DISCLAIMER
This Installation Instructions Pamphlet (‘the pamphlet’) is only a
guide to the set up and maintenance of your Timber Venetian Blinds
and Hunter Douglas Limited (‘HDL’) does not warrant the accuracy
of the information contained in the pamphlet. Each Installer of the
Timber Venetian Blinds must rely upon their own skill and expertise.

construction, material properties and working methods known to us
at the time of issue and is therefore subject to changes or
amendments at any time without notice and the right to change or
amend is hereby expressly reserved by HDL.
CORD TILT: Pulling on one of the single cords will tilt the slats
in one direction, and pulling the other cord will tilt the slats in
the opposite direction.
RAISING AND LOWERING OF THE BLIND:
Important:
Standard Blinds: whenever raising or lowering the blind, the
slats should be in the open position.
The cordlock has a locking device that holds the cords in place
when they hang vertically down. To raise or lower the blind, pull
the double cords towards the middle until you hear the
cordlock disengage. When the blind is at the desired height,
return the cord to the side of the blind to re-engage the
cordlock.
OPERATION
Be aware that it is possible for children to strangle in window
covering cords. To reduce the possibility of such an accident, all
cords must be kept out of the reach of children, including
infants. Cord cleats are an effective way to implement this
essential precaution.
Attach the cord cleats 153mm to 305mm apart at a height at
least 1600mm above floor level to prevent children from
unwinding the cord from the cleat. Take into account that a child
may stand on a baby cot or other furniture in an attempt to reach
the cords. Once the cleats are attached, simply wrap the excess
cord around them after each use of the shade, as shown.

CARE AND CLEANING
1.Dust can be easily brushed off at regular intervals using a
clean soft cloth, a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with
brush attachment.
2.To dust, tilt slats up and then down, (but not entirely closed),
to reach the top and bottom surfaces.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
Oiled Cedar
Oiled cedar blinds require re-oiling every 12 months, to
rejuvenate the appearance, and stop the timber drying out and
cracking.
We recommend Cabots Danish Oil (Cedar interior finish)
available from hardware stores. Follow the application
instructions on the tin. Take care not to oil string or fabric tapes
and cords.
Lacquered Cedar and Stained & Lacquered Basswood
Regular application of furniture polish applied with a soft cloth
is required. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions on the best
application method. Lemon Oil is also suitable to rejuvenate
the surface.
Polishes for high gloss timber are not suitable.
We recommend Spray Glow Furniture Polish from Mirotone.
It can be purchased from Mirotone on Ph (02) 9795 3700 or
Fax (02) 9771 3601.
WARNING: Do not allow water to come into contact with
the timber. Although the timber is coated, if water comes
into contact with the timber it can cause the slats to warp,
bow or twist, water stains to occur or the paint or lacquer
to peel. Do not use a damp cloth when cleaning. Damage
to the blind caused by water is not covered under the
warranty.
WOODMATES®Blinds, BEYOND WOODS®Blinds,
• Light dusting and/or use a vacuum cleaner with brush
attachment.
• Wipe with damp sponge or cloth.
• Fully washable. Do not immerse the headrail.

REVEAL FIT (INSIDE MOUNT)
First, measure the blind and mark on
the face or architrave where to attach
the two installation brackets.
NOTE: 5mm past each end of
headrail.
Attach the installation brackets to
the wall or architrave using 2 screws
(20mm x 6# Panhead), (25mm x 6#
Panhead for render fix). Position the
screws diagonally as shown above,
however not too close to the edge
of render to avoid break away.
As with face fit, measure the blind and
mark on the ceiling where to attach the
two installation brackets, noting this
should be 5mm past the end of the
headrail. With the front edges of
the brackets aligned, attach the
brackets to the top of the reveal or
ceiling with the screws supplied (20mm
x 6# Panhead), (25mm x 6# Panhead
for render fix).
FACE FIT (OUTSIDE MOUNT)
Attach the two installation brackets
inside the window frame, flush against
each side and the top of the window
frame. Align the front edges of the
installation brackets. Pack down if
necessary to ensure the brackets allow
level mounting of the headrail. Two
screws (20mm x 6# Panhead) are used
to attach each bracket. For the most
secure installation, fasten one screw to
the top and one screw to the side of the
frame as indicated.
CEILING FIT
CENTRE SUPPORT BRACKETS (CONT.)
Important: Avoid positioning support brackets in line with the
tape drums.
Blinds over 2900mm in height and multiple blinds on one headrail
over 2400mm require an additional support bracket to be positioned
200mm from the cordlock end of the headrail. Use 2 screws to
attach each support bracket, positioned diagonally wherever
possible. Ensure brackets are aligned with end mount brackets.
SUPPORT BRACKET

SPACE EVENLY
IF POSSIBLE,
SPACE EVENLY
Extension brackets can be used with
face fit (outside) to project the
brackets away from the mounting
surface to allow the blind to clear
obstructions, such as window
winders, locks etc.
Note: A full width piece of timber
may be the better option to
pack out blind, as it is more
stable than individual pieces
of timber.

Important: In the case of Timber Venetian Blinds, BEYOND
WOODS®Blinds and WOODMATES®Blinds, attach
the pelmet (valance) clips before installing the
headrail in reveal.
INSTALLING THE BLIND
Simply slip the headrail into the
end mount brackets and snap the
locking covers shut. After fitting
the headrail, attach the pelmet.
Note: If a centre support bracket
has been installed, a 12mm x 6#

Hold-down brackets are used to
keep the bottom of the blind from
swaying when mounted on doors or
exposed to the wind.
The hold-down brackets are inside
or outside mounted at the bottom
of the window opening. With the
blind fully lowered, place the
hold-down brackets onto the pins
on the end of the bottom rail and
mark mounting hole locations.
Attach hold-down brackets with
screws provided. With the bottom
rail attached to the hold-down
brackets, the slats may be opened
or closed. Disconnect the rail from
the brackets to raise and lower the
blind.

The installation brackets may be Reveal (inside the window frame)
or Face (outside the window frame) or ceiling (top) mounted. In all
cases, level mounting is critical to the operation of the blind (use
carpenter’s level). To open the end mount bracket press up on the
bottom side of the bracket to release the locking safety cover.
MOUNTING THE BRACKETS
IMPORTANT: Please read these instructions thoroughly
before installing.

CENTRE SUPPORT BRACKETS
Blinds over 1200mm wide and blinds
1000mm-1200mm wide and with a drop
greater than 2000mm must have
1 support bracket. Blinds over 1801mm
wide must have 2 support brackets and
blinds greater than 2200mm must have
3 support brackets. Space the support
brackets as evenly as possible between the
two end brackets. There should be no
more than 1200mm between any two
brackets.
Please be aware that blind cords or chains pose a strangulation
hazard for children. To reduce the risk of strangulation this
internal window covering must be installed in such a way
that a loose cord cannot form a loop 220 mm or longer at a
height of less than 1600mm above floor level.
Your blind is provided with a cord cleat. It is essential that
the following installation instructions are adhered to:
• If a cleat is used to secure the cord, it must be at least
1600mm above floor level to prevent children from
unwinding the cord from the cleat.
This pack includes the following child safety devices:
• Safety Cleat Pack – 26.228.000
• Hold Down Bracket & Pin Set– 26.185.XXX
NOTE:
• These safety devices MUST be installed and used.
• Ensure the bottomrail of your blind is secured into the hold
down bracket while the blind is in the down position.
