General
With SMS 40 you can control and monitor your NIBE heat
pump using a mobile telephone via SMS messaging. For
this to work, SMS 40 must be equipped with a valid GSM
subscription.
There is no special GSM subscription requirement. A pay
as you go card or a normal subscription work equally
well. However a pay as you go card must be regularly
refilled to ensure continued use.
NOTE
Check that SMSs can be sent with the SIM card
to be used.
Deactivate if necessary. PIN for SIM card. This
can be done in a mobile telephone or by your
service provider.

Mounting
SMS 40 can be positioned lying on a flat surface or wall-
mounted. Where SMS 40 is wall-mounted, use the sup-
plied wall bracket.

NOTE
When wall mounting, the hole for the antenna
cable must be pointing downwards to prevent
water from entering SMS 40.
NOTE
SMS 40 must not be installed outdoors.
SMS 40 is supplied with a factory installed antenna. The
antenna section has a piece of self-adhesive tape that
can be used to secure the antenna, for example to a
window if coverage in the installation location is poor.

Electrical connection
NOTE
All electrical connections must be carried out by
an authorised electrician.
Electrical installation and wiring must be carried
out in accordance with the stipulations in force.
F370/F470/F750/F1145/F1245 must not be
powered when installing SMS 40.
The wiring diagram is at the end of these installation in-
structions.
Connecting communication
Terminal block X1 on the SMS card (AA9) in SMS 40 is
connected to terminal block X4:9-12 on the input card
(AA3) in the heat pump.
Use cable type LiYY, EKKX or similar.
NOTE
If there is a RMU 40 in the installation it should
be connected to terminal X1 on the SMS card
(AA9).

Caution
Take care when inserting the SIM card.
1. Insert the SIM card in SMS 40 by carefully sliding the
holder to one side and folding it up. Then slide the
SIM card into the cover.
2. If you want SMS 40 to send SMSs in the event of a
power cut, carry out the following:
႑Install a 9V battery on the circuit board in SMS
40.
႑Position the jumper according to the image be-
low.

Caution
The pin code must be deactivated and if it is pay
as you go there must be credits on the card.

Quick start guide
Program setting of SMS 40 can be performed via the start
guide or directly in the menu system.
1. Start the heat pump and select SMS 40 in menu
"System settings" (5.2).
2. Go to menu 5.3.5 in your heat pump and add the
mobile numbers that are to have access to change
and receive status information from the heat pump.
Mobile numbers must include country code e.g.
+46XXXXXXXX.
3. If you want to receive an SMS message in the event
of the alarm mark the box to the right of the tele-
phone number.

Telephone numbers provided must be able to
receive SMS messages.
Download the app
If the mobile telephone also has the Android operating
system the ”NIBE Mobile App” can be used. In the event
of an alarm, SMS 40 can send an SMS to the programmed
recipient and present it graphically.

Contact with SMS 40
SMS commands F370/F470/F750/F1145/F1245
SMS 40 sends an SMS in the event of a power cut, when F370/F470/F750/F1145/F1245 starts after a power cut and in
the event of a constant alarm. These messages are only sent to the alarm recipient (menu 5.3.5).
SMS 40 can receive and send the following commands to F370/F470/F750/F1145/F1245:

Troubleshooting
SMS 40 has no contact with the GSM
network
SMS 40 does not reply to the SMS command and a sym-
bol for lost connection to GSM network appears in heat
pump menu 5.3.5.
