also be respected.
2. Advice is indicated on the machine, specifying safety recommendations in order to prevent accidents.
3. When travelling on public roads, the operator must respect all road traffic regulations.
4. Before starting work, the operator must be familiar with all machine controls, handling devices and their
functions. nce at work, it is too late to do so!
5. Do not wear loose clothing which could become caught up in moving elements.
6. Use a tractor equipped with a safety cab. Keep windows and roof hatch closed for reduced sound level while
operating the PT driven implement.
7. Before starting up the machine and beginning work, check the surrounding area (beware of children!). Make sure
there is sufficient visibility.
Keep all people and animals away from the danger zone of the machine (risk of projection!).
8. Carrying people or animals on the machine when working or in transport is strictly forbidden.
9. Machine must only be attached to tractor using means provided and in accordance with current safety
standards.
10. When attaching or removing the machine, place the parking stand into the corresponding position.

During the first few hours of work, make frequent checks of tine nut and
bolt tightness. If necessary, retighten to 16 daNm (120 ft.lbs) to avoid
the possibility of loss or breakage.
7) Safety guards
The safety guards protect against acci-
dents and therefore ensure maximum
machine safety.
On the GF 5000 T, the front safety
guards (25) are fitted to the drawbar
(26) with 2 hexagon screws (27) (M 8 x
45) and 2 self-locking nuts (M 8) (photo
A). Tighten to a torque of 3 daNm (22
ft.lbs).
On the GF 5000 M, support (2) of front
safety guards (3) is fitted to the
connecting frame using 2 hexagonal bolts
(1) (M 10 x 30) and 2 self-locking nuts
(4) (M 10) (fig. B) (torque : 8 daNm -
59 ft/lbs). Then fit 2 front safety
guards (3) onto support (2) by means of
4 hexagonal bolts (18) (M 8 x 45) and 4
self-locking nuts (17) (M 8) (fig. B)
(torque : 3 daNm - 22 ft/lbs).
The side guards (11 and 12) are fitted to the outer rotor housings using 2 hexagon
screws (16) (M 12 x 25) and 2 conical spring washers (14) (M 12). They are also fitted
to the flanges of the outer tubes using the 2 self-locking hexagonal bolts (15) (M
12 x 40) (fig. C). Tighten the screws (16 and 15) to a torque of 10 daNm / 75 ft/
lbs) (photo 7).

ATTACHMENT
ATTACHMENT TO THE TRACTOR
1. GF 5000 M
The GF 5000 M Gyrotedder can be fitted to all tractors equipped with a 3-point
linkage. The lower link pins are 22 mm diameter and 28 mm diameter for tractors
with Cat. 1 and 2 linkage. The lower link pins (O) should be attached to the
tractor link arms (P) inside the 3-point frame for Cat.1 tractors and on the
outside for Cat. 2 tractors. In the latter case, use the 25 mm diameter link
pins to attach tractor top link (Q) to the pivoting top link (B) (photo 10).
Attachment should be undertaken with the pivoting top link (B) unlocked (lever
V in the lower position, photo 11).
The pivoting top link has three attachment positions to suit varying tractor
top link lengths.

- 14 -
2. GF 5000 T
The GF 5000 T gyrotedder can be
fitted to all types of tractors,
preferably those with a pull bar.
Attachment is facilitated when the
machine is resting on its parking
stand (A). Fold up parking stand (A)
and lock in place with the clip (G)
(photo 12).
When attaching the machine
to a tractor equipped with
a multi-hole attachment bar
on the 3-point linkage, make
sure the tractor lower links
are locked in a fixed posi-
tion preventing them from
moving upwards.
PTO SHAFT
Connect the PTO shaft (with the safety clutch fitted on the machine side)
(photos 10 and 12).
Make sure PTO length is correct :
1)When the PTO is in its maximum extended position, a minimum tube overlap of
300 mm (12") must be maintained.
2)When the PTO is in its maximum overlap position (retracted), tubes should
not butt against the yokes. As a safety measure a clearance of at least 2
cm (0.8") must be maintained. If this is not the case, shorten the two
transmission tubes and the two guard tubes by the same length (photos 13 and
14). Bevel and clean the tubes (photo 15) and grease the inside of the outer
tube (photo 16).

- 15 -
3)Never operate the PTO at too great an angle (30° maximum)
These recommendations and adjustments must be respected to avoid
damage or premature wear of the PTO.
Never connect the PTO to the 1000 rpm
(min-1 )
tractor drive.
To avoid accidents which could be serious, make sure that the guards
are always correctly in place and secured with the safety chain
(photos 10 and 12). Damaged guards should be replaced immediately.

-First time over : when the crop has a high moisture content, the speed is
approximately 7-8 km/hr (4 1/2 - 5 mph)
-Second time over : the speed can reach 10-12 km/hr (6 1/2 - 7 mph) according to
the moisture content.
It is difficult to give accurate recommendations concerning operating speeds as these
must be chosen in accordance with the crop being worked. However, as a general rule,
if the crop is dry, rotor speed
(rotational frequency)
should be reduced. When the
crop is very long, heavy and wet, the forward speed should be reduced. In difficult
conditions such as these, it is generally adviseable to lower the forward speed and
increase the PTO speed
(rotational frequency)
.
TRANSPORT POSITION
1. GF 5000 M
- Disconnect the tractor PTO shaft.
- Lower the machine to the ground.
- Release lock (X) (photo 17) and fold
back the outer rotors until the locks
automatically reengage in the trans-
port position.
- Lift the machine and lock the pivoting
frame (B) by lifting lock (V) (photo
24).
Never engage the PTO shaft when the machine is in the transport position.
NOTE : Before moving the GF 5000 M when having been parked in the transport
position, unlock the outer wheels to allow them to pivot.
2. GF 5000 T
- Disconnect the tractor PTO shaft.
- In order to fold the machine correctly,
position the rotors horizontally using
crank handle (M) (photo 22).
- Release locks (X) (photo 17) and fold
back outer rotors until the locks
automatically reengage in transport
position.
- Lock outer rotor wheels (R) in posi-
tion holes (Y or Z, photo 21) so that
the levers (F) point forwards (looking
in the direction of travel) (photo
25). The central wheel lever (F)
should point towards the rear (looking
in the direction of travel) (photo
25).
