MASCOT 9541 User manual

Type 9541, 24V. Dok.nr. 0238A. Art.nr. 17969. 16.09.97
Produsent: MASCOT ELECTRONIC A/S - Norge.
English
* Read these instructions before using the charger.
* Do not expose the charger to rain.
* Do not cover the charger while in use, as this will cause overheating.
* This charger is designed for use with 24V lead-acid batteries; 12 cells, 100Ah - 1000Ah.
* Do not use this charger with any other type of battery.
* During charging the battery must be in a well-ventilated position.
CHARGINGINSTRUCTIONS
1. Check the electrolyte in the battery. If necessary, top up with distilled water to 5-10 mm above the plates.
2. Connect the charger to the battery before connecting the charger to the mains. (Connecting the charger to the
mains first could cause sparks and ignite flammable gases.)
3. Carefully check the polarity of the terminals. Connect the correct charger lead to the battery terminal which is
not connected to the chassis of the vehicle.
4. The other charger lead should be connected to the chassis of the vehicle at a point well away from the battery
and from any petrol pipes or other points of fire risk.
5. Connect the charger to the mains electricity supply.
6. Whenchargingiscomplete,firstdisconnectthechargerfromthemains.Thendisconnecttheleadfromthechassis,
and finally disconnect the lead from the battery. It is important to disconnect the leads in the correct order.
WARNING
Battery acid is very corrosive. If acid is spilled on clothing, wash off immediately with cold running water.
If acid comes into contact with skin or eyes, wash immediately in plenty of cold running water, and contact
a doctor if necessary.
9541consists of two 24V 10A chargers.
Each 24V 10A charger has an internal T 4AH fuse which will blow if a fault occurs in the charger. If a fault occurs
it must be repaired by a qualified service engineer.
Each 24V 10A charger also has a 15A fuse. This will cut off the unit if the polarity is reversed when connecting the
battery. These fuses can be found at the front of the charger. When replacing a fuse, always use the same type
and rating value.
Automatic charge control:
Withquickchargethechargerissupplying20Ainaconstantcurrentmodetoabatteryoranyotherload.Ascharging
progressesthebatteryvoltageincreases.Whenthebatteryvoltagereaches30V(at20oC)thebatteryisfullycharged
and the charger automatically switches to float (trickle) charging.
With float charge the charging voltage is 27.6V (at 20oC). Operation in the constant voltage mode at this voltage
ensures that the battery is always fully charged, compensating for self-discharge.
When the charge voltage is 27.6V (at 20oC), gassing will not occur and it is not possible to overcharge the battery.
During float charging a load of up to 20A may be connected to the battery and will be powered by the charger. The
battery itself will not be loaded.
Ifthe loadis greaterthan 20A,current willbe drawnfrom thebattery, causingthe batteryvoltage tofall. Thecharger
willthenrevert to thequick chargemode untiltheloadisremoved orreduced tobelow 20A,when thebattery voltage
rises to the fully charged level.
Temperaturecompensation:
Thechargestateofthebatteryisdeterminedbythebatteryterminalvoltage.Thisvoltageistemperaturedependent.
For correct charging, therefore, the float voltage must also be temperature dependent. The 9541 charge voltage is
temperature compensated, so that cut-off of the quick charge mode and correct voltage in the float charge mode
are always guaranteed. (The temperature coefficient is -3 to -4 mV/oC per cell)
NOTE: Old, sulphated batteries usually have a reduced capacity and are difficult to charge. The charge current
will fall quickly, giving the impression that the battery has received a full charge. A battery in this condition
will retain a small charge, but should be replaced.

* Les bruksanvisningen før lading påbegynnes.
* Utsett ikke laderen for regn.
* Dekk ikke til laderen under bruk.
* Laderen er beregnet for 24V blybatteri, 12 celler, 100Ah - 1000Ah.
Laderen må ikke brukes på andre typer batterier.
* Batteriet må plasseres på et sted med god ventilasjon mens lading pågår.
LADINGAVBILBATTERIER:
1. Sjekk batteriets væskenivå (ca. 5 - 10mm over polplatene).

Dermed blir batteriet

man allikevel for en stund få en viss opplading.
