Precautions
To e n sure that youuse thisproduct correctly, please read
the following before use. These precautionsmust be
observed at all timesasthey contain information
intended to prevent body injury or damage to property.
• Do not use, keep, or leave the devices(thisproduct,
battery pack, AC charger, SIM card, and other supplied
options) in locationssubject to high temperatures, such
asnear fire, indirect sunlight, inside of a car on a hot
day, or near a heating system.
• Do not put the devicesin heating equipment such asa
microwave oven or pressurized container.
• Do not put the deviceson the unstable place such as
an unstable chair.
• Do not disassemble or modify the devices.
• Do not let the devicesget wet with water, any liquid,
urine of pet animals, etc.
• Do not place electrically conductive objects(wires,
pencil leads, etc.) in contact with the charging product
or microUSB connector. Do not insert such materials
inside the product.
• Do not cover or wrap the deviceswith bedding, etc.
while in using or charging.
•Ifsomething unusual happens, such asunusual odor,
overheating, discoloration, or deformation during use,
charge or storage, be sure to:
-Unplug the AC charger from the power outlet.
-Turn off the power.
- Remove the battery pack from thisproduct.
• Do not leave or use the devicesin humid or dusty
places.
•Use a battery pack and AC charger specified by NEC
de México, S.A. de C.V.
• Do not throw the devices, or expose to excessive shock
or mechanical vibration.
• Do not use damaged devices.
• The supplied AC charger and battery pack are
exclusive for thisproduct. Do not use these with other
devices.
Precautions for this product
•Avoidusing thisproduct in extremely high or low
temperature. The ambient temperature for operating
should be 5°C to 40°C (limited to the temporary use in
a bathroom etc. when temperature isabove 36°C) with
humidity of 45% to 85%.
• Make sure to turn off thisproduct and stop charging
before youget close to placeslike a gasstation where
a flammable gasisgenerated.
•Please turn off thisproduct when inside an airplane,
hospital, or other area where use in prohibited.
- The product may adversely affect electronic or
medical equipment. Follow the instructionsprovided
by the medical facility for the use of mobile phones.
-Using the phone in an airplane isprohibited, and is
punishable by law. However, to enable use inside an
airplane such asusing a non-emission setting, follow
the instructionsof airline before using.
•Makesure to hold thisproduct at a safe distance from
your ear when youtalk with the speaker on, or when
the ring tone sounds. Also, when youplay gamesor
music with an earphone / microphone etc. connected to
the product, adjust the volume properly.
• When viewing the display, maintain a proper distance
between your eyesand the screen in a bright place.
• Do not view the display for a long period continuously.
• There may be caseswhere the customer'sphysical
condition or predisposition leadsto itchiness, rashes, or
sores. If thisoccurs, immediately stop using this
product and see a doctor.
For materialsof each part, refer to 'Material list' (P.6).
• Operationsof thisproduct for a long period repeatedly
may cause pain on your hand, arthralgia, backache,
stiff shoulders, etc.
•Ifyouhave a weak heart, take precautionswhen
setting the Vibrator or Ring volume.
•Please turn off the power near electronic equipment
that containshigh-precision mechanismsor handles
delicate signals.
The product may interfere with the operation of
sensitive electronic equipment. Electronic equipment to
watch out for includeshearing aids, implanted
pacemakers, ICDs, and other electronic medical
devices; fire alarms, automatic doors, and other
automatically controlled apparatus. Usersof implanted
pacemakers, ICDs, and other electronic medical
devicesare advised to ask their doctor, the
manufacturer of the equipment, or the shop of
purchase whether or not these devicescan be affected
by radio waves.
• If the display or camera lensisbroken, be careful with
the broken glass and any exposed terminal parts.
Impact absorbent resin isused inside the display, and a
plastic panel isused for the camera lenssurfacesto
avoid glass scattering. However, touching broken or
exposed partsmay cause injury.
• If the display isbroken and the liquid crystal leaks, do
not touch it with your face, hands, etc.
• Do not swing thisproduct by the strap or other parts.
• Do not use thisproduct outside when youhear thunder.
• The service of the emergency callsisnot supported for
all areas. Please only consider thisproduct isone way
to make emergency calls, such ascalling the
ambulance.
• Do not place water or other liquid, metal items, easily
burnable objects, etc., around the SIM card tray or
microSD card slot.
• Do not paint or put labels/ stickerson thisproduct.

