SAFETY
Beforeconnectingtheinstrumenttothepower
source,
carefullyreadthefollowinginformation,thenverify
that
thepowercordandpowerlinefuseareonesforyourpower
line.
The
instrument'srearpanelhasa fuseholderonthe
left
of
theACinletterminal(thefuseholeralso
serves
asa
voltageselector).Thevalueunderthetriangle• marked
ontheholderindicatesthelinevoltagesetfortheinstru-
ment.Ifthepowercordisnotapplied
with
thecorrect
voltage,thereisa danger
from
electric
shock.
Line
voltage
This
instrumentoperatesusingac-powerinputvoltages
that
100/120/220/240
V atfrequencies
from
50Hzto
60Hz.
Power
cord
The
groundwireofthe3-wireacpowerplugplacesthe
chassis
andhousingofthe
oscilloscope
atearthground.Do
not
attempt
todefeatthegroundwireconnectionor
float
the
oscilloscope;
todosomayposea greatsafetyhazard.
The
appropriatepowercordissuppliedbyanoption
that
is
specified
whentheinstrumentisordered.
The
optionalpowercordsareshownasfollowsinFig.1.
Line
fuse
The
fuseholderislocatedontherearpanelandcontains
thelinefuse.Verify
that
theproperfuseisinstalledby
replacing
thelinefuse.
5.Alwaysusetheprobeground
clips
forbestresults.Do
notuseanexternalgroundwireinlieuoftheprobe
ground
clips,
asundesiredsignalsmaybeintroduced.
6.Operationadjacenttoequipmentwhichproducesstrong
ac
magneticfieldsshouldbeavoidedwherepossible.
This
includes
such
devicesaslargepowersupplies,
transformers,
electricmotors,etc.,
that
are
often
found
inanindustrialenvironment.Strongmagneticshields
can
exceedthepracticalCRTmagneticshieldinglimits
andresultinterferenceanddistortion.
7.Probecompensationadjustmentmatchestheprobeto
theinputofthe
scope.
Forbestresults,compensation
ofprobeshouldbeadjustedinitially,thenthesamepro-
bealwaysused
with
theinputof
scope.
Probecompen-
sation
shouldbereadjustedwhenevera probe
from
a
different
scope
is
used.
