Product Specific Applications
May be used to support a MAXIMUM 1 in
a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS)
for use in Fall Arrest applications only
when used in combination with an energy
absorbing device rated to reduce fall arrest forces
to no greater than 6kN. Maximum free fall is 2m,
or 4m if used in combination with equipment
explicitly certified for such use. Certified fall arrest
connection points are clearly marked with an “A.”
The Dorsal D-ring should always be the primary
attachment point, although connection to Sternal
D-ring is permitted in cases where free fall is
suiciently limited, such as for Work Positioning,
Ladder Climbing, or Rescue.
D-ring: Dorsal, Sternal
May be used in Restraint applications.
Restraint systems prevent a worker from
reaching the leading edge of a fall hazard.
Always account for fully deployed length of
lanyard/RTFA. No free fall is permitted. Restraint
systems may only be used on surfaces with
slopes up to 18.4  (4/12 - vertical/horizontal).
D-rings: Dorsal, Side
May be used in Work Positioning
applications. Work Positioning systems
allow a worker to be supported while in
suspension and work freely with both hands. No
free fall is permitted. Anchor point must be at or
above side D-rings. Always consider the need for
a backup fall arrest system if the potential exists
for exposure to a fall.
D-ring: Side (pairs only)
RESCUE/CONFINED SPACE:
May be used in Rescue/Confined Space
applications. Rescue systems function to
safely recover a worker from a confined location
or after exposed to a fall. There are various
configurations of Rescue systems depending on
the type of rescue.

For All Product Applications
Maximum user weight (including all
clothing, tools, and equipment) is 150 kg.
Anchorage point in PFAS must be rated to
withstand minimum 12kN load and be
EN 795:2012 or 1997+A1:2000 approved.
The jobsite Competent Person (CP) must ensure
that there are sufficiently strong and accessible
anchorage points in the working environment.
Anchorages should be overhead when possible
and the area beneath and around them should
be clear of obstruction and sharp edges. Always
attach to an anchorage that is as close to the
point of work and as high above head as possible
without restricting free movement. The user
should be aware at all times of which attachment
points to use; if not immediate obvious they must
seek confirmation from the CP. Always ensure
that the means of attachment to the anchorage is
secure before beginning work.
Worker Definitions
Competent Person Definition
The job site safety supervisor, referred to in this
manual as the Competent Person (CP), must be
a highly trained and experienced person who
is assigned by the employer to be responsible
for all elements of the fall safety program; this
includes, but is not limited to, program regulation,
management, and application. The CP must be
proficient in identifying existing and predictable
fall hazards, and must have the authority to stop
work to eliminate hazards or otherwise promote
safe and compliant work practices.
Authorised Person Definition
A person who is assigned by their employer to
work around or be subject to potential or existing
fall hazards.

Compatibility
When making connections with equipment,
eliminate all possibility of roll-out. Roll-out
occurs when interference between a hook and
the attachment point causes the hook gate to
unintentionally open and release. All connections
must be selected and deemed compatible with
this equipment by CP. All connectors must be
EN362:2004 approved.

WARNING!If the user weighs between 100-
150 kg, ensure all PPE equipment in the PFAS for
use in fall arrest, restraint, or work positioning is
rated to the maximum permitted user weight for
the applicable standards as listed above.

Maintenance, Cleaning,
and Storage
Maintenance and cleaning after use is important
for maintaining the safety and longevity of
equipment. Remove all dirt, corrosives, and
contaminants from equipment before and after
each use. Textiles must only be cleaned with
plain water (not exceeding 50°C), or if plain water
is not sufficient, with mild soap/water solution
and left to dry naturally out of direct sunlight
and away from direct heat sources. Never store
when equipment is wet. Never clean equipment
with corrosive substances. When not in use or
during transport, store equipment where it will
not be affected by heat, light, excessive moisture,
chemicals, or other degrading elements.

