2 Safety instructions
This chapter contains important information for the owner and the
operator on how to operate the machine in a safe and trouble-free
manner.
Observe all safety instructions provided in this operating
manual!
Most accidents are caused due to a failure to observe the simplest of
safety rules.
You help prevent accidents by observing all safety instructions
provided in this operating manual.
2.1 Working in a safety-conscious manner
This machine has been constructed according to the latest
technological standards and the recognized safety and accident
prevention regulations. Regardless, using the machine carries certain
risks and may impair:
the life and limb of the operator or third parties,
for the machine itself,
other material assets.
The following must be observed to ensure the safe operation of the
machine:
this operating manual, in particular:
the general safety instructions, the action-related safety
instructions, and the instructions for actions,
the information on proper use.
the warnings attached to the machine,
all national, generally applicable regulations regarding safety and
accident prevention as well as environmental protection,
the national road traffic regulations during transport trips.
Do not operate the machine unless all of its safety features are in
proper working order.
WARNING
Risks of personal injury from crushing, cutting, entrapment,
entanglement or impact if tractor and machine are not
sufficiently roadworthy and safe to operate!
Check if tractor and machine are roadworthy and safe to operate
every time before putting them into operation.

2.2 Organizational measures
The operating manual:
must always be stored at the location of the machine,
must be freely accessible to operator and maintenance
personnel at all times.
2.2.1 Responsibilities of the owner
The owner is required to:
observe all national, generally applicable regulations regarding
safety and accident prevention as well as environmental
protection,
limit work with/on the machine to personnel who:
are familiar with all general safety and accident-prevention
regulations,
have been instructed in how to work with/on the machine,
have read and understood this operating manual.
keep all warnings attached to the machine legible at all times,
replace damaged warnings,
provide the necessary personnel protective equipment such as:
safety goggles,
work gloves according to DIN EN 388,
safety shoes,
protective suit,
skin protection, etc.
2.2.2 Responsibilities of the operator
Before commencing work, all personnel designated to work with/on
the machine are required to:
observe all national, generally applicable regulations regarding
safety and accident prevention as well as environmental
protection,
read and observe chapter "General safety instructions", starting
on page 15 of this operating manual,
read the chapter "Warnings and instructions", starting on page
32 of this operating manual, and observe the warnings while
operating the machine,
become familiar with the machine,
read the chapters in this operating manual that are essential for
the execution of the work tasks they have been assigned.
If detecting that a fixture is no longer fully compliant with the safety
regulations, the operator is required to remedy this defect
immediately. If the correction of a fault is not part of the operator's
responsibilities or the operator lacks the necessary expertise, the
operator must report the defect to his supervisor or the owner.

2.2.3 Qualification of the personnel
Work with/on the machine is limited to qualified and trained
personnel. The operator must clearly define the responsibilities of the
personnel with regard to operation, maintenance and repairs.
A person in training may only work with/on the machine when
supervised by an experienced member of the personnel.
The operator may only perform the work described in this operating
manual.
Work on the machine that requires professional expertise may only
be performed by specialty workshops. Specialty workshops have the
qualified personnel and suitable means (tools, lifting and supporting
devices) that are necessary to perform the work in a professional and
safe manner.

1) A person capable of assuming a specific task and completing
this task for a company with the appropriate expertise.
2) An instructed person is someone who is familiar with or has
been trained in the tasks assigned to him and the potential
dangers associated with improper conduct and has received
instructions about the necessary safety equipment and safety
measures.
3) Personnel who have undergone professional technical training
are considered experts (specialists). These personnel are
capable of assessing the tasks assigned to them and the
potential dangers involved in their execution on account of their
professional technical training and their familiarity with all
applicable regulations.
Note: A qualification that is equivalent to professional technical
training can be acquired by working in the respective field for
several years.

