Foreword
Important Safety Instructions
This document contains important safety and operating instructions. Please read these instructions
carefully and save them for future reference.
Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and cautionary markings on the charger, the
battery, and the radio using the battery.
WARNING:
• To reduce the risk of damage to the power cord, pull the plug rather than the cord when
disconnecting power cord from the AC outlet or the charger.
• To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, avoid using an extension cord. If an extension cord must
be used, ensure that the cord size is 18 AWG for lengths of up to 6.5 feet (2 m), and 16 AWG for
lengths up to 9.8 feet (3 m).
• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, do not operate the charger if it is broken or
damaged in any way. Take it to a qualified Motorola Solutions service representative.
• To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not disassemble the charger. It is not repairable and
replacement parts are not available.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, unplug the charger power adapter from the AC outlet before
attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
• To reduce the risk of injury, charge only the rechargeable authorized batteries. Other batteries may
explode, causing personal injury and damage.
• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, only use the accessories recommended by
Motorola Solutions.
• Changes or modifications made to this device, not expressly approved by Motorola Solutions, could
void the authority of the user to operate this equipment.
Class B Digital Device
NOTE: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital
device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates,
uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with
the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is
no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does
cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning
the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or
more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is
connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

Operating Guidelines
The followings are the operating guidelines for the charger.
• This equipment is not suitable for outdoor use. Use only in dry locations and conditions.
• Maximum ambient temperature around the charger must not exceed 40 °C (104 °F).
• To ensure optimized charging performance, turn off the radio while charging unless the radio is
transmitting data wirelessly on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
• Connect the charger to an AC outlet using only a Motorola Solutions Authorized Power Supply. See
Motorola Solutions Authorized Power Supplies on page 12.
• The AC outlet to which the power supply is connected must be nearby and easily accessible.
• Ensure that the power supply cord connected to the charger is not easily stepped on, tripped over,
or subjected to water, damage, or stress.
• Connect the power supply only to an appropriately fused and wired AC outlet with the correct
voltage, as specified on the product.
• Disconnect from the line voltage by removing the power supply from the AC outlet.
• Connect not more than the appropriate number of charger power supplies to a 15 A and 20 A
circuit, as limited by any certified power strip used.
• The equipment shall be connected to a nearby and easily accessible socket outlet.

Chapter 1
IMPRES Batteries and Chargers
The IMPRES™ energy solution is an advanced energy system developed by Motorola Solutions.
The system includes the followings:
• IMPRES battery
• IMPRES adaptive charger
Charger Specification
• Input: 14 V 1 A
Features and Benefits
Charging IMPRES batteries using an IMPRES Adaptive Charger, which periodically calibrates and
reconditions the battery, yields the following benefits:
• Maximize the battery life by significantly reducing heat during the trickle and post-charge cycles.
• Determines the current battery status and giving an indication of the effective use time.
• Provide higher-rate IMPRES Lithium-Ion battery charging.
• Automatically performs calibration and reconditioning when needed.
• Minimizes the IMPRES battery heating, regardless of how long the battery is left in the charger
pocket.
• Periodically charges a battery stored in the charger to maintain a high state of readiness.
• Eliminates Nickel battery memory effect, eliminating the need to purchase special equipment, or
train personnel in tasks to maintain battery life cycle.
Using this unique patented system, there is no requirement to track and record IMPRES battery,
conduct manual calibration and reconditioning, or remove batteries from chargers after charging
completion.
1.1
Charging Radios and Batteries
The IMPRES Adaptive Charger System is a fully automated system. The charger pockets
accommodate either a radio with an attached Motorola Solutions-approved battery, or a Motorola
Solutions-approved battery alone. Batteries charge best at room temperature.
Prerequisites:
NOTE: To ensure optimized charging performance, turn off the radio while charging unless the
radio is transmitting data wirelessly on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Procedure:
1Plug the charger end of the power supply cord into the DC inlet (1) at the back of the charger.

2Plug the wall power adapter into the appropriate Alternating Current (AC) outlet.
A successful power-up sequence is indicated by a single green blink on the charger indicator.
Refer to the IMPRES Battery Charging Indicators on page 9.
3Insert a Motorola Solutions-approved battery, or a radio with a Motorola Solutions-approved
battery into the charger pocket.
aAlign the battery contacts with the charger contacts.
bPress the battery into the pocket, ensuring complete contact.
Once the Motorola Solutions-approved battery is properly seated into the pocket, the charger
indicator illuminates, indicating the charger has recognized the presence of the battery.
4To remove a radio or Motorola Solutions-approved battery from the charger, pull straight up until
the battery completely clears the charger housing.

IMPRES Battery Charging Indicators

1.3
IMPRES Battery Initialization
For a full IMPRES functionality, a new IMPRES battery must be initialized by the charger.
The charger automatically detects the new IMPRES battery, and automatically starts initialization.
1.4
IMPRES Pocket Record
When charging the IMPRES batteries, the IMPRES charger records charging information in the battery
memory.
Charging can resume if you remove the IMPRES battery from the IMPRES charger pocket and within
30 minutes, insert it into the same charger pocket.
1.5
Automatic IMPRES Calibration and Reconditioning
IMPRES batteries with the Self-Calibration and Recondition icon on the battery
label does not require calibration and recondition. If the battery is not fully charg-
ed, the IMPRES battery starts charging when docked in the charger. The LED
indicates steady Red when charging and steady Green when charging is comple-
ted.
1.5.1
IMPRES 2 End of Service Life LED Indication
As batteries are used, normal wear reduces available capacity. At the successful completion of
calibration and reconditioning, IMPRES 2 chargers compare IMPRES 2 battery capacity to the battery
Rated Capacity.
When the capacity is at a very low value, the IMPRES 2 battery may be nearing its End of Service.