Limitations
Fall Clearance: There must be sufficient
clearance below the work surface to arrest a
fall before the user strikes the ground or an
obstruction. When calculating fall clearance,
account for a MINIMUM 1m safety factor,
deceleration distance, user height, length of
lanyard/RTFA, harness stretch, free fall, and all
other applicable factors.
See Diagram A on page 15.
Swing Falls: Prior to installation or use, make
considerations for eliminating or minimising all
swing fall hazards. Swing falls occur when the
anchor is not directly above the location where
a fall occurs. Always work as close to in line
with the anchor point as possible. Swing falls
significantly increase the likelihood of serious
injury or death in the event of a fall.
Lifespan
Guardian products consisting entirely of non-
textile components do not have a fixed lifespan.
Guardian products that consist of textile
components of any kind have a maximum
lifespan of 10 years from the date of manufacture.
Maximum product lifespan is not guaranteed, and
is subject to the proper use, storage, maintenance,
and inspection conditions as detailed in the
applicable product instruction manual. Products
exposed to hazardous environments, including,
but not limited to, demolition, steel construction,
high heat, UV radiation, chemicals, or high
salinity may have a reduced lifespan. Product
suitability for use can only be determined by
pre-use inspections, scheduled maintenance,
thorough inspection conducted by a Competent
Person (CP), and other conditions as specified by
the risk assessment and the product instruction
manual.
Quality
All Guardian products are manufactured under
ISO 9001:2015 and to the highest standards.

Donning and Use
PFAS equipment must be selected and
deemed compatible with harness by
a Competent Person (CP). ALWAYS
follow instructions of equipment used in
combination with this harness. NEVER
attach connector anywhere other than
applicable connection points. Any excess
strap webbing MUST be stored in Webbing
Keepers.
Roller and Friction Adjustments allow the user to
adjust harness straps. Pull on webbing strap to
tighten or pull down on buckle to loosen.
To adjust dorsal D-ring (model dependant), slide
placard up or down webbing. Dorsal D-ring must
rest between the middle of the shoulder blades.
Quick-Connect buckles are activated by
engaging two release levers simultaneously to
release the male piece from the female receiver.
Adjustments are made by feeding webbing
through the male end using a friction style buckle.
Side rings are rated for Restraint or Work
Positioning applications only. When used in a
Work Positioning application, connect to side
rings with appropriate dual leg positioning
device, as determined by the jobsite CP.
To connect Pass-Through buckle, angle male
buckle so it is positioned to pass up and through
female buckle. Fully insert male buckle so that it
lies flat on top of female buckle.

WARNING!Lanyard keepers provided
on harness chest strap are intended for
the storage of an unused connector leg
only, and are designed to break away if
exposed to excess force.
A lanyard keeper is not a D-ring. NEVER
connect to lanyard keepers for the
purposes of fall protection at any time.

Step 1
For fixed leg models, step into leg loop and pull
up over legs. For QC leg models, connect QC
buckle then step into leg loop and pull up over
legs. Do not fully tighten straps during this step.
Step 2
Pull harness up over torso and place shoulder
straps over shoulders.
Step 3
Pass male buckle (PT or QC) through front chest
ring. Fold chest strap back over ring and connect
to female buckle.

Tighten/adjust all straps as necessary.

Some steps may require assistance.
We recommend another person, with
knowledge of safe and correct harness
use, ensures the harness is worn correctly.
WARNING!Any twisting of webbing,
or straps that are fitted too loose or
too tight, can significantly increase
the risk of serious injury or death in
the event of a fall.
Dorsal D-ring, chest strap, shoulder
straps, and leg straps MUST be fitted for
each individual user.
Carry out a suspension test in a safe place
prior to using the harness for the first
time. Ensure that it is the correct size,
has suicient adjustment, and is of an
acceptable comfort level for the intended
use.

Do not alter or misuse equipment.
Workplace conditions, including, but not limited
to, corrosive chemicals, electrical shock, sharp
objects or edges, machinery, flame/high heat,
abrasive or uneven surfaces, UV exposure, and
severe or prolonged weather conditions, must be
assessed by a Competent Person (CP) before fall
protection equipment is selected. The presence
of any/all of these conditions may have negative
effects on product performance or service lifetime.
The analysis of the workplace must anticipate
where workers will be performing their duties,
the routes they will take to reach their work, and
the potential and existing fall hazards they may
be exposed to. Fall protection equipment must be
chosen by a CP. Selections must account for all
potential hazardous workplace conditions. All fall
protection equipment should be purchased new
and in an unused condition.
Fall protection systems must be selected and
installed under the supervision of a CP, and used
in a compliant manner. The system must be
designed in a manner compliant with all federal,
state, and safety regulations. Forces applied to
anchors must be calculated by a CP.