2.3 Product safety
2.3.1 Safe operation of the machine
The machine may only be operated by a single person from the
driver's seat on the tractor provided there is no one in the danger area
of the machine. Refer to the chapter "Danger area and hazard areas",
starting on page 48.
2.3.2 Safety devices and guards Safety devices and guards
The machine must not be operated unless all safety devices and
guards have been properly fitted and are fully operational.
Faulty or missing safety devices and guards may lead to
dangerous situations.
Check all safety devices and guards for obvious external
damage and proper operation before putting the machine into
operation
2.3.3 Structural modifications
Vehicles with an operating permit issued by an authority or
fixtures and equipment connected to a vehicle for which an
applicable operating permit or an approval for road travel in
accordance with the traffic regulations is available must be in a
condition that complies with the provisions of the corresponding
permit or approval.
Do not subject the machine to any structural modifications nor
any attachments or retrofitting unless you have the written
permission of the manufacturer to do so.
In case of unauthorized structural modifications as well as
unauthorized attachments and retrofitting:
the Declaration of Conformity and the CE mark on the
machine will become void,
the operating permit in accordance with national and
international regulations will become void.
Use only original spare parts or modification or accessory parts
that have been approved by the manufacturer in order to ensure
that:
the Declaration of Conformity and the CE mark on the
machine will remain valid,
the operating permit in accordance with national and
international regulations will remain valid,
the machine remains fully operational.
The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damages
caused by:
unauthorized modifications of the machine,
unapproved modification and accessory parts,
welding and drilling operations on load-bearing sections of
the machine.

2.3.4 Replacement and wear parts as well as auxiliary supplies
Replace parts of the machine that are not in proper technical
condition without delay.
When doing so, use only original parts made or approved by the
manufacturer in order to ensure that the operating permit, in
accordance with national and international regulations, retains its
validity. When using replacement and wear parts made by third
parties, you are not guaranteed that these parts are designed and
constructed in a way that would ensure operational reliability and
safety.
The manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by using
unapproved replacement and wear parts or auxiliary supplies.
Wear parts are not covered by warranty!
Parts considered wear parts include:
Blades including their holders and fasteners
Mixing augers, both entire units and parts thereof
Shear bolts
Wear parts must be subjected to regular measurements / visual
inspections at 4-week intervals.
If experiencing extensive wear, you can interchange the mixing augers
fitted on a multi-spindle machine. This ensures uniform wear, extending
the overall service life of the mixing augers.
2.3.5 Intended use
The mixer wagons of the V-Mix PLUS series:
are vertical mixers and designed exclusively for common
applications intended for crushing, homogeneously mixing,
chopping, self-loading, transporting and discharging feeding stuff
used in animal husbandry,
are suitable for loading, crushing, homogeneously mixing,
transporting and discharging any type of silage as well as
feeding stuff commonly used in animal husbandry and whose
content of dry substance makes up no more than 30% of the
overall mix,
may only be filled using an adequate tractor with front loader or a
wheel/farmyard loader,
may only be operated by one person from the driver's seat of the
tractor.
2.3.6 Claims based on defects and liability
Claims based on defects and liability are excluded in cases of
personal injury and property damage that can be attributed to one or
several of the following causes:

2.4 General safety instructions
General safety instructions:
apply in general and are intended to ensure the safe operation of
the machine,
are summarized in the subchapters below.
2.4.1 General information on safety and accident prevention
In addition to the safety information provided in this chapter, the
general information on safety and accident prevention applicable
in the respective country must be observed!
Wear your personal protective equipment while working on the
machine!
Follow the warnings and instructions attached to the machine.
These instructions provide you with important information on how
to handle the machine in a safe and trouble-free manner!
In addition to the general safety information provided in this
chapter, the action-related safety instructions laid out in the other
chapters must be observed as well!
Adapt your driving style in such a way that you remain in full
control of tractor and mounted / hitched machine at all times!
The factors to be considered in this regard are the driver's
personal abilities, the road, traffic, visual and weather conditions,
the driving characteristics of the tractor and the impact by the
mounted / hitched machine.
Keep everyone away from the immediate area of the machine
before moving the machine or putting it into operation! Pay
particular attention to children!
Do not transport any person or object on the machine! Allowing
people to hitch a ride or transport objects on the machine is
prohibited!

