1. OUTLINE AND FEATURES
Because the DCS-8200 hasa largecapacity memoryfor each channel, even atthe very low sampling time of
500s per division, continuous measurements ontwo channelssimultaneo usly canbe performed for11 hours.
980-divisionpre-triggeringthat utilizes the advantages ofthe largecapacity memoryand 10,000-division
post-triggering(delaytriggering) are possible.Also, the values are converted into time units and
displayed.
9 Ithasan Auto Set function in which a knob onthe panel isset automatically bya single button
operation.
9 With this machine alone, a program with asmanyas20 steps canbe executed, and full remote control
is possiblewith the GP-IB.
9 Video signals can also be storedwith memoryto spare, and with the largecapacity memory,the before
andafterrelations ofthe signals canbe analyzed over a wide range.
#The waveforms ofCHIandCH2canbe displayed asa direct waveform bythe 4-arithmetic operations
( + , -,x and -5-).Also, by saving theCHIandCH2 waveforms inthe reference memory,the
original waveform andthe calculated waveform canbe displayed onthe screen atthe same time.
9 Itis equipped with waveform processing functions such as averaging, envelope, sineinterpolation,
linear interpolation, etc.
9After the single sweep hold, there isa time stamp functionthat can record the sweep time.
9Besides, of course, data transmission, the GP-IB interface and RS-232C plotterinterface,that canbe
operated from the panel, are standard equipment.
9X-axis/Y-axis output that canbe used with your pen recorder is provided.
9 For very small portionsthat are difficult to observe with the digital oscilloscope, this instrument can
be used asa real-time ora programmable oscilloscope.
§ Because ofthe newly developed original gate array used inthe readout section and logicsection of
the A/D converter unit, the reliability is increased, and miniaturization is achieved.

3. PRECAUTIONS
1. Beforeusing this instrument,besureto check the power supplyvoltage.Onthe set's rearsurface,
onthe left sideoftheACinputterminal,thereisa fuseholderandvoltageswitch.Thevaluethatis
aligned nexttothe arrow ontheholderisthevoltage setting.
Changing thevoltagethatis used may cause troublewiththeinstrument,sopleasebe careful. After
this voltagehas been verified, connect the power cord.Ifthe power sourcevoltage changes, refer to
themaintenance items.

7.Donot insert items such aswires,pins,etc.,inthecase ventilation holesorrear panel fan
ventilation holes.
8. High voltagesareappliedtothe inside ofthe machine, so when thecaseistobe removed, refer to
the maintenance items.
9.Beforeusing this instrument,besureto connect the ground terminaltoanearth ground.
10. Because thereisa READOUT detectorterminalontheaccessory PC-33 probe, itcanbescratchedby
usingitwithotherinstruments,soavoid this.

11. The calendar and time displays were adjusted at the time of shipment, ifthere are errors at the time of
purchase, pleaseadjust them (Refer to maintenance and adjustment items).
12. The calendar, time and panel settings are backed upbyan internal battery, and when the battery life
nears the endof its life, a "Battery Down" display appears with the calendar and time display.Also,
therear panel settings cannot be maintained in the "Power Off" state, and the initial settings (see
below) are returnedto. In this case, the battery must be replaced, so pleasecontact the Kenwood
dealer from whom you purchased the instrument.

13.Please a 11ow about 5 seconds between turning the POWER switch onand off. Whenthe switch is turned
on and offsuccessively, the instrument maynot operateproperly.Also, dueto noise from outside,
inconsistencies may occur in panel settings, andin this case,turnoff the power switch, and turnit on
again after about 5 seconds. At this time, the settings will return to the initial settings ortothe
previouscorrect settings.

4. PANELEXPLANATION
® POWER M ON/1 OFF Switch
This isthepower switch. When itis pushedin, thepower supply ison,andwhenitis pushed again and
released, thepowerisoff.
® INTEN (REAL) Control
This is used to adjust the intensity ofthe trace line.
When itis turned clockwise, the brightnessincreases.
® INTEN (READOUT) Control
This is used to adjust the intensity ofthe readout. When itis turned clockwise the brightnessincreases,
and whenitis turned counterclockwise the readout is turned off, andthe characters disappear.
® FOCUS/PULL ASTIG Control
FOCUS : This isthe focus adjustment.
ASTIG : When theknobis pulled outward, the astigmatism ofthe trace orthe spot canbe adjusted. It
is used to adjust both the focus andthe waveform to their optimum appearance, andis adjusted
sothat the spot appearsround.

SCALE ILLUM : This is used to adjust the intensity ofthe scale ontheCRT. When the photograph
background light istoo intense,halationoccurs. In this case,adjust the intensity with
this knob.
TRACE ROTA : This is used to adjust the slope ofthe horizontaltrace line. Adjust this whenthe
trace line slants duetothe effect of groundmagnetism, etc.

This outputsa TVp-p,1kHz positive square wave for calibration. Beforeusinga probe, always
calibrate itusing this terminal.A probe thatisnotproperly calibrated wi11notprovidecorrect
measurements.

This istheinputterminalforanexternaltrigger signal.
Touseexternal trigger, setthe SOURCE switchtoEXTandapplytheexternaltriggersignalto this
terminal.
©CH1y POSITION Control
This is used toadjustthe vertical positionoftheCHI waveform shown ontheCRT.IntheX-Yoperation,
this controlsthepositionoftheY axis. Inthestorage mode RUN state (when the WRITE LED® is
lit), this theCHIDC OFFSET control, andcontrolstheDC level oftheinput signal. When itisturned

AUTO/NORM : When this switch is pressed, theLED lights andtheAUTO state is entered. Sweep canbe
performed with the trigger signal, but when there isno trigger signal, the sweep is
free-running, andthe bright line appears. When this switch is pressed again, the
NORMAL state is returned to. The sweep canbe performed with the trigger signal, but,
unlike theAUTO state, if there isno suitabletrigger signal, the trace line does not
appear.
