MagnaTrack LS
EN See Figure6.
• Fit the duct connector over a rail joint as near the
middle of the rail as possible.
See Figure7 and Figure8.
• Mount the trolley with balancer and fit the balancer
cord in the 90°-bend.
See Figure6.
1 Install the shock absorber in the front of the rail
according to item 1.
2 Install the screw and nut at the rear of the rail ac-
cording to item 2.
4.3Exhaust pipe
See Figure9. The pipe is to be straight and lie flush
with or protrude slightly out from the side of the
vehicle. Also, note the minimum distances from the
bottom of the coachwork and the back wheel. It is pos-
sible that modifications may be required to the ex-
haust system of the vehicle to ensure the optimum
position of the exhaust pipe.
4.4Anchor plate
See Figure9. The anchor plate is to be fitted to the
side of the vehicle 600 mm (2 ft) from the exhaust
pipe. If necessary this distance can be changed (+100
mm (4 in), –25 mm (–1 in)) by loosening the adjusting
screw in the magnetic unit, see Figure10 item X.
NOTE!
Secure the attachment of the anchor plate to
the vehicle to withstand the release force 180
N ± 18 N (40 lbs ± 4 lbs) when automatic re-
lease at exit: 550 N (125 lbs) when manual pull
off straight out.
4.5Nozzle
See Figure10.
1 Fit the nozzle leaf spring in the magnetic unit with
the adjusting screw as shown in the figure. Fit the
hose in the magnetic unit with the hose clip and
cover with the rubber ring. Check that the nozzle,
when not connected to the vehicle, is pointing for-
ward in the driving direction.
2 To adjust the nozzle after fitting the anchor plate,
use the adjusting screw marked X to move the leaf
spring some upwards or downwards.
NOTE!
If the leaf spring is moved upwards it must not
come in contact with the upper hose. If nec-
cessary its upper end should be cut off.
See Figure11 item A or B.
• Locate the nozzle on to the exhaust pipe and secure
the magnetic unit on the anchor plate making sure
the hose is tensioned correctly. The hose should
form a 90° bend coming out from the exhaust pipe.
4.6Adjustment of disconnection wires
See Figure12.
The release of the magnet is achieved by means of
two wires inside the vertical hose; one is attached just
behind the magnet inside the magnet assembly, and
the other wire on the opposite side inside the mag-
net assembly. The other ends of the two wires are at-
tached inside the elbow with the balancer.
The wires are adjusted at the factory for an installa-
tion height of 3,5 m (11 ft - 6 in) of the track. There is
no need for any adjustment of the wires if the track is
installed between 3.3-3.6 m (11-12 ft). If the mount-
ing height is lower than 3.3 m (11 ft), there may be a
reason to shorten the vertical hose and adjust the two
wires according to the following list:
1 etermine the correct length of the upper hose
and cut it, then re-attach the hose to the elbow
and tighten the hose clamp.
2 Loosen the hose clamp on the other side of the el-
bow and pull off the lower hose.
3 Loosen the two wire locks on top of the elbow but
not more than that you can slide the wires.
4 Start by carefully pulling the shorter of the two
wire ends and observe the hose at the magnet as-
sembly. Pull the wire until the magnet assembly is
lifted approximately 25-50 mm (1-2 inches), and
then tighten the wire lock for that wire with 3-5
Nm (0.02-0.03lbf/in).
5 Now pull the longer end of the two wires and ob-
serve the magnet assembly. Pull the wire until the
magnet assembly is lifted another 50-100 mm
(2-4 inches), and tighten the wire lock with 3-5
Nm (0.02-0.03lbf/in).
6 Reattach the lower hose to the elbow and tighten
the hose clamp.
7 Now connect the magnet to the anchor plate and
exit carefully while observing how the system dis-
connects. Any excessive sling shot of the system
indicates that the wires are not correctly adjus-
ted. Please call your Nederman representative for
guidance.
4.7Installation checklist
When the mechanical assembly and fan connection
of MagnaTrack LS is complete, the system is ready for
use after double-checking the following points:
1 Check the disconnection procedure. The extrac-
tion hose should disconnect from the exhaust pipe
immediately before the station door opening at
normal speed, not more than 5 km/h (3 mph). Ad-
just the shock absorber if needed..
2 Check that the hose lifts away correctly after dis-
connection and that it does not touch the station
floor. When required, adjust the balancer lifting
power, see Section6.1.2Balancer.