• Pay attention to the objectsdrawn to thisproduct. You
may be injured unexpectedly by the sharp-edged
shardsof metal such asthe pushpin, cutter blade or
staple, since the magnet isused for the earpiece and
speaker parts. When youuse thisproduct, make sure
that no foreign objectsare adhered to them.
• Do not expose the devices(thisproduct, battery pack,
AC charger, SIM card, and other supplied options) to
liquidssuch aswater.
Do not let the devicesget wet directly with water. Also,
do not use them in a place with high humidity such asa
bathroom or do not handle by wet hands. Failure to do
so may produce electric shock, short-circuiting, or
corrode, causing it to a malfunction. (Pay special
attention when youuse the devicesnear water such as
at a beach or on a rainy / snowy day). If the devicesget
wet, immediately unplug the power plug and microUSB
cable and remove the battery pack. Note that any
defectsor malfunctionsdue to exposure to water or
high-humidity environment may not be included in the
Warranty and repairsmay not be covered by the
Warranty.
• Do not leave the product on the sand at a beach.
Sand might enter the mouthpiece or earpiece / speaker
and result in smaller sound.
Precautions for children and pets
• Keep the devicesout of children'sor pets' reach.
Children or petsmay try to swallow them, etc., or suffer
injury.
• Keep your petsaway from the battery pack asthey may
accidentally bite it.
• If a child isto use thisproduct, instruct him / her on how
to use it. Check if he / she alwaysusesthisproduct
correctly asyouinstruct.
Precautions for charging
•Payspecial attention when youuse thisproduct
connected to the AC charger for a long period.
If youuse for a long time while charging, the
temperature of the product, battery pack, or AC charger
may rise.
If youtouch the warm part of these devicesfor a long
period of time, it may cause redness, itch, skin
irritation, or low temperature burnsdepending on your
constitution or physical condition.
• Do not use the AC charger if the microUSB cable is
damaged.
• Do not use the AC charger in humid locationssuch as
a bathroom.
• Do not touch the AC charger when yousee lightning or
hear thunder.
• Do not use the AC charger outside.
• Do not short-circuit the charging terminalswhen the AC
charger isplugged into the power outlet. Also, do not
let the charging terminalscontact with your body (hand,
fingers, etc.).
• Do not put heavy objectson the microUSB cable of the
AC charger.
• When plugging / unplugging the AC charger into / from
the power outlet, make sure that no metallic strapsor
other metallic objectsare caught between the plug and
the socket.
• When plugging the AC charger into the power outlet,
make sure to insert it firmly.
•Use the specified voltage and current.
AC charger: AC 100 V to 240 V (household AC outlet
only)
• Wipe off any dust on the plug.
• Alwaysgrasp the AC charger when unplugging the plug
from the power outlet. Do not pull the microUSB cable
itself.
• If water or other liquid getsinto the AC charger,
immediately unplug it from the power outlet.
• Unplug the AC charger from the power outlet when the
AC charger will be left unused for a long period.
• Unplug the AC charger from the power outlet before
cleaning it.
• The ambient temperature of the room should be 5°C to
35°C.
Precautions for the battery pack
• Check the orientation of the battery pack before
attaching. If youhave difficulty attaching to thisproduct,
do not put excessive pressure on the battery pack.
• Do not place metal itemssuch aswiresin contact with
the charging terminals. Also, do not carry or store the
battery pack with metal itemssuch asa necklace.
• Do not throw the battery pack into fire.
• Do not puncture the battery pack, hit it with a hammer
or step on it.
• Do not use or charge the battery pack if wet.
•Neveruse the battery pack if something abnormal such
asdeformation or damage hasoccurred.
• If the battery pack leaksor emitsan unusual odor, stop
using it immediately and move it away from any flame
or fire.
• If the battery pack leaks, do not touch any leaked
battery fluid etc., with your face, hands, etc.
Failure to observe thisprecaution may cause loss of
eyesight or damage to your skin. If the battery fluid etc.
getsinto your eyesor mouth, or it adheresto your skin
or clothing, immediately rinse with clean water. In this
case of contact with your eyesor mouth, see a doctor
immediately after rinsing.
Precautions for the SIM card /
microSD card
• Be careful with sharp edgeswhen removing the SIM
card / microSD card.

