General description1
This chapter contains information about this operating manual as well as general safety
instructions on how to handle the V-COMFORT Bedding.
Hereinafter, the V-COMFORT Bedding will also be referred to as machine.
Information on the operating manual1.1
This operating manual is an essential part of the user documentation provided for this machine.
All information, data and regulations specified in this operating manual must be observed. The
operating manual will help operate the machine safely and with a high degree of availability.
The depictions and specifications in this operating manual are subject to technical changes that
are intended to improve the performance of the machine.
Information on the operating manual1.2
This operating manual is intended to familiarize the operator with the machine and enable them
to make use of its intended application options.
The operating manual must be complemented with instructions on accident prevention and
environmental protection as required by existing national laws.
The operating manual must be kept legible and available at the location of the machine at all
times.
The operating manual must be read and applied by every person working with/at the machine,
for instance, during: Operation including setup, troubleshooting, care, disposal of operating and
auxiliary supplies, service (maintenance, inspection) and/ or transport.
In addition to the operating manual and the mandatory regulations on accident prevention
applicable in the country of use and at the site of application, the technical rules recognized for
safe and proper operation must be observed.

The owner is required to:
observe all national, generally applicable regulations regarding safety and accident
prevention as well as environmental protection,
limit work with/on the machine to personnel who:
are familiar with all general safety and accident-prevention regulations,
have been instructed in how to work with/on the machine,
have read and understood this operating manual.
keep all warnings attached to the machine legible at all times,
replace damaged warnings,
provide the necessary personnel protective equipment such as:
safety goggles,
work gloves,
safety shoes,
protective suit,
skin protection, etc.

Before commencing work, all personnel designated to work with/on the machine are required to:
observe all national, generally applicable regulations regarding safety and accident
prevention as well as environmental protection,
read and observe chapter 1.7 "Qualification of the personnel" of this operating manual,
read and observe chapter 2 "Safety instructions" of this operating manual,
read the chapter 2.2 "Warnings and instructions attached to the machine" of this
operating manual and observe it while operating the machine,
become familiar with the machine,
wear/use during work all personal/workplace-related protective clothing and tools
designed to provide on-the-job safety as far as is necessary to ensure safety,
read the chapters in this operating manual that are essential for the execution of the
work tasks they have been assigned,
adhere to the definitions of responsibilities.
If detecting that a fixture is no longer fully compliant with the safety regulations, the operator is
required to remedy this defect immediately. If the correction of a fault is not part of the
operator's responsibilities or the operator lacks the necessary expertise, the operator must
report the defect to his supervisor or the owner.

Before commencing work, all personnel designated to work on the machine are required to:
observe all general safety and accident-prevention regulations.
read the safety instructions and warnings set out in this operating manual and confirm
with their signature that they have understood them.
wear/use during work all personal/workplace-related protective clothing and tools
designed to provide on-the-job safety as far as is necessary to ensure safety.
adhere to the definitions of responsibilities.
As an example, work on the electrical or hydraulic equipment of the machine may only be
performed by a specially expert or an instructed person acting under the direction and
supervision of such an expert in accordance with all applicable technical rules.

NOTICE
Work with/on the machine is limited to qualified and trained personnel. The operator must
clearly define the responsibilities of the personnel with regard to operation, maintenance
and repairs.
A person in training may only work with/on the machine when supervised by an
experienced member of the personnel.
The operator may only perform the work described in this operating manual.
Work on the machine that requires professional expertise may only be performed by
specialty workshops. Specialty workshops have the qualified personnel and suitable
means (tools, lifting and supporting devices) that are necessary to perform the work in a
professional and safe manner.

This machine has been constructed according to the latest technological standards and the
recognized safety and accident prevention regulations. Nevertheless, improper use of the
machine can still endanger life and limb of the operator or a third-party and/or cause damage to
the machine and other property.
Only operate the machine as intended and only if it is in safe and proper technical condition.
DANGER
Observe the safety instructions!
Do not operate the machine unless all safety devices and guards, e.g. detachable guards
or emergency stop devices, have been properly fitted and are fully operational.
Correct faults or have faults corrected which could affect safe operation.
Take note of the residual risks and dangers listed in chapter 2 “Safety instructions”.

The machine is designed exclusively for collecting, transporting and discharging bedding
materials to be spread across high and deep bed cubicles.
The machine must be mounted to a suitable carrier vehicle (front, farmyard or wheel loader)
using a suitable fixture/holder.
The machine must be fitted with a tipping sensor (optional) if the carrier vehicle is not equipped
with its own dead man's circuit.
The machine may only be used within the performance limits set out in the chapter 3 “Technical
data”.
Any other use above and beyond this will be regarded as misuse and is prohibited. Bernard van
Lengerich cannot be held liable for any damage arising from such misuse.
Intended use also comprises:
ensuring that all activities are performed by trained specialty personnel only.
observing all information and regulations specified in the operating manual as well as all
accompanying documents.
adhering to the inspection and maintenance intervals that are mandatory or listed in the
operating manual including all accompanying documents.
ensuring that all spare parts used comply with specifications.
the exclusive use of original spare parts or modification or accessory parts approved by
the manufacturer.
Reasonably foreseeable misuse1.12
The following in particular is considered reasonably foreseeable misuse:
filling with materials that do not conform to the product specification.
use of products with altered product characteristics.
conveying hard/solid materials such as rocks, metal objects, etc. that will result in
damage to or failure of the machine.
using the machine for different purposes.
operating the machine with bypassed safety devices.
operating the machine with incomplete safety devices.
operation, maintenance and repairs of the machine by individuals other than authorized
and trained personnel.
allowing people to hitch a ride on the machine.
mounting the machine without a tipping sensor to a carrier vehicle that does not have a
“dead man's circuit” of its own (seat switch or lever with tip function).
operating the machine in a potentially explosive area.

