Installation Overview
Thank you for purchasing Hunter Douglas motorized roller shades. With proper installation,
operation, and care, your new shades will provide years of beauty and performance.
Please thoroughly review this instruction booklet and the enclosed packing list before
beginning the installation. Check the packaging to be sure you have all the components
needed to install your shade. Keep the packaging until the shades perform to your
satisfaction.
Tools and Fasteners Needed
■ Flat blade and Phillips screwdrivers
■ Level (laser level is recommended)
■ Measuring tape and pencil
■ Needle nose pliers
■ Paperclip
■ ST30. Power drill, 3∕32" drill bit, and ¼" hex driver
■ ST50/LT525. Power drill, 1∕8" drill bit, and 5∕32" hex driver
■ Pocket. Power drill, 11∕64" and 1∕8" drill bit
In addition, you will need fasteners designed to work with your specific mounting surface(s).
■ ST30 — #6 Hex x 1½" Head Screws
(Provided). Two 1½" screws are provided
per installation bracket.
■ ST50/LT525 — #10 Hex x 2" Head
Screws (Provided). Two 2" screws are
provided per installation bracket.
Mounting Types and Window Terminology
If the installation brackets are mounted correctly, the rest of the installation process follows
easily. To prepare for this important first step, review the mounting types and basic window
terminology.

■ Installation Brackets for ST50 and LT525
Motor. The installation brackets are supplied in
pairs. The bracket with a spring clip is used for
the motor-side of the shade and the idle-side
bracket is used for the idle-side of the shade.
■ Intermediate Bracket for Coupled Shades.
Used to join up to five shade panels together
using one motor. Depending on how many
panels are being joined together, 1 to 4
intermediate brackets are supplied. The bracket(s) face the end
plug bracket.
■ Pocket Shades. The
number of #10 x 1½" Phillips
hex washer head screws
(not provided) required will
vary depending on the width
of the shade, as shown in
the table.
CAUTION: Hunter Douglas
strongly recommends that
shades in a pocket be
mounted through wood or
metal studs by a professional installer.
■ Remote Control. One of these remote controls will be
included with your order.

Mount the Installation Brackets — ST30
The two installation brackets for ST30 motor are identical.
■ Inside Mount Shades. Place each of the brackets on the
inside of the window casement. Mark the screw holes.
➤ The minimum mounting depth required and fully
recessed depth is 2".
■ Outside Mount Shades. Center the ordered width
measurement over the window and mark its location.
➤ Place the outside edge of the brackets on the
previously made marks and mark the screw holes.
➤ A minimum 21/8" flat vertical surface is required to
mount the brackets.
➤ The top of the installation brackets should be at the
desired height. The brackets should be level and
aligned.
■ Drill the screw holes using a 3/32" drill bit.
■ Use a level to check that the mounting surface is level.
■ Attach the installation brackets using the screws provided.
WARNING: Product is heavy. Mount into wood/metal studs or into concrete
with concrete anchors. Drywall anchors are not recommended.

Mount the Installation Brackets — ST50/LT525
■ The bracket with a spring clip is used for the
motor-side of the shade.
■ The brackets can be used for inside, outside,
orceiling mount.
■ The brackets are always installed so the inner
surfaces face each other, asshown. The
brackets must be mounted so the shade is level
wheninstalled.
Motor-Side Bracket
■ Discreetly mark both the center of the shade and the center of
the window in which the shade will be mounted.
■ Remove the spring clip from the bracket and set itaside.
■ Fit the motor-side bracket onto theshade.
■ Hold the shade and motor-side bracket in the desired location
at the window. Use your marks to position the bracket and
mark its location.
IMPORTANT: The front edges of the installation brackets must
be level and aligned to eachother.
■ Remove the shade from the window.
■ Use your marks to position the motor-side bracket,
then mark each of the screw holes.
■ Drill the screw holes using a 1∕8" drill bit.
WARNING: Product is heavy. Mount into
wood/metal studs or into concrete with
concrete anchors. Drywall anchors are not
recommended.
■ Use a level to check that the mounting surface is level. Shim the brackets if necessary.
Shims are not provided.
■ Attach the motor-side bracket using the screws provided.

Idle-Side Bracket
■ Place the idle-side bracket over the loaded spring pin on
the end of theshade.
■ Place the shade into the motor-side bracket. Do not install
the springclip.
■ Hold the shade and idle-side bracket in the desired
position at the window to mark the bracket location. Do
not compress the spring.
■ Remove the shade from the window.
■ Use your marks to position the idle-side bracket,
then mark each of the screw holes.