Precautions for using near electric
medical devices
•Ifyouare wearing electronic medical devices, ask your
doctor whether the devicescan be affected by radio
wavesbefore using.
• Take care of the following inside hospitals.
- Do not take thisproduct into the operating room,
intensive care unit (ICU), or coronary care unit
(CCU).
-Turn off the power even in hospital lobbies, waiting
roomsand corridorsif electronic medical devices
may be in use near you.
-Foruse inside medical institutions, please follow the
instructionsgiven at individual locations.
• A person with an implanted pacemaker or ICD should
use or carry thisproduct at a distance more than 22 cm
from the site of implantation. Radio wavesemitted by
thisproduct may adversely affect implanted
pacemakersand ICDswhen using in close proximity.
Precautions for driving
• Before using in a vehicle, ask the manufacturer or sales
agent whether the operation of the vehicle can be
affected by radio waves. In some typesof vehicle, using
thisproduct may interfere with the operation of the
vehicle'selectronic equipment. In thiscase, stop using
thisproduct immediately.
•Becareful when using thisproduct while driving. A fine
may be imposed for holding a mobile phone while
driving. However, exceptionsare made in case of
emergency, such asto safeguard injured personsor to
maintain public safety.
•Please check the law and regulationsof the area for
using a mobile phone, and follow them.
•Please do not place thisproduct near the air bag of a
car. When the air bag operates, it may be injured by
thisproduct.
Disposing the battery pack
• Do not dispose of used battery packswith ordinary
garbage. Check local regulationsby contacting your
local city office or your household waste disposal
service for disposing.

Handling Precautions
• Do not expose to water. The devices(thisproduct,
battery pack, AC charger, SIM card, and other supplied
accessories) are not waterproof. Do not use them in a
humid place such asa bathroom or in the rain. If you
carry thisproduct on your body, perspiration may
corrode the internal partsof the product and cause
malfunction. Note that if a trouble isdiagnosed as
exposure to water or other liquid, repairsof thisproduct
may not be covered by the Warranty or it may not be
possible to repair such phones. In that case, even if the
product can be repaired, it isrepaired at the owner's
expense.
• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth (such asan eyeglass
cleaning cloth).
-Rubbing the display of thisproduct with a dry cloth
may scratch the display surface.
- The display surface may be stained if moisture or dirt
isleft on it for a long period.
-Neveruse chemicalssuch asalcohol, thinners,
benzen, or detergents, asthese agentsmay erase
the printing on thisproduct or cause discoloration.
• Occasionally clean the connection terminalswith a dry
cotton swab, etc.
- Soiled connectorsmay result in poor connections,
loss of power, or incomplete charging. Wipe with a
dry cloth or cotton swab.
• Do not place thisproduct near an air conditioning vent.
Condensation may form due to rapid changesin
temperature, and thismay cause internal corrosion and
malfunction.
• Do not put excessive pressure on thisproduct or
battery pack.
- Do not put thisproduct in a bag filled with many
objectsor sit down with it in a hip pocket.
-Excessive pressure may result in malfunction or
damage to the display, internal circuit or the battery
pack, etc. Also, if an external device isconnected to
the microUSB connector or earphone jack, do not
apply excessive pressure on the device. Doing so
may cause the malfunction or damage to the device
or the connector / jack.
• Do not scratch the display with metallic objects.
Handling the product
• Do not use forcefully push or use a pointed object
(nails, ball pointed pen, pin, etc.) on the touch panel.
• Reception may be affected if youuse thisproduct near
a land-line phone, television, or radio in use. Use this
product away from such devices.
•Ensure thisproduct doesnot come near a fire such as
a stove, or fall from a tabletop (the product may slide
when it vibrates).
• When connecting an external device to the microUSB
connector or earphone jack, do not plug it crookedly or
pull it forcibly.
•Itisnormal for thisproduct to become warm while
being used or charged. Thisisnot a malfunction.
• Do not leave the camera exposed to direct sunlight.
Doing so may discolor or burn itscomponents.
• Do not use thisproduct with the back cover removed.
Doing so may cause the battery pack to fall out, or
cause malfunction or damage.
• Do not insert hard, sharp objectsinto the earpiece,
mouthpiece, or speaker.
• Do not remove the microSD card or turn off the power
while in use. Doing so may cause data loss or
malfunction.
• Do not let magnetic cards, etc. come close to this
product. The magnetic data in cash cards, credit cards,
prepaid cards, floppy disks, etc. may be erased.
• Do not let strong magnetic objectscome close to this
product. Strong magnetism may cause a malfunction.
• Keep a separate record of the information youhave
registered for thisproduct.

