GETTING STARTED
Thank you for purchasing Hunter Douglas Pirouette®Window Shadings with PowerView+™
Gen 3 Automation. With proper installation, operation, and care, your new shadings will
provide years of beauty and performance.
Please thoroughly review this instruction booklet and the enclosed packing list before
beginning the installation. For information regarding operation and programming, refer to the
guide included with your remote control or wireless wall switch.

■ Longer #6 Hex Head Screws (Not Provided). If using spacer blocks, use #6 screws
long enough for a secure attachment.
■ Speed Nuts and Screws (Provided). Extension brackets come with screws and
speed nuts.
■ Drywall Anchors (Not Provided). Use drywall anchors when mounting into drywall.
Important Operating Note
If a shading has been fully lowered with the vanes open for a long period of time,
the vanes may become “set” — they may not easily close or flatten. This is a normal
characteristic of fabric products.
If this happens, toggle the shading up and down to coax the vanes as closed as possible.
If necessary, gently pull down on the lowest operable vane. You may also dress the vanes
gently with your hands to help them close. Then roll up the shading slowly to flatten the
vanes. Allow the fabric to remain in the headrail for up to 24 hours.
To prevent vane set, regularly “exercise” the shading by raising and lowering it and
opening and closing the vanes.

Installation Overview
To install your shading, you will need to perform the following three steps:
STEP 1: Mount the Installation Brackets
STEP 2: Install the Shading
STEP 3: Connect the Power Source, If Applicable
STEP 1 — Mount the Installation Brackets
■ Your order will include the correct number of installation brackets for your shading width,
as shown in the table below.
■ Shading orders may also include spacer blocks or extension brackets, if they were
specified for added clearance.
➤ Extension brackets are used for end mount shadings, as well.
Mounting Types and Window Terminology
If the installation brackets are mounted correctly, the rest of the installation process follows
easily. To prepare for this important first step, review the mounting types and basic window
terminology illustrated below.

Ensure your brackets will not interfere with the cable location coming from the PowerView+TM
Gen 3 Smart Power Supply. See the recommended cable locations below. The cable should
exit on the same side that the shading motor is on.

Mount the Installation Brackets
■ Mark 2" from each jamb for bracket location.
➤ If more than two installation brackets came with your order, space additional bracket(s)
evenly between the two end brackets and mark their location. Mount into wood
whenever possible.
NOTE: Before the headrail is installed, the bracket levers need to be fully to the left.
Once the headrail is properly in place, the levers automatically click to the right.
■ Center the brackets on your marks and mark the location of the screw holes.
➤ The minimum casement depth required for installation
brackets is 1".
➤ The minimum casement depth required for a fully
recessed mount is 3

■ Use a level to check that the mounting surface is level.
Shim the brackets, if necessary.
■ Drill the screw holes using a

⁄ 32 " drill bit.
CAUTION: Use drywall anchors when mounting into drywall.
■ Attach the installation brackets using the screws provided.
IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws. Check to ensure
the bracket lever can be moved easily side to side. If not, loosen
the screws in one-eighth turn increments until the lever can be
moved easily.
IMPORTANT: The front edges of the installation brackets
must be level and aligned to each other.

Mount the Installation Brackets — Outside Mount
Mount the Installation Brackets
■ Center the headrail over the window opening at the desired height. Use a pencil to lightly
mark the wall at each end of the headrail.
➤ Alternatively, measure the width of the headrail and use that width to mark the
headrail end points over the window opening.
■ Mark 2" from each end of the headrail.
➤ If more than two installation brackets came with your order, space additional bracket(s)
evenly between the two end brackets and mark their location. Mount into wood
whenever possible.
NOTE: Before the headrail is installed, the bracket levers need to be fully to the left.
Once the headrail is properly in place, the levers automatically click to the right.
■ Center the installation brackets or extension brackets on your marks and mark where to
drill the screw holes.
➤ A minimum 1" flat vertical surface isrequired for the installation brackets. Extension

Mount the Installation Brackets — End Mount
End mount the headrail when conventional mounting techniques will not work — for example,
in an arched window opening.
Mount the Extension and Installation Brackets
■ Mount extension brackets to each side of the opening at the desired height of the shading.
➤ The mounting surface must be vertical and flat, not part of an arched curve.
■ Attach the installation brackets to the extension brackets using the provided screws and
speed nuts.
IMPORTANT: On the motor side, the installation bracket must be attached at the end of
extension bracket.
WARNING: To end mount shadings
into a surface other than a secure wall
stud, use medium to heavy-duty wall
anchors (not provided) matched to the
wall thickness. Failure to mount the
brackets securely may result in injury or
property damage.
Install the Optional Back Cover
■ Remove the top tab on the back cover
brackets. See “If Using the Optional Back
Cover...” on page 4.
■ Install the cover into the back cover brackets.
■ If necessary, trim the back cover to the desired width.
Proceed to “STEP 2 — Install the Shading” on page 10.

