This document contains important safety and
operating instructions. Please read these
instructions carefully and save them for future
reference.
Before using the battery charger, read all the
instructions and cautionary markings on (1) the
charger, (2) the battery, and (3) the radio using
the battery.
1. To reduce risk of injury during
sudden braking or impact while
driving, secure the Travel Charger
and radio in the mounted bracket
with the elastic strap securely
fastened.
2. To reduce risk of injury, charge only the
rechargeable Motorola Solutions authorized
batteries listed in Table 1. Other batteries may
explode, causing personal injury and damage.
3. Use of accessories not recommended by
Motorola Solutions may result in risk of fire,
electric shock, or injury.

4. To reduce the risk of damage to
the electric plug and cord, pull by
the plug rather than by the cord
when disconnecting the charger.
5. To reduce risk of fire, electric shock, or injury,
do not operate the charger if it has been broken
or damaged in any way. Take it to a qualified
Motorola Solutions service representative.
6. Do not disassemble the charger; it is not
repairable and replacement parts are not
available. Disassembly of the charger may
result in risk of electrical shock or fire.
7. This is a Class A product. In a domestic
environment, this product may cause radio
interference in which case the user may be
required to take adequate measures.

OPERATIONAL SAFETY GUIDELINES
• To ensure optimized charging performance,
turn off the radio while charging unless the
radio is transmitting data wirelessly on Wi-Fi or
Bluetooth.
• This equipment is not suitable for outdoor use.
Use only in dry locations/conditions.
• Connect equipment only to an appropriately
fused and wired supply of the correct voltage
(as specified on the product).
• When not in use, disconnect the power supply
cord from the DC outlet.
• The socket outlet to which this equipment is
connected should be close by and easily
accessible.
• In equipment using fuses, replacements must
comply with the type and rating specified in the
equipment instructions.
• When used as a desktop charger, maximum
ambient temperature around the power supply
equipment must not exceed 40 °C (104 °F).
• Output power from the power supply unit must
not exceed the ratings stated on the product
label located on the bottom of the charger.

• Make sure the cord is located where it cannot
be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to
water, damage, or stress.
• To reduce risk of damage to vehicular charger
adapter and cord, pull by the vehicular charger
adapter rather than the cord when disconnect-
ing the charger.
• Do not operate the charger or vehicular
charger adapter with a damaged cord –
replace it immediately.
Vehicles Equipped with Air Bags
• Do not place or install equipment in
the area over an air bag or in the
air bag deployment area. Air bags
inflate with great force. If
equipment is installed in the air
bag deployment area and the air
bag inflates, the equipment may be
propelled with great force and
cause serious injury to occupants
of the vehicle.
• If the communication equipment is improperly
installed and the air bag inflates, this could
cause serious injury.

• Installation of vehicle communication
equipment should be performed by a
professional installer/technician qualified in the
requirements for such installations. An air bag
size, shape and deployment area can vary by
vehicle make, model and front compartment
configuration for example bench seat as
opposed to bucket seats.
• Contact the vehicle manufacturer’s corporate
headquarters, if necessary, for specific air bag
information for the vehicle make, model and
front compartment configuration involved in
your communication equipment installation.
• Mounting screws can damage cables and
wires that run under some mounting surfaces
in the vehicle. Contact the vehicle
manufacturer for the detailed locations of
cables and wires in your vehicle, and avoid
mounting the radio above those locations.

DESCRIPTION
The PMLN7089 Travel Charger kit is used for
charging a radio inside a vehicle. The Travel
Charger kit includes a vehicular charger adapter
attached to a charger, and a mounting bracket to
mount the Travel Charger inside the vehicle.
The Travel Charger has the capability to charge a
stand alone battery or a radio with a battery. The
radio MUST be turned off when charging.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The Travel Charger charges only Motorola
Solutions authorized batteries listed in Table 1.
Other batteries may not charge.
Your battery must be charged using the rapid
charge method before operating your radio for the
first time.
Note: Do not leave a battery or radio in the Travel Charger
for an extended period of time (1 week) to avoid a
decrease in battery performance.