Handling the battery pack
• The battery pack isreplaceable.
Battery life variesdepending on usage conditions, etc.,
but it istime to change the battery pack when the
usage time hasbecome extremely short, even when it
hasbeen fully charged. In thiscase, purchase a new
battery pack.
• Depending on the usage condition, the battery pack
may expand slightly when the battery life isalmost over.
Thisisnot a malfunction.
• Do not store the battery pack in the following cases.
- The battery isfully charged (immediately after the
charging iscomplete).
- The battery hasrun out (the phone cannot power on).
The performance and life of the battery pack may
deteriorate.
It isrecommended that youstore the battery pack with
around 40% of a full charge.

Handling the AC charger
• Do not charge the battery pack at the following places.
-Ahumid, dusty or unstable place
- Near a land-line phone, TV, or radio
• Do not expose the AC charger to strong shocks. Do not
deform the charging terminal.
•Ifyouuse an electrical outlet with an unplugging-
protection mechanism, follow the instructionsof the
manual for the outlet.
• Do not use a car DC adapter to charge the battery pack
when the car engine isnot running.
Handling the SIM card
• Do not apply excessive force to the SIM card when
attaching / removing it.
• Note that the warranty doesnot cover damage caused
by inserting the SIM card into another type of the IC
card reader or writer.
•Alwayskeep the IC part clean.
• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth (such asan eyeglass
cleaning cloth) for cleaning.
• Keep a separate record of the information youhave
registered in your SIM card.

Bluetooth®Function
• This product supports a security function
compliant with Bluetooth standards, but the
security may not be sufficient, depending on the
setting.
Concern about communication using the Bluetooth
function.
• NEC de México, S.A. de C.V. is not responsible for
data leak when making data communications using
Bluetooth.
• You can use a headset, handsfree, audio, object
push, serial port, and phonebook access on the
product. The audio / video remote control may be
available for audio. (Only on Bluetooth compatible
devices.)
• Bluetooth cautions
The operating frequency band of this product is
used by industrial, scientific, consumer and
medical equipment including microwave ovens,
premises radio stations for identifying mobile units
used in manufacturing (radio stations requiring a
licence), specified low power radio stations (radio
stations requiring no licence) and amateur radio
stations. (Hereinafter, any of the above stations is
referred to as 'another station').
1 Before using Bluetooth with thisproduct, confirm that
'another station' isnot being operated nearby.
2 In the event that thisproduct iscausing radio
interference with 'another station', immediately
change the operating frequency or stop radio wave
emission by turning off the power, etc.
3 If youhave further questions, contact your network
operator or service provider.
Wireless LAN
• A wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) uses radio waves for
transmission, and thereby has the benefit of
allowing a LAN connection anywhere in an area
reachable by those radio waves. Conversely,
eavesdropping by a third party or wrongful
intrusion are possible if security settings are not
configured. You are advised to use discretion and
configure security settings before using.
• Wireless LAN

Removing / Attaching
the Back Cover
To remove the back cover, hook your finger on the slot
and remove in the direction shown, without too much
force.
To attach the back cover, insert the tabsin the slotsas
shown below and push down the back cover securely in
the direction shown.
Securely push the areasshown by arrowsand make sure
that there isno gap between the back cover and this
product.
Note
• When attaching the back cover, make sure that the SIM card,
the microSD card, and the battery pack are attached
securely. If the SIM card or microSD card is not securely
inserted, the battery pack will sit on the SIM or microSD card
and create a gap between this product and the back cover
when attaching the back cover.

Inserting the SIM Card
The SIM card isan IC card that storesyour phone
numbersand other information. Some functionsare not
available if the SIM card isnot inserted.
Slide the SIM card, IC surface (gold-colored) faced
down, into the slot and set correctly.
Inserting the microSD
Card
Insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot
until it is locked by the stopper.
To remove the microSD card, slide it out while pushing
the stopper asshown.
Note
• You can use a microSD card up to 2G bytes or micorSDHC
card up to 32G bytes.

Attaching the Battery
Pack
Insert the battery pack in the direction by hooking
the tabs into the slots.
Charging the Battery
1Connect the microUSB plug of the supplied
microUSB cable with engraved side facing up to
the microUSB connector.
2Connect the USB plug of the cable with the
supplied AC charger.
3Insert the AC charger plug into the power outlet.
Note
• When connecting to the microUSB connector of this product,
hold the microUSB plug straight against the connector without
tilting it vertically or horizontally and insert it gently.
■About the notification LED
Notification LED turnsred when charging startsin a state
of battery depletion.
Notification LED turnsoff when the charging status icon
appears.

To zoom in or zoom out, touch the touch panel with two
fingers, and then slide them apart or together.

