Screen
This chapter provides an overview of Interactive Whiteboard D5500. It also explains how to view the
screen and use the machine to perform basic operations.
Things You Can Do with This Machine
You can use the machine in a variety of ways to fit your needs.
Write strokes
You can use the dedicated pen for this machine to
write strokes that depict letters, numbers, and
graphics. These strokes can be edited or deleted.

You can write markers on the screen or on top of
strokes with your finger.

You can add or delete pages. You can switch
between pages to write or edit information. You also

Save pages
You can combine all the pages within a single PDF
file. This file can be saved to a USB memory device
or sent by e-mail. You also can temporarily save the
page you are currently using to the machine
memory.

Use a video conferencing device or projector
You can display an image from a video
conferencing device or use a projector to project the
screen of the machine.

whiteboard
You can share a screen with multiple devices
connected via a network. You can also perform
operations on the shared screen.

Use a web browser to view a shared screen
You can use the web browser installed on your
computer to participate in a remote whiteboard
session. You can also view screens that are shared
during the session.

View the screen using Interactive Whiteboard
Remote Viewer Type 1
With Interactive Whiteboard Remote Viewer Type 1,
which is view-only software, you can participate in a
remote whiteboard session in order to view the
screen.

display the screen of a computer connected via a
network. You can also operate the computer from
the machine.

1. Information display area
This area displays the following information:
• Date and time
This area displays the current date and time.
The date and time can be changed in Administrator Settings. For details about how to change the date
and time, see page 125 "Setting the Date and Time".
• Host name
Indicates the host name of this machine. If no host name is specified, this area is blank. The host name is
displayed only when information about this machine is registered in a reverse record on the DNS server.
• IP address
Indicates the IP address of this machine.
• Passcode
Indicates the passcode. The passcode is used to join in a remote whiteboard session. It is set
automatically when the machine starts up.
The host name, IP address, and passcode can be shown or hidden with , the Information display icon. The
information is automatically hidden one minute after it is displayed by selecting this icon. To continue
displaying the information, change the system settings in Administrator Settings. For details about how to
change the settings, see page 151 "Changing the System Settings".
2. Main operation panel
The icons in this area are used to write a stroke and perform various other operations on the screen. For details
about the icons displayed in this area, see page 15 "Main Operation Panel Icons".
The main operation panel can be shown or hidden with / , the Show and Hide icons.

3. Page operation panel
The icons and thumbnails in this area are used to switch and edit pages. For details about the icons displayed
in this area, see page 17 "Page Operation Panel Icons".
The page operation panel can be shown or hidden with / , the Show and Hide icons.
There are two types of pages: screen pages and captured pages. For details about pages, see page 14 "A
Screen Page and a Captured Page".
4. Move main operation panel icon
Moves the main operation panel to the opposite side. The IP address, passcode, and date and time also move
together with the panel.
By default, this icon is located on the bottom-left corner of the screen. When the main operation panel is
moved to the left, the icon moves to the bottom-right corner of the screen.
A Screen Page and a Captured Page
A page is an area on which you can perform work operations, such as writing information.
A screen page is a page that displays an imported file or an image from a connected device.
A captured page is a page that is added when the screen page is captured. The thumbnail of the added
page is displayed in the page list.
• You can write and perform other stroke operations on a screen page or captured page. For details
about writing and other stroke operations, see page 21 "Using the Machine as a Whiteboard".
• On a screen page, you can display the screen of a computer or tablet. You can also display
images from an image output device such as a document camera. For details about how to display
a screen page and write information on it, see page 58 "Displaying an Image from a Computer
and Writing Information".
• You can create new pages or copy or delete pages. For details about how to create a new page,
copy a page, or delete a page, see page 46 "Adding and Deleting a Page".

1. Page Copy icon
Adds a page by making a copy of the currently displayed captured page. For details about how to make a
copy, see page 46 "Adding and Deleting a Page".
2. Page Delete icon
Deletes the currently displayed captured page. For details about how to delete a page, see page 46
"Adding and Deleting a Page".
3. Page List
Displays the thumbnails of captured pages. To display a captured page, touch the corresponding thumbnail.
Page information is displayed as "page number/total number of pages" at the lower right of the thumbnails.
Up to four pages are displayed. If five or more pages are to be displayed, use / , the Scroll icons, to move
between pages.

4. New Page icon
Adds a new page to captured pages. For details about how to add a new page, see page 46 "Adding and
Deleting a Page".
5. Capture icon
Records information written on a screen page. For details about how to record written information, see
page 44 "Capturing the Screen Page".
6. Screen Page icon
• Shows a screen page.
• Changes the screen or image that is displayed.

Operating the Screen
Use the pen dedicated for this machine to operate the screen. You can also operate the screen with your
fingers.
• When using the machine for an extended period of time, make sure to take breaks to prevent eye
strain.
• When the machine starts up, the position of the touch sensor is adjusted automatically. Do not touch
the screen while the machine is starting. If you do, the position of the touch sensor may not be
adjusted correctly.
• Do not use multiple pens with this machine at the same time. If you use multiple pens at the same
time, unintended operations may be performed.
• If anything other than the pen is used, such as if a shirt sleeve touches the display, information may
not be written onto the machine correctly.
• When using multiple machines at the same time, make sure that each machine is set at least 15 m
(49.2 feet) apart. If machines are set within 15 m of each other, unintended operations may be
performed.
• To stop the machine, press and immediately release the power button on the front of the display.
For details about how to stop the machine, see Read This First . If the machine is shut down by
performing one of the following actions instead of pressing the power button as described above,
the machine might be damaged:
• Pressing and holding down the power button
• Turning off the main power
• Disconnecting the power cable
• You cannot use your fingers to operate the screen when operating the screen with the pen.
• If the distance between your fingers is too narrow when touching the screen, the touch may not be
recognized accurately.
• A touch on the top of the screen may not be recognized accurately.
Operating Screens with the Pen
Selecting an icon or button
Touch an icon or button with the pen nib to select it. Quickly touch the same item twice with the pen
nib to perform a double-click similar to that of a mouse.
