04 1. Preparation.
1.1 Delivery
On receiving the product, please check it for completeness, lack of faults
and check it for any transport damage.
Inspect the goods in the presence of your forwarder
Should transport damage have occurred, please arrange for an inventory
(determination of the faults) to be made in the presence of the forwarder.
Please send a complaint in writing to the specialist dealer responsible (see
Point 9.5).
1.2 Safety measures prior to use
Correct usage of the bathing and shower aid requires precise and careful
training of the accompanying person. We ask you to read through the In-
structions for use carefully prior to initial commissioning of the walking aid,
and to observe them. Cushioned parts may become warm when exposed
to direct sunlight. Cover these parts or protect the equipment from direct
sunlight.
1.3 Safe disposal
In order to preserve and protect the environment, to prevent environmental
pollution, and to improve the recycling of raw materials, please note the
disposal instructions (1.3.1 and 1.3.2).
1.3.1 Packaging
The product packaging should be stored in case the product needs to be
transported again. Should you have to return the product for repairs or in
case of a guarantee claim, please if possible use the original box so that
the product is optimally packaged. Separate the packaging materials for
recycling according to their classification. Do not leave packaging materials
unattended, as they are a possible source of danger.
1.3.2 Produkt
Separate the raw materials used in the product for recycling according to
their classification (see material information under 2.1).
1.4 Where to store the Instructions for use
Please store these Instructions for use carefully and ensure that these
Instructions for use remain with the product in case of re-use.

05 2. Product description.
2.1 Material information
Main frame is made out of stainless steel, is corrosion-free and black pow-
dercoated. Frames of back-/headrest and lower leg support are made out
of aluminium, are corrosion-free and black powder-coated. The internal
structure of the snap-lock joints and the Bowden cable are made out of
stainless steel and are corrosion-free. The removable and washable fabric
consists of 100% polyester.
2.2 Handling / transport
Due to its low weight, basti. is easy to handle. You can lift the bathing chair
at any point. To transport the bathing aid bring all settings to the most com-
pact size.
2.3 Application areas, use according to the intended purpose
basti., the multifarious bathing and shower lying aid, suits solely for use in
bath tubs, showers, sandboxes and on the beach. It supports children and
youths without the capability of sitting upright unassisted and it gives ad-
ditional stability through straps. Use over and above that is not intended.
2.4 Use not in accordance with the intended
purpose / warning guidelines
• basti. should only be used by one child/youth at the same time.
• Neverleavechildunattendedonthebathingandshowerlyingaid.
• Correctuseofbasti. requires an prior instruction of the caregiver.
• Max.loadof75kgshouldnotbeexceeded.
• Neverusebasti. if any part is faulty, worn out or missing.
• Donotplacethechairnearanopenreorothersourcesofstrongheat,
such as electric bar fires, gas fires etc. due to the risk of fire.
• Donotuseanyaccessoriesorreplacementpartsnotmanufacturedby
Schuchmann, because this may aect your child’s safety.
• Donotusethechairunlessallcomponentsarecorrectlyttedand
adjusted.
• basti. is not suitable for the transport of persons.
• Userswithvisual,readingormentalimpairmentsmusthavesomeone
read these Instructions for use aloud so that they understand how to
use the walking aid.
• Ensurethatallaccessoriesarecorrectlyusedandcorrectlyadjustedfor
the user. Always position the accessories so that the weight of the user
is distributed between the castors.

2.8 General settings
With basti. every shower or bath becomes as easy as possible. Backrest and
lower leg support angles adjust easily into the desired and for the child com-
fortable position. Due to the foldable headrest even hair washing becomes
eortlessly. Thanks to the low seat height a minimum of water is necessary.
2.8.1 Adjustment of backrest
Backrest is adjustable from 90° to 180°. Pull loop
(A) on the back of the backrest and bring the
backrest into the desired position. After positi-
oning, release the loop and make sure, that the
snaplock joint latches.
For size 4 loosen the two stainless steel hinge
joints (B) to adjust the backrest.
2.8.2 Adjustment of headrest
Headrest (C) is adjustable from 0° to 90°. Push
simultaneously the buttons (D) on both sides
and bring the headrest (C) into the desired po-
sition. After positioning, release the loop and
make sure that the snap-lock joint latches.
2.8.3 Adjustment of lower leg support
Lower leg support (E) is adjustable from 0° to
90°. Push simultaneously the buttons (F) on both
sides and bring the lower leg support (E) into
the desired position. After positioning, release
the loop and make sure that the snap-lock joint
latches.
Make sure after positioning that the snap-lock
joint latches!