Our "Terms of Sales and Delivery" apply as a general rule. These will be made available to the
owner of the machine no later than by the time the contract is concluded.
Claims based on defects and liability are excluded in cases of personal injury and property
damage that can be attributed to one or several of the following causes:
Improper use.
Improper installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
Operating the machine with defective safety devices or improperly mounted or non-
operational safety devices and guards.
Failure to observe the operating manual with regard to transport, storage, installation,
commissioning, operation, maintenance and setup.
Unauthorized structural modifications, attachments or retrofitting without the written
permission of the manufacturer.
Modification and accessory parts not approved by the manufacturer.
Insufficient monitoring of machine parts that are subject to wear.
Improperly performed repairs.
Welding and drilling operations on load-bearing sections of the machine.
Natural disasters caused by the impact of foreign objects and force majeure.
Vandalism.

Warnings identify hazard areas on the machine and warn of hazards which may arise in
a specific situation or in connection with a certain type of action.
Instructions contain information regarding the proper handling of the machine.
This information must be kept clean and in legible condition at all times. Replace
information that has become illegible. Order warnings and instructions from your dealer by
providing their order number.

The carrier vehicle needs to be equipped with a "dead man's circuit", i.e. there must not be a
permanent hydraulic oil supply line leading to the machine. The supply must not be
permanent and needs to require that the operator deliberately activate permanent supply to
operate the machine. The oil supply needs to be cut off immediately when the machine is not
in use.

Read and follow the instructions provided in the operating manual before servicing and
mending hydraulic hoses.

Observe all safety and warning notices affixed to the machine and make sure they are
complete and legible at all times.
Observe the general and specific safety instructions in this operating manual and in the
operating manuals supplied by third-party manufacturers.
Check if the front, farmyard or wheel loader and the machine are roadworthy and safe to
operate every time before putting them into operation.
When traveling on public roads and roadways, observe the traffic regulations:
The combination of the front, farmyard or wheel loader and the machine must comply with
German Road Traffic Regulations, StVZO.

DANGER
Mortal danger from electric voltage!
Before performing any work on the electrical system, disconnect the negative terminal of
the battery.
Use only the designated fuses. Using higher amperage fuses may destroy the electrical
system –as there is a risk of fire.
Follow the correct order when connecting and disconnecting the battery:
Connect: connect the positive terminal first before connecting the negative terminal,
Disconnect: disconnect the negative terminal first before disconnecting the positive
terminal.
After subsequently installing electrical devices or components on the machine including
connection to the on-board supply system, the user must independently verify that the
installation does not affect any faults of the vehicle's electronic system or other
components.
Make sure that subsequently installed electrical or electronic components comply with the
current revision of the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and bear the CE mark.

Mortal danger from explosion hazard!
Avoid spark formation and open flames in the vicinity of the battery.
Always seal the positive terminal of the battery with the designated cover.
WARNING
Risk of injury from missing protective equipment!
Use the prescribed safety equipment.

Use caution and pay attention throughout the work area of the machine.
Keep third parties away from the danger area of the machine before operating the

All personnel are required to stay out of:
the work/danger area of the machine.
the turning and slewing range of the moving parts on the machine.
the area below raised and unsecured moving parts of the machine.
Do not operate any parts of the machine that are actuated by non-muscular energy unless
no one is in the work/danger area.
Before exiting the front, farmyard or wheel loader, secure it against inadvertent start-up and
rolling away.
Safely support raised parts of the machine before anyone accesses the area underneath
the raised parts.

DANGER
Risk of personal injury and damage to the machine during coupling and uncoupling!
There is a risk of being bruised or cut in the area of the coupling points between the
front, farmyard or wheel loader and the machine.
When coupling the machine to the front mount of a front, farmyard or wheel loader, you
must observe the operating manual of the front, farmyard or wheel loader.
Secure the front, farmyard and wheel loader and the machine against inadvertent start-up
and rolling away before entering the danger area between the front, farmyard and wheel
loader and the machine in order to couple or uncouple the machine.
Couple and transport the machine only with suitable front, farmyard or wheel loaders.
Use and secure the designated devices used to link the front, farmyard or wheel loader to
the machine as intended.
Mount the machine properly to the designated fixtures.
The machine may only be mounted/hitched to suitable front, farmyard or wheel loaders.
Do not exceed the maximum permissible drawbar loads, towed loads and axle loads of the
front, farmyard or wheel loader.
Machines mounted or hitched to a front, farmyard or wheel loader will affect the driving
characteristics as well as the steering and braking capacity of the front, farmyard or wheel
loader. Always ensure that the steering and braking capacity of the front, farmyard or wheel
loader are sufficient.
Any assistants present may only help the driver steer the vehicle while standing next to the
vehicles and must not step between the vehicles unless they are at a standstill.
When coupling and uncoupling the machine, move the necessary supporting devices to the
corresponding support position (stability).
Use extra caution when coupling and uncoupling the machine to and from the front,
farmyard or wheel loader.
Check all coupled supply lines. Coupled supply lines must easily yield without tension,
kinking or friction when the vehicles negotiate curves and must not rub against other
components.
Always set down the uncoupled machine such that it is stable.
