shade has been custom built for you from the highest quality materials. Once in your
window, it will provide you with a lifetime of beauty and trouble-free use.
Installation has been designed to be as simple as possible. Please review the
instructions to acquaint yourself with all of the procedures.

GETTING STARTED
Remove the shade from the package. Keep the packaging until the shade operates
to your satisfaction.
Check the diagram (next page) to make sure you have the necessary parts.
Tools And Fasteners Needed

You will also need fasteners designed to work with your specific mounting surface.
Hex head screws (11/4") are supplied.

MOUNT THE INSTALLATION BRACKETS

Bracket placement is the same for inside and outside mounts.
Measure 2" in from the ends of the headrail and mark the bracket location on the
mounting surface.

Space additional brackets evenly between the end brackets.
Adjust the bracket placement to accommodate obstructions to the bottom rail,
such as window cranks or handles.
Inside Mount Applications
The depth required for a fully recessed inside mount depends on the type of
installation bracket and sill dimensions.
NOTE: Add the dimension of obstructions such as window cranks or handles
to the minimum depth.
Center each bracket over the previously made mark on the mounting surface.
Attach using one or two screws, as necessary.
Use a level to check that the brackets are level and aligned.
Outside Mount Applications
The minimum mounting height for outside mounted
shades is 5/8".
Center each bracket over a mark on the
mounting surface.
Attach using one screw.

Spacer Blocks (Optional)
Each spacer block projects the installation bracket
1/2" away from the mounting surface.
Mount with solid sides facing
mounting surface.
Mounting screws should be long enough for a
secure installation.
Use a level to check that the spacer blocks
are level and aligned.
Attach using one screw.
Use a maximum of three spacer blocks
per bracket.
Extension Brackets (Optional)
Extension brackets project the installation bracket
up to 21/2" from the mounting surface. This allows
for additional clearance for obstructions such as
window cranks or handles.
To shorten the extension brackets, use pliers to
break along the indentations.
Use a level to check that the extension brackets
are level and aligned.
Attach using two screws.
Attach the installation brackets to the underside
of the extension brackets using the machine
screws and nuts provided.
NOTE: Attach the installation bracket to the
same holes on all extension brackets to ensure
that the installation brackets are projected the
same distance away from the mounting surface.

INSTALL THE SHADE
Unwind the cord from around the shade assembly.
Position the shade so that the front (colored fabric) faces toward you.
Slip the headrail into the installation brackets so the front of the bracket slides
under the front groove on the top of the headrail.
Gently roll the headrail up and push back to snap into place.
ATTACH ACCESSORIES
LiteRise®Handle
Attach the handle at the center of the
bottom rail.
Hook the prongs of the handle onto the lip
of the bottom rail.
Rotate the handle downward until it catches
under the bottom rail.
Attach Hold-Down Brackets (Optional)
Hold-down brackets can only be used on outside
mounted shades.
Lower the shade and place the pins from
the hold-down brackets into the bottom rail
end caps.
Mark the mounting hole locations on the
mounting surface.
Check that the brackets are level and attach
them to the mounting surface using two screws.

REMOVE THE SHADE
Lower the shade approximately 4".
While holding the front of the
headrail for support, use a standard
flat blade screwdriver and insert it
between the bottom of the bracket
and the back of the headrail, as
shown. Twist the screwdriver to
release the back edge of the headrail.
After releasing the back edge, roll the
back of the headrail downward and
out from the bracket.
If the bracket is stiff, the headrail may be difficult to remove. Use a flat blade
screwdriver wrapped in a soft cloth and push the blade against the bottom tab of
the mounting bracket.
CAUTION: Be careful not to scratch the finish on the back of the headrail.
OPERATING THE SHADE
For better support and smoother operation, use the handle when raising and lowering
the shade.