STEP 2 — Install the Shading
IMPORTANT: Leave the protective cover on the fabric-covered headrail until you are
satisfied with the installation and operation of your shading.
■ Position the shading so that the
front faces you.
■ Slide the headrail into the
installation brackets so the edge
of the headrail is between the
lever and the bracket, as shown.
■ Firmly push the headrail into each
bracket until it clicks and the lever
snaps to the right side of the bracket.
IMPORTANT: Carefully pull on the headrail at
each bracket to ensure it is installed securely.
■ Remove the protective film from the fabric-covered headrail.
Attach the Dust Cover (Optional for Outside Mounts)
The dust cover is used to protect the top of the headrail from exposure.
■ Cut the dust cover to desired width.
■ Remove the paper backing on one side of the hook and loop
fastener dots.
■ Apply the dots to the installation brackets on each end of
theshading.
■ Remove the remaining paper backing from the dots.
■ Center the dust cover over the top of the shading, above the dots.
■ Press the dust cover down onto the dots.

STEP 3 — Connect the Power Source
NOTE: When power is connected to the motor, a blue LED inside the control button housing
will flash to indicate the shading is ready for operation.
■ Connect the shading’s power cable to the field wiring utilizing the male plug-in connector
provided with the PowerView+ Gen 3 Smart Power Supply.
➤ Refer to the instructions provided with the PowerView+ Gen 3 Smart Power Supply for
information on making the wire terminations at the shading and power supply.
■ Dress the wires and connectors to ensure they do not interfere with shading operation.
Testing the Shading
CAUTION: The shading should be installed before
following the steps below.
Testing the shading with the control button will allow
you to ensure that the motor and power source are
workingcorrectly.
■ Press the control button on the bottom of the motor
side end cap to test operation. If the shading does not
operate, see “Troubleshooting” on page 15.
➤ Press the control button to alternately lower, stop,
open/close the vanes, and raise the shading.
➤ The control button can also be used in combination
with the PowerView®App for control of advanced
shade functions and home access. Simply open the
app and then press and hold the control button to
see a list of available functions. See “Operating
the PowerView® App and Gen 3 Remote”
on page 12 for more information on setup
with the PowerView App.
CAUTION: When raising the shading for the first time, observe how the fabric rolls up
into the headrail. It should roll up evenly. If the bottom rail is not level or the shading
starts to rub against either window jamb, immediately press the control button to stop the
shading. See “Adjusting the Bottom Rail Weight” on page 16.

Operating the PowerView®App and Gen 3 Remote
Syncing and Programming Your Remote
■ Activate the remote by pulling both plastic tabs from the back battery compartment.
■ Download the PowerView®App for your smartphone or tablet at hdpvapp.com.
■ Open the PowerView App and follow the steps to set up your new shades and remote.
■ Use the PowerView App to program and manage your PowerView Gen 3 remote(s) as
accessories.
■ For more detail, refer to the digital PowerView Gen 3 Automation Remote Control Guide.
Basic Operation
■ Wake up the remote by picking it up or pressing ■STOP.
■ Press group number(s) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and/or 6 to select one or more groups. Selected group
numbers light up white on the remote.
■ Press selected group number(s) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and/or 6 a second time to deselect one or
more groups. Deselected group numbers are not lit.
■ Press ALL to select all group numbers.

Operating Tips
1. When the shading is raised, pressing the RIGHT ARROW will first lower the shading and
then open the vanes.
2. When the shading is lowered with the vanes open, pressing ▲OPEN will first close the
vanes and then raise the shading all the way.
Further Operation and Programming Information
PowerView®App
The PowerView®App is required to program PowerView Gen 3 shades, remotes, and
gateways. The App is compatible with Apple®and Android™smartphones and tablets. For
more information regarding setup and operation using the PowerView App, refer to
https://help.hunterdouglas.com/s/powerview-gen-3-automation.
PowerView®Gen 3 Gateway
The PowerView®Gen 3 Gateway is used to control shades in larger projects as well as
integrate PowerView Gen 3 shades with third-party integration systems. For information
regarding programming of PowerView Gen 3 Gateways, refer to the PowerView Gen 3
Automation Gateway Guide.
PowerView Gen 3 Remote
For more information regarding operation and programming of the PowerView Gen 3 Remote,

Resetting the Shading (If Necessary)
Calibration Reset
The calibration reset is used to recalibrate the shading’s travel limits. This action is performed
in the PowerView App.
■ Select Calibrate Shade in the Advanced Options section of the Shade Settings menu in the
PowerView App.
■ The shade will touch off on end limits, then finish in the closed position. When the shade
stops moving, calibration is complete.
Resetting Shade Programming
The PowerView®App may be used to modify or reset any shade programming to PowerView
Gen 3 remotes and gateways. Shades may be added to or removed from Rooms in the app at
any time. If necessary, shades may also be deleted from the PowerView App in the Advanced
Options section of the Shade Settings menu.
Electronic Limit Adjustments
Electronic limits are set at the factory and normally do not require readjustment. For window
treatments that may need additional adjustment or to set custom limit positions, go to Shade
Settings in the PowerView App for adjustable limits. For more information about setting limits

