.
3. Open the engine compartment and mounting
covers. Refer to the operating manual for
opening the engine cover and the mounting
covers. To open the turbocharger cover, the
removal arm must be raised and the cylinder
safety support inserted; see ch. 9.5 of the
operating manual.
4. The entire engine compartment must be
cleaned to remove any feed residue, straw,
dust, etc. This applies especially to the areas
around the emissions aftertreatment system
(1) and the turbocharger (2), as well as the
manifold (3) under the turbocharger, due to
the extremely high temperatures in these ar-
eas.
The area around the turbocharger and
the manifold can be accessed from the
middle of the vehicle. The cover plate (A)
must be removed.
5. Clean the entire engine compartment with
compressed air.
6. After completion of cleaning, close the en-
gine compartment and mounting covers in
accordance with the operating manual and
mount the cover plate to the middle of the
vehicle.

2.3 Cleaning the air filter
Important
The use of compressed air or water can damage the air filter insert!
Remove the air filter insert only in a dust-free environment.
Never use compressed air or water to clean the insert.
The air filter is at the right front of the engine compart-
ment.
Cleaning the air filter insert
1. Secure the machine to prevent unintentional startup
and rolling.
2. Open the six clasps (2).
3. Remove the housing cover (1).
4. Carefully pull the air filter insert (3) out of the hous-
ing.
The safety filter (4) may be removed only for re-
placement in accordance with the interval in the
maintenance schedule.
5. Clean the air filter insert (3).
Clean the insert only by tapping it lightly. When doing
so, make sure not to damage the paper filter.
6. Use a cloth to clean the air filter housing, removing
all dust.
7. Re-insert the air filter insert (3) in the housing.
8. Re-mount the housing cover (1).
9. Close clasps (2).

2.4 Cleaning the combination cooler
1. The combination cooler must be inspected
and cleaned regularly.
2. Park the machine and secure it to prevent
unintentional startup and rolling.
3. Allow the machine to cool before working on
components in the engine compartment.
4. Open the assembly door in accordance with
the operating manual.
5. If only slightly dirty, blow off the radiator (1)
with compressed air.
6. If the radiator is obviously very dirty (Figure
2), clean it with water and detergent as fol-
lows:
a) Use water or a pressure washer without a
rotary nozzle to carefully clean the radia-
tor (Figure 3).
b) Then apply an alkaline cleaner with a
foam gun or spray gun (Figure 4).
c) Afterwards, allow the engine to run at in-
creased speed for several minutes, so
that the fan draws the cleaner into the ra-
diator.
d) Shut off the engine and secure it to pre-
vent unintentional startup and rolling.
e) Rinse the radiator with clear water.
7. Close the assembly door in accordance with
the operating manual.
When using a pressure washer, make
sure that the spray lance is held
straight in front of the radiator, to pre-
vent damage to the radiator (Figure
3).

Always observe the following when using a pressure washer or steam cleaner:
Do not clean any electrical components, such as weighing computer, distributor
box, load cells, control panel, camera system or chrome-plated parts.
Never aim the spray jet from the pressure washer/steam cleaner directly at lubri-
cation and bearing points, sensors or electrical components.
Always maintain a distance of at least 300 mm between the pressure washer or
steam cleaner nozzle and the machine.
Comply with safety regulations when using a pressure washer.

2.5 Cleaning the removal arm
DANGER
Danger of crushing for the entire body, due to the necessity of entering the area under
raised components of the machine that are not secured!
This danger can cause extremely serious injuries, possibly resulting in death.
Secure raised components of the machine against unintentional lowering before you
enter the danger area under raised components of the machine.
Use the mechanical support system provided.
Do not enter or pass through the area under the raised removal arm if it is not se-
cured!
1. Inspect and clean the removal arm and eleva-
tor belt regularly.
2. Position the removal arm so that you can
reach the cleaning openings (1) on the side.

3. Secure the removal arm against lowering with
a support or jack stand. Do not enter or pass
through the area under the removal arm if it is
not secured.
4. Raise the safety hood (2) of the profiled roller
and the wind guard (3). Figure 2
5. Park the machine and secure it to prevent
unintentional startup and rolling.
6. Remove the yellow caps from the cleaning
openings on both sides of the removal arm
(1).
7. If only slightly dirty, clean the removal arm
with compressed air.
8. If very dirty, rinse out the removal arm with
plenty of water. Pour the water from above
and through the side openings into the re-
moval arm and allow it to run out at the bot-
tom. Do not use a pressure washer.
9. After cleaning, re-mount the yellow caps on
the removal arm.

2.6 Clean fresh air filter
The filter element of the fresh air filter is located behind
the cover (1) behind the cab door.
Clean fresh air filter
1. Unscrew the six screws (2).
2. Remove the cover (1).
3. Remove the filter element (3) and clean with com-
pressed air.
4. Insert the cleaned filter element (3).
5. Mount the cover (1) using the screws (2).

2.7 General cleaning
Always observe the following when using a pressure washer or steam cleaner:
Do not clean any electrical components, such as weighing computer, distributor box, load
cells, control panel, camera system.
Do not clean chrome-plated parts.
Never aim the spray jet from the pressure washer/steam cleaner directly at lubrication and
bearing points, sensors or electrical components.
Always maintain a distance of at least 300 mm between the pressure washer or steam
cleaner nozzle and the machine.
Comply with safety regulations when using a pressure washer.
The entire machine should be cleaned regularly to remove dirt, dust, feed residue, etc. in order to ensure
that the machine remains in good working condition. Dirt attracts moisture and causes rust.
When cleaning, special attention should be given to the areas around the mineral feed hopper and the
fuel tank, as well as the wheel wells, cable ducts and the frame.
The inside and outside of the cabs should be cleaned regularly. Coarse dirt in the area of the gas pedal
can result in malfunctions.
Repair any paint damage.
Watch out for brake, air and hydraulic hoses. Never treat brake, air and hydraulic hoses with gasoline,
benzene, petroleum or mineral oils.
After cleaning, lubricate the machine, especially after using a pressure washer/steam cleaner or de-
greasing agents.
Observe statutory regulations for the handling and disposal of cleaning agents.