ADJUSTING THE SHADE
Verify Shade Height
Raise and lower the shade several times.
If the height is incorrect or the bottom rail is not level, use the following steps
to correct.
Shade Height Adjustment
Shade height and adjustments to level the bottom rail can
be made by adjusting the cord on the underside of the
bottom rail.
For 3/4" And 11/4" Headrails:
Adjust the height and level of the bottom rail by sliding the
buckle up or down on the tape.
Locate the buckle seated in a pocket on the
bottom rail.
Pull on the excess cord to remove the buckle from the
pocket as you lift up the rail.
Unthread one loop of the tape by pulling it out of the
top slot.
Slide the buckle along the tape to change the length of
the shade and to level the bottom rail.
After adjusting, thread the tape back through the
top slot of the buckle to lock the buckle’s position.
Before inserting the buckle back into its pocket,
pull the end of the tape over the top of the
buckle and then down.
Check your adjustment by making sure the shade
stacks evenly when raised to the top.
Once you are certain you have made the final
adjustment and have fully inserted the buckle into the
pocket, trim the tape flush with the buckle and bottom
rail.
For 3/8" Headrails:
Shade height and adjustments to level the bottom rail can
be made by adjusting the cord on the underside of the
bottom rail.
Locate the ferrule, seated in a pocket in the bottom rail.
Remove the ferrule by pulling on the excess cord. If the
cord has been trimmed, you will need to use needlenose pliers to access it.

CARE AND CLEANING
Hunter Douglas honeycomb shades are made of an anti-static, dust-resistant fabric
which repels dirt and dust. For most honeycomb fabrics, the following options are
available if your shade needs cleaning.
Dusting
Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning that is needed in
most circumstances.
Vacuuming
Use a hand-held vacuum with low suction for more thorough
dust removal.
CAUTION: Do not vacuum Architella™Elan™or Architella Elan Eclipse™fabrics.
Spot-Cleaning
Prepare a solution of warm water and a mild detergent.
Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and wring it out.
Dab the spot with the dampened cloth until it is gone. Do not rub the fabric.
Allow the shade to dry in the completely lowered position.
CAUTION: Do not spot-clean Batiste, Opalessence™, Puressence™, or Royale fabrics.

To shorten the cord, hold the cord under the ferrule taut.
Then slide the ferrule up toward the pocket.
To lengthen the cord, hold the cord tight between the
pocket and the ferrule. Then slide the ferrule down.
After adjusting, place the ferrule fully back into
the pocket.
Once you are certain of the final adjustments, trim the
cord flush with the ferrule and bottom rail.

Deep Cleaning
Immerse the shade in a basin or bathtub filled with a mild detergent. Never
immerse the headrail in the solution.
Rinse with clean water.
Fully raise the shade and tilt to eliminate excess water.
Reinstall the damp shade, lower it, and let it dry completely.
CAUTION: Do not immerse Architella™Elan Eclipse™, Architella Panache
Eclipse™, Commercial, Opalessence™, Puressence™, Royale, or any blackout or
opaque fabrics.
Ultrasonic Cleaning
Some honeycomb fabrics can be ultrasonically cleaned by a professional.
Specify that a mild detergent solution be used.
Never immerse the headrail in the solution.
Dry the shade completely in the lowered position.
CAUTION: Do not ultrasonically clean Architella Elan Eclipse, Architella
Panache Eclipse, Casuelle™, Commercial, Opalessence, Puressence, or any
blackout or opaque fabrics.
Injection/Extraction
Honeycomb shades can be professionally cleaned using the injection/extraction method.
A dry method of injection/extraction is required for Architella Elan™, Architella Elan
Eclipse, Architella Panache™, Architella Panache Eclipse, Casuelle, Commercial,
Opalessence, Panache™, and any blackout or opaque fabrics.
If using injection/extraction for Batiste fabrics, specify that no chemicals are used
(water only).
Never immerse the headrail in the solution.
CAUTION: Do not use injection/extraction cleaning on Puressence fabrics.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Be sure the cord
loop ts into
the ferrule
groove.

Check the installation brackets. Make sure the
shade fabric is not caught between the bracket and
the headrail.
Check inside the headrail. Make sure no obstructions
keep the mechanism from turning.
Check that the lift cords are not pinched or tangled.

not snap into the
mounting brackets.
Make sure the mounting brackets are level
and aligned.

The shade will
not raise.
If hold-down brackets are used, make sure they have
been released.
•
The lift cords hang
from the bottom rail.
The cords provide an easy way to level the bottom
rail. Once adjusted correctly, cut off the extra cord.
•
The ferrule has come
off the cord. How do
I rethread the ferrule?
Thread the end of the
cord into the tapered
end of the ferrule.
Loop the end around
the ferrule and back
through the tapered
end. Make sure the loop
fits into the groove on
the side of the ferrule.
