Precautions and Warranty
2-wire wall mounted PIR occupancy switch
WAPIR WAPIRX
DANLERS 2-wire wall mounted passive infra-red occupancy switch
(WAPIR) does not require a neutral connection and can be used as a
simplereplacementforanexistingone-waywallswitch.
TheWAPIRincorporatesapassiveinfra-redquadsensortodetectmovement
ofawarmbodywithinthedetectionzone(diagramA)andaphotocellto
monitortheambientlightlevel.
Upondetectingmovement,iftheambientlightisdarkenough,theWAPIR
switch will turn the load on. The ambient threshold can be set by the user
tobetweenapproximately100luxandinnitelux(photocellinactive)via
theLUXadjuster(diagramB).
Ifno moremovement isdetected withinapre-selectedtime,thenthe
WAPIRswitchwillturntheloadoff.ThistimelagcanbesetviatheTIME
adjuster to 10 seconds, 20s, 40s, 1 minute 15 seconds, 2m30s, 5m, 10m,
20mor40minutes(diagramB).
TheWAPIRalsoincorporatesasensitivityadjuster.
Turnfullyclockwise
formaximumrangeandsensitivityofthepersondetector.
The WAPIR has a manual switch on the front plate to select between
‘override off’ (button out) or ‘automatic mode’ (button in). The button
on the WAPIRXisaccessedthroughasmallholeinthefrontoftheunit
andfunctionsinthesameway.
SeveralWAPIRunitscanbewiredinparallel,usingre-functioned2-way
lighting wiring, to allow multiple PIR detection (diagram C).
Loading limits
TheWAPIRshouldonlybeconnectedtoa230V50HzACsupply.
DANLERSWAPIRunitscanswitchupto6amps(1500W)of:
• Fluorescentlamps,eitherhighfrequencyofswitchstart
• Incandescentormainshalogenlamps(recommendedwithintegralsafetyfuse)
• Electronicorwirewoundtransformers.
They can also switch up to:
• 2amps(500W)ofcompactuorescentorLEDlamps(typically50lamps)
• 1amp(250W)ofFans.
Largerloadscanbeswitchedviaacontactor(seeover).

Lux and Time set-up
Forconvenience,ensurethattheTIMEissettotheminimumandthe
buttoninwhensettinguptheLUXlevel.AfterwardssettheTIMEand
SENStovaluessuitablefortheapplication.
The LUX is best set up when the local ambient light is close to the
minimumdesiredlightlevel.WiththeLUXsetfullyclockwisewaitforthe
WAPIRtoswitchoff.RotatetheLUXadjusterslowlyanticlockwise(-to
+),whilstwavingyourhandapproximately1minfrontoftheWAPIR,
until the load switches on.
Fault nding
The load will not switch on:
• Theoverrideswitchisinthe‘out’position.
Theloadstayspermanentlyonoroff,possiblyafterafewweeks.
• Theloadislessthan40WRESISTIVEperswitchandthe
rechargeable battery has not been able to recharge.
Addonepowerfactorcorrectioncapacitor,atalighttting,for
eachWAPIRinthecircuit.Ordercode:CAPLOAD.
Replace battery with a similar, recharged, rechargeable battery.
Alternatively,putthebuttonout(overrideoff)andwiththe
productlooseonthewall,tapitwithascrewdriverhandle,the
lampswillswitchoffandthebatterywillcharge.
