Important Safety Instructions
This document contains important safety and operating
instructions. Please read these instructions carefully and save
them for future reference.
Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and
cautionary markings on the charger, battery, and radio using the
battery.
1.To reduce risk of injury, charge only the
rechargeable Motorola Solutions Authorized
Batteries. Other batteries may explode, causing
personal injury and damage.
2.Use of accessories not recommended by Motorola
Solutions may result in risk of fire, electric shock, or
injury.
3. To reduce risk of damage to the power supply electric plugs
and cords, pull the plug rather than the cord when
disconnecting from the AC outlet or the charger.
4. An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely
necessary. Use of an improper extension cord could result in
risk of fire and electric shock. If an extension cord must be
used, make sure that the cord size is 18 AWG for lengths of up
to 6.5 ft. (2.0 m), and 16 AWG for lengths up to 9.8 ft. (3.0 m).
5. To reduce risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, do not operate
the charger if it has been broken or damaged in any way.
6. Do not disassemble the charger. It is not repairable and
replacement parts are not available. Disassembly of the
charger may result in risk of electric shock or fire.
7. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug the charger power
supply from the AC outlet before attempting any maintenance
or cleaning.
8. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance
with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to
radio communications.

9. Operation of this equipment in a residential area has potential
to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be
required to correct the interference at their own expense.
10. This is a Class A product. In a domestic environment, this
product may cause radio interference in which case the user
may be required to take adequate measures.
Operational Safety Guidelines
• This equipment is not suitable for outdoor use. Use only in dry
locations and conditions.
• Connect the power cord only to an appropriately fused and
wired AC outlet with the correct voltage, as specified on the
product.
• The AC outlet to which the power supply is connected should
be close and easily accessible.
• Make sure the power supply cord to the charger is located
where it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to
water, damage, or stress.
• Disconnect from line voltage by removing the power cord from
the AC outlet.
• Turn the radio off when charging the battery.
• Use only Motorola Solutions authorized adapter. Do not
connect an improper AC Adapter.
• The charger and/or AC Adapter will generate a moderate
amount of heat during the charging process. This is a normal
condition.
• The charger is designed for charging only and is not designed
for operation (transmit or receive) of the radio.
• The presence of nearby RF transmission can cause the LED
of the charger to inadvertently flash or change color. This
does not impact the charging process of the docked radios
and/or batteries (also exhibited at empty slots), and will cease
once the RF signal is no longer detected.
• If the LED indicator of the radio blinks red, reinsert the radio. If
the LED continues blinking red, the battery is faulty. Replace a
new battery for the radio.

• Periodically wipe the charging terminals in the nest of the
charger using a dry cloth to ensure good connections
between the charger and battery pack.
• Do not allow any metal objects to short the terminals in the
nest of the charger or the battery, as a short-circuit can cause
overheating of the charger circuitry, creating electrical hazard.
Introductions
The AAM36X501 Multi-Unit Charger (MUC) is used to charge the
FNB-V142LI battery. It can charge up to six radios and/or stand-
alone batteries (in any combination).

Installing the Charger
When installing the charger to the wall, make sure to plan the
installation carefully.
• Leave additional space on top of the charger to attach and
detach the radio.
• The wall must be more 0.7 in. (18 mm) thick and can support
more than 8.8 lbs (4 kg).
• When installing the charger to a drywall, ensure that you use
wood reinforcement at the back of the charger. We
recommend installing the charger on the wooden board of any
size, with a thickness 0.7 in. (18 mm) or more, and attaching
this wooden board to the drywall.
1. Attach the mount jigs to the mounting holes at the back panel
of the charger.

2. Mark the position of the mounting screws into the wall by
pressing the charger with mount jigs against the wall. Remove
the mount jigs from the charger.

3. Use a small bit (1.5 mm, #53) to drill holes at the marked
positions.
4. Install the screws to each hole. Use the mount jig as a gap
gauge to leave a distance the size of the mount jig, between
the screw head and the wall.

5. Align the self-tapping screws with the mounting holes of the
charger, then push down the charger until it locks in place.

6. Fix the anti-drop plate to the charger, then secure the plate
with the supplied screws.

Operating Instructions
1. Insert the AC Power Cord into the AC Inlet Socket at the back
of the charger.

2. Plug the power supply power cord into a matching power
outlet.
3. Insert the radio with battery or stand-alone battery into an
available pocket.
Note: Grip the radio body when inserting, or removing the radio
from the charger. Avoid pulling the radio antenna when
removing the radio.

4. When the radio or stand-alone battery is properly seated in
the pocket, the LED Indicator glows red:
• Charging status of a radio is indicated by the LED Indicator
of the radio. When charging is completed, the LED turns
off.
• Charging status of a stand-alone battery is indicated by the
LED Indicator of the associated pocket on the charger.
When charging is completed, the LED turns to green.
5. Remove the radio or stand-alone battery.

Pautas de seguridad operativa

• El cargador está diseñado solo para cargar y no está diseñado
para el funcionamiento (transmisión o recepción) del radio.
• La presencia de transmisión de RF cercana puede provocar
que el LED del cargador parpadee de manera involuntaria o

• Si el indicador LED del radio parpadea en rojo, vuelva a
insertar el radio. Si el indicador LED sigue parpadeando en
rojo, la batería presenta fallas. Reemplace la batería del radio
por una nueva.
• Cada cierto tiempo, limpie los terminales de carga situados
en la cavidad del cargador con un paño seco para garantizar
una buena conexión entre el cargador y la batería.
• No permita que un objeto de metal provoque un cortocircuito
en los terminales situados en la cavidad del cargador o la
batería, puesto que un cortocircuito puede causar un
sobrecalentamiento en los circuitos del cargador y generar
riesgo de descarga eléctrica.

Instalación del cargador
Cuando instale el cargador en la pared, asegúrese de planificar
cuidadosamente la instalación.
• Deje espacio adicional en la parte superior del cargador para
conectar y desconectar el radio.
• La pared debe tener más de 18 mm (0,7") de espesor y debe
poder resistir más de 4 kg (8,8 lb) de peso.

2. Para marcar la posición de los tornillos de montaje en la pared,
presione el cargador con posicionadores de montaje contra la
pared. Retire los posicionadores de montaje del cargador.

3. Utilice una broca pequeña (1,5 mm, número 53) para taladrar
orificios en las posiciones marcadas.
4. Instale los tornillos en cada orificio. Utilice el posicionador de
montaje como un indicador de espacios para dejar una
distancia del tamaño del posicionador de montaje entre la
cabeza del tornillo y la pared.

4. Cuando el radio o la batería independiente se colocan en
forma correcta en la cavidad, el indicador LED brilla en rojo:
• El estado de carga de un radio se indica mediante el
indicador LED del radio. Cuando se complete la carga, el
LED se apaga.
• El estado de carga de una batería independiente se indica
mediante el indicador LED de la cavidad asociada en el
cargador. Cuando la carga finaliza, el LED se enciende en
verde.
