SAFETY
Before
connectingtheinstrumenttothepowersource,

fullyreadthe

information,thenverifythatthe
powercordandpowerlinefuseareonesforyourpowerline.
The
instrument'srearpanelhasa fuseholderonthe
left
of
theACinletterminal(thefuseholeralso
serves
asa vol-
tageselector).Thevalueunderthetriangle• markedon
theholderindicatesthelinevoltagesetfortheinstrument.
Ifthepowercordisnotapplied
with
thecorrectvoltage,
thereisa danger
from
electricshock.
Line
voltage
This
instrumentoperatesusingac-power
input
voltagesthat
100/120/220/240
V atfrequencies
from
50Hzto60Hz.
Power
cord
The
groundwireofthe3-wireacpowerplugplacesthe
chassis
andhousingoftheoscilloscopeatearthground.Do
notattempttodefeatthegroundwireconnectionorfloat
theoscilloscope;todosomayposea greatsafetyhazard.
The
appropriatepowercordissuppliedbyan
option
that
is
specifiedwhentheinstrumentisordered.

optionalpowercordsareshownasfollowsinFig.1.
Line
fuse
The
fuseholderislocatedontherearpanelandcontains
theline
fuse.
Verifythattheproperfuseisinstalledby
replacingtheline
fuse.

Alwaysusetheprobegroundclipsforbestresults.Do
notuseanexternalgroundwireinlieuoftheprobe
groundclips,asundesiredsignalsmaybeintroduced.
6.
Operationadjacenttoequipmentwhichproducesstrong
ac
magneticfieldsshouldbeavoidedwherepossible.
This
includessuchdevicesaslargepowersupplies,trans-
formers,
electricmotors,etc.,thatare
often
found
inan
industrialenvironment.Strongmagneticshieldscanex-
ceed
thepracticalCRTmagneticshieldinglimitsand
result
interferenceanddistortion.
7.
Probecompensationadjustmentmatchestheprobeto
the
input
ofthescope.Forbestresults,compensation
ofprobeshouldbeadjustedinitially,thenthesamepro-

always
used
with
the
input
ofscope.Probecompen-
sationshouldbereadjustedwhenevera probe
from
a
differentscopeis

Neverallowa smallspotofhighbrilliancetoremain

onlywhenthescopeissetupforX-Yoperationand
nosignalisapplied.Eitherreducetheintensitysothespot
is
barelyvisible,switchbacktonormalsweepoperation
when
nosignalisapplied,orsetupthescopeforspot
blanking.

Nevercovertheventilatingholesonthetopofthe

asthiswillincreasetheoperatingtemperature
inside
the