Charging Inside the Vehicle
1. Plug the vehicular charger adapter into
the vehicle auxiliary power outlet.
Note: Some vehicles auxiliary power outlets do not
maintain an electrical current once the vehicle has
been turned off. Rated input: 12 – 24 V DC 1 A.
Charging the Battery
1. Insert a battery or radio with a battery into the
charger pocket, making sure the charging
contacts make contact with the battery. The
battery charging indicator LED on the
charger indicates:
LED What it means.....
Green Blink For 1 second when first connecting the
charger to a power source without a
battery or radio inside the charging
pocket.
Red The battery is rapid charging.
Green The battery is fully charged. This occurs
once rapid charge is completed.
Flashing
Yellow
The battery is too cold or too hot to
charge.*
Flashing Red The battery is defective.
Flashing
Green
Charge > 90%
*The LED continues to blink yellow until the battery
meets it normal charging requirements.

Mounting the Bracket
1. Select a location for the bracket that does not
interfere with vehicle operation or with the
vehicle air bag deployment.
2. Using the bracket as a template, mark the
location of the four mounting holes using
either the bottom or back mounting holes.
3. Using a 5/32" (4 mm) diameter drill bit, drill
the four holes.
4. Secure the bracket using four screws.

Securing the Travel Charger and Radio into
the Bracket
Motorola Solutions highly
recommends securing the Travel
Charger and radio into the mounting
bracket when inside the vehicle.
Sudden braking or impact can
propel the Vehicle Charger or radio
with great force and cause serious
injury to occupants of the vehicle.
1. Insert the Travel Charger into the bracket at a
downward angle (see illustration below).
2. Push the back of the Travel Charger into the
bracket until it is securely in place.
3. Insert the radio into the Travel Charger.

Note: Some effort may be required in the insertion/
removal, as the charger is designed to firmly retain
the battery/radio.
4. Extend the elastic strap over both sides of
the channel select knob and hook the clip
under the front lip of the bracket.

Lesen Sie vor Verwendung des Ladegeräts alle
Anweisungen und Warnhinweise (1) am Ladegerät
selbst, (2) am Akku und (3) am Funkgerät, für das
dieser Akku eingesetzt wird.
1. Zur Minimierung der
Verletzungsgefahr bei plötzlichem
Bremsen oder Aufprall während der
Fahrt sind das Mobil-Ladegerät und
Funkgerät sicher in der Halterung zu
befestigen. Ziehen Sie das elastische
Halteband gut fest.
2. Zur Minimierung der Verletzungsgefahr dürfen
ausschließlich die in Tabelle 1 angeführten, von
Motorola Solutions zugelassenen
wiederaufladbaren Akkus geladen werden. Andere
Akkus können explodieren und Personen- oder
Sachschäden verursachen.
3. Bei Verwendung von anderen als von Motorola
Solutions empfohlenen Zubehörteilen besteht die
Möglichkeit der Brand-, Elektrounfall- oder
Verletzungsgefahr.

oder beschädigt ist, da in diesem Fall Brand-,
Elektrounfall- oder Verletzungsgefahr besteht.
Bringen Sie das Ladegerät zu einem autorisierten
Motorola Solutions Servicepartner.
6. Bauen Sie das Ladegerät nicht auseinander; es
kann nicht repariert werden und es gibt keine
Ersatzteile. Das Zerlegen des Ladegeräts könnte
die Gefahr eines Brands oder Elektrounfalls mit
sich bringen.
7. Dieses Gerät ist ein Produkt der Klasse A. Bei
nichtgewerblichem Einsatz besteht die
Möglichkeit, dass es Funkstörungen verursacht. In
diesem Fall muss der Benutzer entsprechende
Gegenmaßnahmen treffen.
HINWEISE ZUM SICHEREN BETRIEB
• Um eine optimale Ladeleistung zu gewährleisten,
schalten Sie das Funkgerät während des
Ladevorgangs aus, es sei denn, das Funkgerät
überträgt Daten drahtlos über WLAN oder
Bluetooth.