Harnesses and connectors selected must be
compliant with manufacturer’s instructions, and
must be of compatible size and configuration.
Snap hooks, karabiners, and other connectors
must be selected and applied in a compatible
fashion. All risk of disengagement must be
eliminated. All snap hooks and karabiners must
be self-locking and self-closing, and must never
be connected to each other.

A pre-planned rescue procedure in the case
of a fall is required. The rescue plan must be
project-specific. The rescue plan must allow for
employees to rescue themselves, or provide an
alternative means for their prompt rescue. Store
rescue equipment in an easily accessible and
clearly marked area.
Training of Authorised Persons (APs) to correctly
erect, disassemble, inspect, maintain, store, and
use equipment must be provided by a CP. Training
must include the ability to recognise fall hazards,
minimise the likelihood of fall hazards, and the
correct use of personal fall arrest systems.
NEVER use fall protection equipment of any kind
to hang, lift, support, or hoist tools or equipment,
unless explicitly certified for such use.
Equipment subjected to forces of fall arrest must
immediately be removed from use.
Age, fitness, and health conditions can seriously
affect the worker should a fall occur. Consult a
doctor if there is any reason to doubt a user’s
ability to safely withstand fall arrest forces or
perform set-up of equipment. Pregnant women
and minors MUST NOT use this equipment.
Physical harm may still occur even if fall safety
equipment functions correctly. Sustained post-
fall suspension may result in serious injury or
death. Use trauma relief straps to reduce the
effects of suspension trauma.

Inspection
Prior to EACH use, inspect the equipment and
connection points for signs of deficiencies,
including, but not limited to, corrosion,
deformation, pits, burrs, rough surfaces, sharp
edges, cracking, rust, paint build-up, excessive
heating, alteration, broken stitching, fraying,
missing or illegible labels, and additionally all
check points in the pre-use inspection criteria.
IMMEDIATELY remove equipment from service
if defects or damage are found, or if exposed to
forces of fall arrest. Ensure that applicable work
area is free of all damage, including, but not
limited to, debris, rot, rust, decay, cracking, and
hazardous materials.
See Inspection Log on page 13.
Workplace conditions, including, but not limited
to, flame/high heat, corrosive chemicals, electrical
shock, sharp objects or edges, machinery,
abrasive or uneven surfaces, UV exposure, and
severe or prolonged weather conditions, must
be assessed by a CP before fall protection
equipment is selected. The presence of any/all
of these conditions may have negative effects on
product performance or service lifetime. Always
inspect the entirety of the product.
Pre-Use Inspection:
Webbing: Ensure the webbing is free from cuts,
abrasion, wear and tears. Pay special attention
to the webbing under buckles for rubbing and
general deterioration. Check that the weave of the
webbing is even and shows no sign of distortion.
Fall Arrest Indicators (if fitted): Inspect the
fall arrest indicators for signs of deployment,
deployment includes but is not limited to,
missing/damaged arrest indicator or damaged
thread on arrest indicator.
Buckles: Check for damage or distortion. Surface
coating should be clean and show no sign of
corrosion.
Sewing: Inspect for loose or damaged threads
and general integrity of stitching.
Labelling: Ensure product labelling is present
and entirely legible. Ensure product age has not
exceeded the stated lifespan.
Thorough Inspection:
CP other than user must complete and record
thorough inspection at least every 6 months or
every 3 months if used in oshore or corrosive
environments. In addition, local regulations in
regard to inspection must be followed. CP to
inspect and initial. Separate inspection logs must
be used for each individual piece of equipment.
All inspection records must be made visible and
available to all users at all times. If equipment fails
inspection, it must be immediately removed from
service and discarded in accordance with local
legislation/rules. During inspection, consider
all applications and hazards the equipment
has been subjected to. Ensure that equipment
certification is current and correct.