Coupling and uncoupling the machine
Only hitch up and transport the machine to/with a suitable
tractor!
Mount the machine properly to the designated fixtures!
When mounting the machine at the front and/or the rear of a
tractor, do not exceed any of the following values:
the permissible gross weight of the tractor,
the permissible axle loads of the tractor,
the permissible drawbar load on the coupling point of the
tractor,
the permissible towed load of the connecting equipment of
the tractor,
the permissible load capacity of the tractor tyres!
Secure tractor and machine against rolling away before coupling
or uncoupling the machine!
No one is allowed between tractor and machine while the tractor
is moved up to the machine or the three-point hydraulic system
is being actuated!
Any assistants present may only help the driver steer the vehicle
while standing next to the vehicles and must not step between
the vehicles unless they are at a standstill.
When coupling and uncoupling the machine, move the
necessary supporting devices to the corresponding support
position (stability)!
There is a risk of personal injury from crushing and shearing
during the actuation of the supporting devices!
Use extra caution when coupling and uncoupling the machine to
and from the tractor! There is a risk of being bruised or cut in the
area of the coupling points between tractor and machine!
No one is allowed between tractor and machine while the three-
point hydraulic system is being actuated!
Check all coupled supply lines. Coupled supply lines:
must easily yield without tension, kinking or friction when
the vehicles negotiate curves,
must not rub against other components!
Always set down the uncoupled machine such that it is stable!

Use of the machine
Before starting to work, familiarize yourself with all devices and
controls of the machine and the way they operate! It will be too
late to do so when work is underway.
Wear close-fitting clothing! Loose-fitting clothing increases the
risk of entrapment or entanglement on drive shafts!
Only commission the machine if all guards are mounted and in
the safety position!
The maximum payload of the mounted / hitched machine and
the permissible axle and drawbar loads of the tractor must be
observed! If necessary, drive the machine with the loading space
only partially filled.
All personnel are required to stay out of:
the work / danger area of the machine,
the ejection area of the machine,
the turning and swivel range of the moving parts on the
machine,
the area below raised and unsecured moving parts of the
machine!
There are areas with a risk of being bruised or cut by the moving
parts of the machine which are actuated by non-muscular energy
(e.g. hydraulic)!
Do not operate any parts of the machine that are actuated by
non-muscular energy unless no one is in the danger area of the
machine!
Secure the tractor against starting up and rolling away
inadvertently before exiting the tractor!
Securely support raised covers before allowing anyone to step
under these raised covers!

Transporting the machine (regulations applicable to the drawing vehicle)
While traveling on public roadways, observe the road traffic
regulations applicable in the respective country!
Prior to transport trips:
verify that supply lines have been properly connected.
verify that the lighting system is free of damage and clean
and operates properly.
check the brake and hydraulic system for any obvious
defects.
check if the parking brake has been fully released.
verify that the brake system functions properly!
Always ensure that the steering and braking capacity of the
tractor are sufficient!
Machine as well as loads mounted / hitched to the front or the
rear of the tractor will affect the driving characteristics as well as
the steering and braking capacity of the tractor.
Use front counterweights as necessary!
The front axle of the tractor must be subjected to at least
20% of the tractor's unladen weight in order to ensure that
the steerability of the tractor remains sufficient.
Always attach front counterweights properly to the
designated attachment points!
The maximum payload of the mounted / hitched machine and
the permissible axle and drawbar loads of the tractor must be
observed!
Always check the brake action before starting to drive! The
tractor must generate the prescribed brake retardation for the
combination of tractor and mounted / hitched machine!
When negotiating curves with the machine mounted / hitched,
take the wide radius and the centrifugal mass of the machine
into account!
Avoid abrupt steering maneuvers, in particularly when driving up
and down hills or along a slope!
Before making any transport trips, secure the moving parts of the
machine in the transport position. Use the designated transport
securing devices for this purpose!
Before making any transport trips, check whether the required
transport equipment, e.g. lighting, warning devices and guards,
is fitted correctly on the machine!
Adjust your driving speed to the present conditions!
Shift into a lower gear before driving down a steep hill!
Turn off independent wheel braking before setting out on
transport trips (lock the pedals)!