Turning Power On and
Off
Turning power on
Press and hold the power switch for two seconds or
longer.
When the power isfirst turned on, tap "Aceptar". The
language selecting screen appears. After tapping the
language, tap "Next" twice. The "Get started !!!" screen
appears.
•"Knowyour device": Thisproduct'sappearance and
partsnamesare shown by moving images. To view
from another angle, tap "Next". When finished, the "Get
started !!!" screen appearsagain. Youcan replay it
when tapping .
•"Basic functions": Enablesto confirm some of the basic
functions. To check the following function, tap "Next".
When finished, the "Get started !!!" screen appears
again. Youcan replay it when tapping .
•"Settings": See to 'Initial Settings'.
To skip these steps, tap "Exit". Youcan start from "Make
yourself at home" screen. Tap , "System settings",
and then "Wizard".
Turning power off

■Sleep mode
When thisproduct isnot operated for a specified duration
of time, the display turnsoff and thisproduct enterssleep

touch panel islocked. Drag to to unlock the

Initial Settings
When the power isfirst turned on, tap "Aceptar". The

Select the language.
• "Set date and time"
Set date and time. Also, youcan select time zone,

Tap "Next" to complete settings.
•"Setup Wi-Fi"
Set Wi-Fi settings. Slide "OFF" to "ON" to turn on
the Wi-Fi. A scan for Wi-Fi networksstarts
automatically. Tap the name of the Wi-Fi networks
that youwant to connect to.
Enter the password and tap "Connect".
Tap to complete settings.
• "Add accounts"
Tap the account type to set the account. Follow the
on-screen instructions.
5Tap "Exit" to complete initial settings.
Yo ucan set these settingslater. Tap , "System
settings", and then select the item to set (P.44).

Access Point Settings
The access pointsrequired for connecting to the Internet
are preset. Youmay add or change them asrequired.
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"More..." `"Mobile networks" `
"Access Point Names".
2Tap the radio button for the access point.
Adding an access point
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"More..." `"Mobile networks" `
"Access Point Names".
2Tap `"New APN".
3Tap "Name" `enter the name of the new network
profile `"OK".
4Tap "APN" `enter the access point name `"OK".
5Enter any other items requested by your network
operator.
6Tap `"Save".
Note
• Do not change "MCC" or "MNC". Otherwise, registered /
added access points will no longer display on the screen. If
access points no longer display due to the "MCC" or "MNC"
setting being changed, you can either restore default settings
or manually set the access points again.
Initializing an access point
When youinitialize an access point, it returnsto its
default settings.
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"More..." `"Mobile networks" `
"Access Point Names".
2Tap `"Reset to default".
Wi-Fi Settings
Wi-Fi isa function that allowsyouto use email and the
Internet, via access pointsfor household / corporate
networksor public wireless LAN services.
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"Wi-Fi".
2Slide "OFF" to "ON".
A scan for Wi-Fi networksbeginsautomatically. A list
of available networksappears.
If your network doesnot appear, tap "SCAN" to begin
a scan again.
3Select the Wi-Fi network.
4Enter the password when requested.
5Tap "Connect".
Adding a Wi-Fi network manually
For information on using an access point, refer to the
manual for the access point.
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"Wi-Fi".
2Slide "OFF" to "ON".
3Tap "ADD NETWORK".
4Enter "Network SSID" and the "Security" type.
5Enter additional security information as required.
6Tap "Save".
Disconnecting a connected Wi-Fi
network
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"Wi-Fi".
2Slide "ON" to "OFF".
The password of the connected Wi-Fi network will be
stored.
To delete the password, tap the connected Wi-Fi
network `"Forget" while the "Wi-Fi" is"ON".

Turn on "Wi-Fi" beforehand.

Also, "MAC address" and "IP address" are displayed
on the screen.
Setting an Email
Account
Yo ucan use email by setting up your own account with
any of the usual service providers. Detailson setting up
your account should be available from your provider.
1From the applications list screen, tap "Email".
2Enter the email address and password `"Next".
For an email account without preset provider
information, settingsmust be completed manually.
Contact your provider for detailson settings.
3Follow the screen prompts to configure the
account.
■To set another account
From the "Email" screen, tap `"Settings" `"ADD
ACCOUNT".
Check the box for sending email from the adding account
by default.
Setting a Google or other account
By configuring a Google account, youcan use Gmail,
market, and other services.
1From the Idle screen, tap `"System
settings" `"Accounts & sync" `"ADD
ACCOUNT".
2Tap the type of account.
3Follow the screen prompts to configure the
account.
