manufactured by the company Bernard van Lengerich
Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG. We thank you for the confidence
you have shown in us.
Please check the machine on receipt for transport damage or missing
parts! Check the machine delivered including any optional equipment
ordered against the delivery note. Compensation for damages can
only be considered where loss or damage is notified immediately!
Before starting up the machine, read and observe the operating
manual, in particular the safety instructions. Studying the operating
manual carefully will enable your to make full use of the advantages
of your newly acquired machine.
Make sure that every person operating the machine has read the
operating manual before they start to operate it.
The machines are supplied with optional equipment. Due to the
customised equipment of your machine some of the descriptions
contained in this operating manual may not be applicable for your
machine. Optional equipment is specially indicated in this operating
manual.
Should any questions arise regarding handling of the machine or the
contents of the operating manual, please get in touch with us.
Regular maintenance and timely replacement of worn or damaged

1 Information for the user
The chapter on information for the user provides you with information
on using the operating manual.
1.1 Purpose of the operating manual
This operating manual:
describes the operation, cleaning, maintenance and care of the
machine,
gives important information for the safe and efficient handling of
the machine.
Should you never-the-less have any questions, please get in touch
with us.
1.2 Storage of operating manual
The operating manual is an integral part of the machine. Please
therefore keep the operating manual:
always on the machine or in the traction vehicle,
for future use.
Pass on the operating manual to the buyer when the machine is sold.
1.3 Position directions in the operating manual
All position directions in the operating manual are always as seen in
the direction of travel.

The order must be strictly adhered to. In some cases the reaction of

2 Safety instructions
This chapter contains important information for carrier and operator
on the safe and trouble-free operation of the machine.
Observe and comply with the safety instructions in this
operating manual!
Most accidents are caused by failure to comply with simple
regulations.
You can make a contribution to the prevention of accidents by
observing all the safety instructions in this manual
2.1 Safety awareness at work
The machine has been constructed to the latest technological
standards and recognised safety regulations. Nevertheless, during
operation of the machine, risk of danger and impairment can occur:
to life and limb of the operator or third party,
to the machine itself,
to other valuable equipment.
For safe operation of the machine please observe:
this operating manual, in particular:
the basic safety instructions, the safety instructions relating
to handling and the handling instructions,
the information on correct use of the machine.
the warning signs on the machine,
the national, general valid regulations on safety-at-work,
accident prevention and environmental protection,
The national, road safety regulations for transport drives.
Only operate the machine in a perfectly safe condition.
WARNING
Hazardous situations can arise where exposed persons can be
crushed, cut, caught-up, entangled or struck, when tractor and
machine are not equipped for road traffic and operating safety!
Check tractor and machine before every start-up for road traffic and
operating safety.

2.2 Organisational measures
Operating Instructions:
must always be kept at the machine location,
must be easily accessible to the operating and maintenance
personnel at all times.
2.2.1 Carrier’s obligations
The carrier is obliged:
to comply with the national, general regulations for safety-at-
work, accident prevention and environmental protection,
to only allow persons to work with/on the machine, who:
are familiar with the basic regulations concerning safety-at-
work and accident prevention,
who have received instruction in working with/on the
machine,
and have read and understood this operating manual.
to keep all warning signs in good legible condition,
to replace damaged warning signs,
to provide the required personal protection equipment, such as
e.g.:
eye protection,
work gloves to DIN EN 388,
protective shoes,
protective clothing,
skin protection, etc.

2.2.2 Obligations of the operator
All personnel instructed to carry our work with/on the machine, have
the obligation before beginning the work:
to comply with the national, general regulations for safety-at-
work, accident prevention and environmental protection,
to read and observe the chapter "Basic Safety Instructions", in
the operating manual from page 13 onwards,
to read the chapter "Warnings and Instructions", in the operating
manual from page 31 onwards and to adhere to the warnings
when operating the machine,
to familiarise themselves with the machine,
to read the chapters in the operating manual that are important
for the execution of the tasks entrusted to them.
Should the operator establish that a device is not safe, he/she must
eliminate the defect immediately. If this task does not belong to
operator’s scope of work or the operator is not in possession of the
appropriate specialist knowledge, the operator must report the defect
to his superior or the carrier.