Troubleshooting
If your shading is not operating correctly:
■ Review the support guide for your control device.
■ Refer to the following troubleshooting for specific solutions for your shading.
If questions remain, please contact Hunter Douglas Consumer Support at [phone].
Problem
The shading will not snap into the installation brackets.
Solution Check that the installation brackets are level. Shim to level, if necessary.
Be sure the heads of the mounting screws are flush against the installation
bracket.
Check that the headrail is completely inserted into the installation brackets. See
“STEP 2 — Install the Shading” on page 10.
Problem
The shading does not operate using the control button.
Solution Check to ensure the shading’s power cable is securely connected to the male
plug-in connector. See “STEP 3 — Connect the Power Source” on page 11.
Ensure the wire terminations at the shading and the PowerView+ Gen 3 Smart
Power Supply are wired correctly. Please refer to instructions that came with
power supply.
Problem
The shading is not responding to the PowerView
®
Gen 3 remote.
Solution IMPORTANT: A shading will not operate until it is joined to a group.
Check that the correct group number is selected. The LED on that group number
will light up. You can also check which group number the shade is joined
to on the remote in the PowerView
®
App. You can find this under MORE >
ACCESSORIES in the app.
Check if the batteries need to be replaced. If the batteries are completely
drained, none of the lights will turn on. If the batteries are running low, the inner
ring buttons (open, close, right arrow, left arrow, stop) light up RED. In either
case, the batteries need to be replaced. The remote takes two CR2032 batteries.
Problem
The shading limits need to be adjusted – top limit.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem
The shading raises or lowers unevenly, the bottom rail is not level when
fully raised, or the fabric winds unevenly or starts to rub against one end
of the headrail.
Solution Check that the installation brackets are level. Shim to level, if necessary.
Check if the window is out-of-square by measuring the diagonals. Shim the
installation brackets to level, if necessary.
If the headrail is level and the window is square, adjust the bottom rail
weight.
Adjusting the Bottom Rail Weight
IMPORTANT: Only adjust the bottom rail weight if the fabric does not roll up
straight into theheadrail.
First, release both weight locks. On the back of the bottom rail, insert a flat
blade screwdriver into the slot in each weight lock and
rotate the lock up, toward the center of the rail.
Slide the weight, in 1" increments, in the direction the fabric is gathering.
Test and, if necessary, adjust again.
After final adjustment, rotate each
lock down toward the outside of the
rail to secure the weight. At least 1"
should overhang each lock.

Removing the Shading
■ Fully raise the shading.
■ Disconnect the power source from the power cable
at the back of the shading.
■ Move each lever of the installation brackets to the
left to release the shading.
➤ A flat blade screwdriver can be used to move
the lever.
CAUTION: Be very careful not to tear or
damage the fabric.
■ Carefully pull the shading to remove it from the brackets.
Cleaning Procedures
Pirouette®Window Shadings are made of 100% polyester, which means they are inherently
durable and resilient. However, care must be taken to avoid wrinkling the fabric, particularly
where the vanes meet the sheer backing fabric.
CAUTION: Do not steam Pirouette fabrics.
Fabric-Covered Headrail
■ Lightly dust with a clean, dry cloth, vacuum using low suction, or spot clean with a damp
cloth and mild detergent.
Dusting
■ Regular light dusting with a feather duster is all the cleaning needed in most
circumstances.
Vacuuming
■ Use a hand-held vacuum with low suction for more thorough dust removal.
Compressed Air
■ Use compressed air to blow dust and dirt off shadings.
Spot Cleaning
■ We do not recommend spot cleaning any Pirouette fabrics.
Injection/Extraction
■ Select Pirouette fabrics may be cleaned using the Injection/Extraction method. For
recommendations on Injection/Extraction Professional Cleaners, please call Consumer
Support at [phone].

Ultrasonic Cleaning
■ We do not recommend Ultrasonic Cleaning for any Pirouette fabrics.
Electrostatic Cleaning
■ Do not use electrostatic cleaning devices on any Pirouette Window Shading.
A Note About Pirouette Fabric
As with all textiles, Pirouette fabrics are subject to some variations. Slight wrinkling,
puckering, or bowing is inherent to this textile product and should be considered normal,
acceptable quality. These characteristics are not usually visible from the front or rear but may
be visible from a side angle.
Precautions should be taken to reduce exposure to harsh environmental elements, such
as salt air. Continuous exposure through open windows and doors will accelerate the
fabric deterioration.