• Dieses Gerät ist nicht zur Verwendung im
Außenbereich geeignet. Verwenden Sie es nur an
trockenen Orten und in trockenen Verhältnissen.
• Schließen Sie das Gerät ausschließlich an eine
entsprechend gesicherte und verdrahtete
Stromquelle der richtigen Spannung (siehe
Informationen auf dem Produkt) an.
• Ziehen Sie den Ladestecker aus der Steckdose
ab, wenn das Ladegerät nicht in Gebrauch ist.
• Die Steckdose, an die das Gerät angeschlossen
werden soll, muss sich nahe am Gerät befinden
und leicht zugänglich sein.
• Bei Ersatzsicherungen (falls zutreffend) muss es
sich um den richtigen Typ mit dem richtigen
Nennstrom handeln.
• Wenn das Ladegerät als Tisch-Ladegerät
verwendet wird, darf die maximale
Umgebungstemperatur am
Stromversorgungsgerät 40°C nicht übersteigen.
• Die Ausgangsleistung des
Stromversorgungsgeräts darf die Werte nicht
überschreiten, die auf dem Typenschild an der
Unterseite des Ladegeräts angegeben sind.
• Das Ladekabel muss so verlegt werden, dass es
keine Stolpergefahr oder Behinderung darstellt,
dass es nicht mit Wasser in Kontakt kommen
kann und weder beschädigt noch übermäßig
gedehnt werden kann.

• Ziehen Sie zum Trennen des Ladegeräts von der
Stromversorgung am Ladekabelstecker, nicht am
Ladekabel, um eine Beschädigung des
Mobil-Ladegeräts und des Kabels zu vermeiden.
• Benutzen Sie das Ladegerät bzw. den
Ladekabelstecker für das Mobil-Ladegerät nicht,
wenn das Kabel beschädigt ist. Ein beschädigtes
Ladekabel muss unverzüglich ersetzt werden.
Fahrzeuge mit Airbag(s)
• Ausrüstung darf nicht in Bereichen
oberhalb des Airbag oder im
Auslösebereich selbst abgelegt oder
installiert werden. Airbags blähen
sich mit gewaltigem Druck auf. Wird
ein Gerät im Auslösebereich des
Airbag abgelegt und der Airbag
ausgelöst, kann das Funkgerät mit
großer Geschwindigkeit durch das
Fahrzeug geschleudert werden und
die Insassen schwer verletzen.
• Falsch eingebaute Kommunikationsausrüstung
könnte bei Auslösung des Airbags zu schweren
Verletzungen führen.

• Der Einbau jeglicher Kfz-Kommu-
nikationsausrüstung muss von einem
qualifizierten, mit den Anforderun-
gen derartiger Installationen vertra-
uten Techniker durchgeführt werden.
Größe, Form und Auslösebereich
eines Airbags können je nach Marke,
Modell und der Gestaltung des vor-
deren Innenraums (z.B. unter-
schiedliche Vordersitzgestaltung)
variieren.
• Setzen Sie sich ggf. mit dem Fahrzeughersteller
in Verbindung, der Ihnen genaue Auskunft zur
Airbagausstattung für die Marke, das Modell und
die Gestaltung des vorderen Innenraums Ihres
Fahrzeugs geben kann.
• Befestigungsschrauben können unter den
Oberflächen des Fahrzeugs verlegte Kabel und
Leitungen beschädigen. Setzen Sie sich mit dem
Fahrzeughersteller in Verbindung, um den
genauen Verlauf von Kabeln und Leitungen in
Ihrem Fahrzeug festzustellen und bringen Sie das
Funkgerät nicht direkt über diesen Stellen an.
