Save these instructions - this manual
contains important safety and operating
instructions for battery charger models
KAC840.
DANGER – to reduce the risk of re or electrical
shock, carefully follow these instructions.
Before using the battery charger, read all instructions
and cautionary markings on the battery charger,
battery, and the product using the battery.
WARNING: This product can expose you
to chemicals including lead and Di(2-
ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) which are known to
the State of California to cause cancer and birth
defects or other reproductive harm. For more
information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
WARNING:
1. WARNING–To reduce the risk of re and electric
shock, disconnect the charger from the mains
electrical supply when not in use.
2. CAUTION–To reduce the risk of re and
electrical shock, remove battery charger from the
receptacle when not in use.
3. WARNING –To Avoid Electric Shock –Do not
touch exposed live terminals or connected
parts.
4. CAUTION–For continued protection against risk
of re, replace only with the same type and rating
of fuse.
5. CAUTION–To reduce the risk of re, use only on
circuits with 15A 120V branch-circuit protection
in accordance with the National Electrical Code,
ANSI/NFPA 70.
6. CAUTION–Disconnect power supply before
changing fuse.
7. CAUTION–To reduce the risk of injury, charge
only KAC802, KAC804, KAC810, KA3001 and
KA3008 Kress 60V Batteries type rechargeable
batteries. Other types of batteries may burst
causing personal injury and damage.

CHARGING PROCEDURE
NOTE: Before using the charger, read the
instruction book carefully.
WARNING -Considering the current
capacity, please use the dedicated line to
avoid overload of power supply.
CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Charging your battery pack
This charger is designed for battery pack charging.
WARNING: The charger and battery pack are
specifically designed to work together so do
not attempt to use any other devices. Never
insert or allow metallic objects into your charger or
battery pack connections because an electrical
failure and hazard will occur.
2. Before using your cordless tool
Your battery pack is partly charged and needs to be
fully charged before first use.
3. How to charge your battery procedure
1) Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet.
2) When inserting the one battery pack into the
charging port the indicator light flashes green.
This indicates the battery is charging. When
charging two batteries this KAC840 charges the
batteries in sequence.
NOTE: Port 1 is available for Robotic charging.
CHARGING INDICATOR
This charger is a ''smart charger'' that is designed to
provide you information on the status of your battery
charge. Indicator lights in the table below will show
the charging status.
If you receive a defective charge indicator light (red
on), insert a new battery to determine if the charger
is OK. If the new battery charges correctly, then the
original pack is defective and should be returned to
an authorize Kress Dealer. If the new battery pack
displays the same problem as the original Battery
Pack, have the charger tested at an authorized
service center.

Protection
BATTERY TEMPERATURE PROTECTION
This charger has a battery temperature protection
feature. When the charger detects a battery pack that
is too hot (the light will flash red), its internal fan will
rapidly cool the battery to the correct temperature.
When the charger detects a battery pack that is too
cold (the light will flash red), it automatically activates
the protection circuit, and suspends charging until
the battery pack has reached the correct temperature
. The charging process will then automatically begin
(the light will flash green). This feature ensures
maximum battery life.
LEAVING THE BATTERY PACK IN THE
CHARGER
If a fully charged battery pack is left in the charger,
the battery pack will enter a sleep low power mode.
IMPORTANT CHARGING NOTES:
1. For long-term storage, please keep the
battery pack at 40%~60% state of charge. It
is suggested to check the battery power level
regularly. During long term storage, battery should
be charged and discharged every 3 months.
2. Never freeze your charger or immerse charger in
water or any other liquid.
3. When the battery pack fails to produce sufficient
power on jobs that were previously done easily,
please recharge your battery, do not continue to
use under this condition.
You may charge a partially used pack whenever
you desire with no adverse affect on the battery
pack.