2.2.3 Qualification of personnel
Only trained instructed persons may work with/on the machine. The
carrier must define the areas of responsibility of personnel distinctly
regarding operation, maintenance and care.
A trainee operator may only work with/on the machine when under
the close supervision of an experienced operator.
The operator may only execute the tasks described in this operating
manual.
Only specialist workshops may carry out work requiring special
expertise on the machine. Specialist workshops have qualified
personnel and the appropriate equipment (tools, hoisting and
supporting equipment) for the correct and safe execution of these
tasks.
This applies to all tasks:
which are not referred to in the operating manual,
which are marked in this operating manual with the supplement
"workshop job".

1) A person who can take on a special task and execute it for a
suitably qualified company.
2) An instructed person is someone who has received instruction in
the tasks entrusted to him/her and in the possible dangers
resulting from improper action and trained as required and
informed of the necessary protective devices and safety
procedures.
3) Experts are persons with specialist training. On the strength of
their specialist training and knowledge of the relevant
regulations they are in a position to assess the work tasks
entrusted to them and recognise any possible sources of
danger.
Note: A qualification of the same standard as that of a specialist
training can be acquired through an occupation in the relevant

2.3 Product Safety
2.3.1 Safe operation of the machine
Only one person alone is permitted to operate the machine from the
driver’s cab on the tractor and only when there is no-one in the
danger area of the machine. For further details refer to the chapter
"Hazard Zone and Danger Points", page 48.
2.3.2 Safety and guard devices
Only operate the machine when all safety and guard devices are
properly mounted and fully functional.
Faulty or detached safety and guard devices can cause
dangerous situations to arise.
Examine the safety and guard devices for externally
recognisable damage and operational capability before starting
up the machine.
2.3.3 Structural Modifications
Vehicles with an official operating permit or devices and
equipment linked with a vehicle with a valid operating permit or
licence for participation in road traffic according to road traffic
regulations must be found to be in the appropriate condition as
defined in the permit or licence.
Structural modifications, attachments or conversions to the
machine are only permitted if you are in possession of the
manufacturer’s written authorisation for these.
Unauthorised structural modifications, attachments or
conversions:
will result in a loss in validity for the machine conformity
declaration and the CE-mark,
loss in validity for the operating permit according to national
and international regulations.
Only use genuine parts or conversion and accessory parts
released by the manufacturer, so that:
the machine conformity declaration and the CE-mark retain
their validity,
the operating permit to national and international
regulations retains its validity,
the trouble-free functioning of the machine is guaranteed.
The manufacturer will not be held responsible for damage
caused by:
arbitrary modification of the machine,
unauthorised conversion and accessory parts,
welding and drilling work on load-bearing parts of the
machine.

2.3.4 Replacement and wearing parts as well as auxiliary materials
Replace machine parts which are not free from defects immediately.
Always replace with genuine parts or parts authorised by the
manufacturer so that the operating permit according to national and
international regulations remains valid. If replacement and wearing
parts from third-party manufacturers are used there is no guarantee
that they have been designed and manufactured according to load
and safety requirements.
The manufacturer is relieved of any liability for damage caused by the
use of unauthorised replacement and wearing parts.
Wear parts are not covered by warranty!
Parts considered wear parts include:
Knives including their holders and fasteners
Mixing augers, both entire units and parts thereof
Shear bolts
Wear parts must be subjected to regular measurements / visual
inspections at 4-week intervals.
If experiencing extensive wear, you can interchange the mixing
augers fitted on a multi-spindle machine. This ensures uniform wear,
extending the overall service life of the mixing augers.
2.3.5 Warranty and liability
Our "General Terms of Sales and Supply" are basically valid. These
must be presented to the carrier at the latest at the time of contract
signing.
Warranty and liability claims in respect of personal and material
damage are excluded, if they have been caused by one or more of
the following:
improper use of the machine,
improper mounting, start-up, operation and maintenance of the
machine,
running the machine with defective safety equipment or
incorrectly mounted or non-functioning safety and guard devices,
non-observance of instructions in the operating manual
concerning start-up, employment and maintenance,
arbitrary structural machine modifications,
poor supervision of machine parts which are subject to wear,
improper execution of repairs,
disasters due to extraneous causes and force majeure.