1.5.2
Initiating Calibration and Recondition Manually
Although calibration or recondition is automatic, you may be required to manually initiate calibration or
recondition in certain situations.
Procedure:
1Insert the battery into the charger pocket.
2Remove the battery from the charger pocket.
3Reinsert the battery into the charger pocket within 5 seconds.
Calibration and recondition starts immediately, beginning with battery discharge indicated by
a steady amber LED status. Calibration and recondition are complete only after a full charge
indicated by a steady green LED status. See IMPRES Battery Charging Indicators on page 9.
NOTE: This process can take up to 12 hours or more to complete, depending on the
charging status and battery capacity. Interruption of either the discharge phase or the full
charge phase delays calibration until the next charging opportunity.
1.5.3
Terminating Calibration and Recondition Manually
You can manually terminate calibration and recondition during the process.
Procedure:
1Remove the battery from the charger pocket.
2Reinsert the battery into the charger pocket within 5 seconds.
Battery calibration and recondition immediately terminate. Normal battery charging starts. The LED
indicates charge status.

Service
The IMPRES Adaptive Chargers are not repairable. Order replacement chargers as necessary from
your local Motorola Solutions Sales Representative.

• Pour réduire les risques d’endommager le cordon d’alimentation, tirez sur la prise et non sur le
cordon au moment de le débrancher de la prise c.a. ou du chargeur.
• Pour réduire les risques d’incendie ou de décharge électrique, évitez d’utiliser une rallonge
électrique. Si une rallonge doit être utilisée, assurez-vous que le format du cordon est de calibre 18
lorsque sa longueur est de 2 m (6,5 pi) ou moins et de calibre 16 lorsque sa longueur est de 3 m
(9,8 pi).
• Pour réduire les risques d’incendie, de décharge électrique ou de blessure, n’utilisez pas le
chargeur s’il est brisé ou endommagé de quelque manière que ce soit. Portez-le chez un
représentant de service Motorola Solutions.
• Pour réduire les risques d’incendie ou de décharge électrique, ne démontez pas le chargeur. Il ne
peut pas être réparé et aucune pièce de rechange n’est disponible.
• Pour réduire les risques de décharge électrique, débranchez l’adaptateur d’alimentation du
chargeur de la prise c.a. avant de procéder à une maintenance ou à un nettoyage.
• Pour réduire les risques de blessure, ne chargez que les batteries rechargeables agréées. Les
batteries non approuvées pourraient exploser et causer des blessures corporelles et d’autres
dommages.
• Pour réduire les risques d’incendie, de décharge électrique ou de blessure, n’utilisez que les
accessoires recommandés par Motorola Solutions.

Appareil numérique de classe B
REMARQUE :
Cet équipement a fait l’objet de tests et a été déclaré conforme aux limites établies pour un
appareil numérique de classe B, conformément à la section 15 des règlements de la FCC.
Ces limites sont fixées afin d’offrir une protection suffisante contre des interférences nuisibles
dans une installation résidentielle. Cet équipement génère, utilise et peut émettre de l’énergie
de radiofréquence et, s’il n’est pas installé ou utilisé conformément aux instructions, il peut
provoquer un brouillage nuisible aux communications radio. Cependant, il est impossible de
garantir qu’il n’y aura aucune interférence dans une installation particulière. Si cet appareil
cause une interférence nuisible à la réception de la radio ou de la télévision, ce qui peut être
déterminé en éteignant et en allumant l’appareil, vous êtes encouragé à remédier à la situation
en prenant une ou plusieurs des mesures suivantes :
• Réorienter ou déplacer l’antenne réceptrice.
• Augmenter la distance entre l’équipement et le récepteur.
• Brancher l’appareil dans une autre prise sur un circuit différent de celui du récepteur.

Directives d’utilisation
Voici les directives d’utilisation du chargeur.
• Cet équipement n’est pas conçu pour une utilisation à l’extérieur. Ne l’utilisez que dans des
emplacements secs et sous des conditions sans risque d’humidité.
• La température ambiante maximale autour du chargeur ne doit pas dépasser 40 °C (104 °F).
• Pour une performance de chargement optimale, éteignez la radio pendant la recharge, à moins que
la radio ne transmette des données sans fil par Wi-Fi ou Bluetooth.
• Branchez le chargeur à une prise c.a. uniquement à l’aide d’un bloc d’alimentation agréé par
Motorola Solutions. Voir Blocs d’alimentation approuvés par Motorola Solutions à la page 12 .
• La prise de courant à laquelle le bloc d’alimentation est branché doit se trouver à proximité et être
facilement accessible.
• Assurez-vous que le cordon du bloc d’alimentation est placé à un endroit où il ne sera pas écrasé,
ne gênera pas le passage, ne sera pas tendu de façon anormale et ne sera pas exposé à une
source d’humidité.
• Ne branchez le bloc d’alimentation qu’à une prise c.a. à fusible câblée appropriée, de tension
prescrite telle que spécifiée sur le produit.
• Débranchez le chargeur de la tension de secteur en retirant le cordon d’alimentation de la prise de
courant c.a.
• Ne branchez pas plus de blocs d’alimentation de chargeur que le nombre approprié à un circuit de
15 A et 20 A, tel que limité par toute barre d’alimentation certifiée utilisée.
• L’équipement doit être branché à une prise de courant à proximité et facilement accessible.