2.4 Mounting of chest harness
To mount the chest harness (A), place it at the
desired position around the backrest and fix
it with the Velcro closure on the back of the
backrest. In addition the width is adjustable
throughVelcroclosuresalongbothsides.
Settings and adjustments to the product or accessories may only be made
by people who have been given the necessary instructions by a medical
product advisor. Please ensure that none of the user‘s extremities are in the
respective area when making adjustments to avoid the risk of injury.

Mounting
To mount the head cushions (B), place them
at the desired position around the headrest

This special fabric (A) stabilises the seating
position of young children and provides the
basis for an upright position. The adjustable
tuber edge (B) also defines the seat.
Mounting
Bring the backrest almost in a parallel position
to the seating surface and pull the fabric over
theframe.FixitwiththeVelcroclosureunder-
neath the seating surface.
Make sure that all Velcro closures are closed!

Mounting
First insert the rear crossbar (A) of the bathing
aid into the rear seats (B) and then into the
locking seats of the underframe (C). Move the
bathing aid and make sure that it is correctly
locked in the base. The absorptions (B+ C) are
adjustable in width and can be adapted to
the respective sizes (see point 3.5).
To take out the bathing aid basti., you only
have to pull the drawstring (D) and take out
the bathing aid with the other hand.
Make sure that all Velcro closures are closed!
3.5 Adjustment of shower stand
The rear sockets (E) and the quick release locks
(F) must be placed dierent for the various si-
zes of basti..

12 4. Repairs and cleaning
4.1 Cleaning
Please clean all frame elements with a sponge or damp cloth. The covers
can be removed and washed at 40° in the washing machine; do not spin!
Please do not dry the cover in a dryer and do not use aggressive cleaning
agents or similar products. Please also pay attention to our general cleaning
and hygiene advice. You can find this at www.schuchmann.de/basti.
4.2 Repairs
Please carry out a daily visual inspection and check the bathing stretcher
regularly for cracks, breaks, missing parts and malfunctions. In case of a de-
fect or malfunction, please contact the specialist dealer who supplied you
with the product (see 7. 5 ).
4.3 Spare parts
Should you wish to order spare parts, please contact the specialist dealer
who supplied you with the bathing stretcher, stating the serial number (see
7. 5 ). Necessary spare parts and accessories must only be installed by trained
personnel.
4.4 Duration of use and re-use
The expected duration of use of our product, dependent on the usage in-
tensity and amount of re-use, totals up to „8“ years, providing the usage ta-
kes place in accordance with the information in these Instructions for use. It
may be possible to use the product over and above this time period if it is in
a safe condition. The expected duration of use does not refer to wear parts,
such as for example covers, wheels…… The maintenance and evaluation of
the condition, and if applicable the potential for re-use, must be decided
by the specialist trader. The bathing stretcher is suitable for re-use. Prior
to forwarding on, please follow the cleaning and disinfection instructions in
Chapter 4. Accompanying documents such as these Instructions for use are
part of the product and must be passed on to the new user. No disassembly
is required prior to re-use. In the case of storage, it is recommended to fold
the product to the smallest dimension to save space.

6. Guarantee
The two-year statutory guarantee period shall apply for all products. This
guarantee period shall begin with the delivery or handover of the goods.
Should a verifiable material or manufacturing fault occur within this time pe-
riod, we shall, after carriage paid return to us, view the indicated damage
and, if applicable, either repair or deliver a new product at our discretion.