2.4 General Safety Information
General Safety Information
applies in general for machine operation according to safety
requirements,
is summarised in the subdivisions described below.
2.4.1 General Safety and Accident Prevention Information
In addition to the safety instructions given in this chapter, the
general national safety and accident prevention regulations must
be complied with!
Always wear your personal protection equipment when working
on the machine!
Observe with the warnings and instructions mounted on the
machine. These provide you with important information for safe,
trouble-free operation of the machine!
Observe both the basic safety information in this chapter and the
safety information in the other chapters in respect of handling!
Dismiss all persons from the vicinity of the machine before
running up the machine or starting operation! Pay special
attention to children!
Do not carry any person or object on the machine! Carrying
persons or objects on the machine is strictly prohibited!
Adjust your driving behaviour in such a waythat you havefull
control over the tractor with mounted / hitched machine at all times!
Take into consideration your personal capabilities, the road
surface, traffic, visibility and weather conditions, the handling of
the tractor and the effect of the mounted / hitched machine.
Hitching and Unhitching the Machine
Only hitch and transport the machine with the appropriate
tractors!
Hitch up the machine properly to the specified fixtures!
Make sure that you do not exceed the following values when the
machine is mounted to front and/or rear hitch of the tractor:
the admissible gross weight of the tractor,
the admissible axle loads of the tractor,
the admissible tongue load at the coupling point of the
tractor,
the admissible hitch load of the towing attachment,
the admissible tyre load capacity of the tractor tyres!
Secure tractor and machine against rolling before hitching or
unhitching the machine!
No person is permitted to remain between tractor and machine
while the tractor approaches the machine!
Any helpers present may only direct the vehicles into position
from the side and only go between the vehicles when they have
stopped moving.

Move the support devices required when hitching and unhitching
the machine to the appropriate support position (static stability)!
When using support devices be aware of the risk of injury from
crushing and shearing!
Be particularly careful when hitching up and unhitching machines
to or from the tractor! There are crushing/shearing points in the
vicinity of the hitching points between tractor and machine!
It is forbidden to go between tractor and machine once the three
point linkage is actuated!
Check the coupled supply lines. Coupled supply lines:
must easily follow every movement when cornering, without
tension, bending or friction,
must not chafe against other parts!
Always park unhitched machines on stable ground!
Using the Machine
Before starting work familiarise yourself with all the fittings and
operating elements on the machine as well as their functions!
During operation is too late.
Wear tight-fitting clothes! Loose-fitting clothes increase the risk
of getting caught and entangled in drive shafts!
Only start up the machine when all the guards have been fitted
and set in their protective position!
Observe the regulations on maximum payload for the attached /
hitched machine and the admissible axle and tongue loads of the
tractor! If necessary, drive with the loading area only half-full.
It is prohibited for persons to be:
within the work / danger area of the machine,
within the ejection range of the machine,
within the rotating and swivelling range of moving machine
parts,
under raised unsecured moving machine parts!
There are crushing and shearing points on externally powered
(e.g. hydraulic) moving machine parts!
Before actuating externally-powered machine parts, ensure that
all persons have left the danger area of the machine!
Before leaving the tractor, safeguard it against accidental
starting and rolling!
Prop up the tipped-up covers securely before you go under
them!
Transporting the machine
Observe the relevant national road traffic regulations when using
public roads!
Before transport drives, check:
the proper connection of the supply lines,
the lighting system for damage, functions and cleanliness,
