INTRODUCTION
The arm board is designed to support the arms of a patient at different surgical procedures. The arm
board is very easy to adjust in any desired position and is maneuvered by just one hand. It is also very
easy to apply to the operating table thanks to the “hook on” clamp with eccentric locking.
ABOUT USERS MANUAL
This user manual is for clinical personnel, service personnel and others who need the knowledge
about and understanding of how the arm board works and how it can be used.
•Read user manual carefully before use of the equipment.
•Always follow the instructions in user manual.
•Always keep user manual close to the equipment.
INSTALLATION
At the unpacking, check for any kind of damage on the equipment. Also check that all parts
according to the delivery note are received. The packing material consists of cardboard and plastic,
which all can be recycled.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
To adjust the top, put the hand at the end of the top, grasp the T-shaped lever with the fingers and
pull the lever upwards. The top can now be moved around, be set in any desired angel vertically or
laterally. When the top is in desired position, lock by releasing the lever. The post of the ball joint
can also be set in different angels by turning the handle for post angel adjustment two revolutions
anticlockwise, set to desired angel and lock by turning the handle clockwise.
To apply the arm board to the accessory rail of an operating table, hook the clamp of the arm board
on the rail and lock by turning the lock lever either to the right or to the left. When the lock lever has
come to a horizontal position and a slight “click” has appeared, the arm board is correctly locked.
For height adjustment, turn the height adjustment lever anticlockwise, adjust the height and lock by
turning the lever clockwise.CAUTION! To avoid malfunction in the ball joint, no fluids shall be
applied to the ball joint. The oil film on the ball shall not be removed.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
❖If the arm board is to be used with diathermy procedures, the pad must be fixed to the arm
board plate by f.ex. velcro straps to prevent it from sliding. The whole arm board including
the maneuver lever must be covered by a sterile bag or anything else to prevent the patient
from getting in contact with metal parts.
❖The personnel, responsible for adjustment of the arm board, must be sure of there are no
human parts in the risk area when the arm board is adjusted.
❖When the height shall be adjusted and the lock lever is loosened, the top of the arm board
must be hold at the underside to prevent it from uncontrolled lowering.
❖When transferring mobile operating table with arm board applied, the arm board shall be
turned in over the operating table, or be removed, to avoid collisions that could cause damage
to the arm board or to other equipment.
❖The arm board is designed for a Safe Working Load of 15 kilograms evenly applied. To keep
the valid safety factor according to the European Standards EN 60601-1 and EN 60601-2-46
the Safe Working Load shall not be exceeded. Overload can cause injuries to the patient or
damage the equipment. 15kg Safe Working Load is corresponding to a patient weight of
200kg.
❖Before every use with a patient, a function control of the arm board must always be done.
❖Service and preventing maintenance shall be done by authorized personnel and according to
issued intervals.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Be aware of, that all kind of repair and adjustments only can be done by for this purpose educated
personnel. Changing of the construction or parts in the construction without a written permission
from the manufacturer is strictly forbidden.
Cleaning
Clean with soap and tempered water. If necessary, use alcohol as supplement. Use no cleaning
detergents on the ball joint. The oil film on the ball shall not be removed. Don´t spray any
detergent into the ball joint. Damp a soft cloth with antiseptic detergent and wipe for cleaning
of the ball joint. Don´t use detergents containing strong acids or bases.
Control
Check that there are no damages to any parts. Also, check for loose parts. The locking function is to
be checked by locking and unlocking the top in different positions.
Annual service
Once a year the arm board shall be carefully cleaned, moving parts shall be lubricated, the locking
function shall be tested and, if necessary the ball joint shall be adjusted.
BALL JOINT ADJUSTMENT
Adjusting of the release point.
Loosen the set screw, adjust the release lever by tighten or loosen the release lever adjustment screw.
After correct adjusting, tighten the set screw.
Adjusting the locking force.
For higher locking force, tighten the locking force adjustment screws. For lower force, loosen the
screws. Only 1/8 of a revolution is enough to change the force.
When the release lever is in resting position, the arm board shall have full locking force. The locking
force is set from the factory to 12kg. At higher load the top begin to slowly drift downwards. This is
made to prevent damages to the arm board or on other equipment at a collision.
The ball in the ball joint device shall be oiled with a hydraulic oil ISO VG 32 or similar viscosity.
