Purpose of this manual
This manual is an installation manual of RGB 4:4:4 Pro-
cessor Board HKSR-9003.
Intended for use by system and service engineers, this
manual describes information on installation of
HKSR-9003.
Related manual
Besides this installation manual, the following manual is

.Power off the unit and disconnect the power
cord or battery beforehand to avoid damage to
the circuit of the unit.
.Carry out the work on a protective sheet to
avoid scratches on the cabinet.
1. Loosen the six screws with stopper to detach
the top panel.
2. Disconnect the harness from the connector
CN103 on the SMB-26 board.
3. Loosen the four screws with stopper to detach
the battery panel.
4. Disconnect the harnesses from the connector
CN4 on the CR-51 board and the connector
CN10 on the RE-244 board.
5. Remove the four screws to detach the board
retainer in the arrow direction.

When installing the board retainer, insert it
into the two slits of the chassis and secure it
with the four screws.
6. Detach the board spacer.
7. Disconnect the harness (AXM-VPR) from the
connector CN3 on the AXM-37 board.

8. Insert the blade of a screwdriver as shown in
the figure and push the screwdriver in the
arrow direction to disconnect the VPR-101
board from the MB-1106 board.

The board name and a number of board
removing order are stamped on each board
bracket.
Example) To remove the SS-103 board
Remove the VPR, RE, and SS
boards in this order.
The VDA-69 board need not be
removed.

9. Draw the VPR-101 board approximately 30
mm out of the unit, and disconnect the har-
ness (AXM-VPR) from the connector CN600.
10. Loosen the screw with stopper to detach the
cable stopper (30P).
11. Disconnect the fine-wire coaxial cable from
the connector CN2100 on the VPR-101 board
using the cable stopper (30P). (Refer to
Section 1-4-1.)

.Disconnect the fine-wire coaxial cable
using the procedure described in Section
1-4-1.
.Never pull the fine-wire coaxial cable.
12. Loosen the screw with stopper to detach the
cable stopper (BNC).
13. Disconnect the fine-wire coaxial cable from
the connector CN2101 on the VPR-101 board
using the cable stopper (30P). (Refer to
Section 1-4-1.)
14. Loosen the screw with stopper to detach the
cable stopper (BNC-2).
15. When the HKSR-9001 is installed in the unit,
disconnect the three coaxial cables from the
connectors CN1012, CN1010, and CN1011
on the TR-139 board using the cable stopper
(BNC). (Refer to Section 1-4-2.)
16. Remove the VPR-101 board from the unit.

Be very careful so that the harnesses and
cables are not caught.

17. Remove the two screws to detach the dummy
plate (PR).
18. Remove the two nylon rivets securing the
heatsink (PR) assembly to the PR-318 board.
19. Check that radiation sheets (9 x12) are
attached to IC1000, IC1001, IC1003, IC1200,
and IC1202 on the PR-318 board.
20. Connect the connector CN100 on the PR-318
board to the connector CN2201 on the
VPR-101 board.
21. Install the heatsink (PR) assembly with the
supplied three screws.

22. Insert the VPR-101 board along the rails
shown in the figure to the position where the
VPR-101 board is drawn out of the unit about
30 mm.

Slowly insert the VPR-101 board straight.
23. When the HKSR-9001 is installed in the unit,
connect the three coaxial cables disconnected
in step 15 to the connectors CN1012,
CN1010, and CN1011 on the TR-139 board.
(Refer to Section 1-4-2.)
n
Match the colors of the coaxial cables with
the silk print R (Red), G (Gray), and B (Blue)
on the TR-139 board.
24. Arrange the three coaxial cables as shown in
the figure.
25. Hook portion A (three locations) of the cable
stopper (BNC-2) to the edge of the heatsink
(TR) assembly, and secure the cable stopper
with a screw with stopper.

26. Connect the fine-wire coaxial cable discon-
nected in step 13 to the connector CN2101 on
the VPR-101 board. (Refer to Section 1-4-1.)

Connect the fine-wire coaxial cable in the
way described in Section 1-4-1.
27. Hook the cable stopper (BNC) to the hook of
the VPR bracket.
28. While pushing the cable stopper (BNC) in the
arrow direction so that portion A of the cable
stopper is not put on the connector CN2101,
secure the cable stopper (BNC) with a screw
with stopper.
29. Connect the fine-wire coaxial cable discon-
nected in step 11 to the connector CN2100 on
the VPR-101 board. (Refer to Section 1-4-1.)
30. Hook the cable stopper (30P) to the hook of
the VPR bracket.
31. While pushing the cable stopper (30P) in the
arrow direction so that portion A of the cable
stopper is not put on the connector CN2100,
secure the cable stopper (30P) with a screw
with stopper.

32. Connect the harness (AXM-VPR) to the
connector CN600 on the VPR-101 board.
33. Arrange the harness (AXM-VPR) inside the
hooks of the two cable stoppers as shown in
the figure.
34. Push the VPR bracket to connect the
VPR-101 board to the MB-1106 board.
35. Arrange the harness and coaxial cables as
shown in the figure.
Clamp all the slacks of the coaxial cables
with the harness clamp as shown in the figure.
36. Install the removed parts by reversing steps 1
to 7.
37. Check that the HKSR-9003 has been recog-
nized with the SYSTEM menu. (Refer to Sec-
tion 1-5.)

1-4. Disconnecting/Connecting a Coaxial Cable
1-4-1. Fine-Wire Coaxial Cable (With the Connector)
Fine-wire coaxial cables are connected to the
following boards. Be sure to observe the discon-
necting and connecting procedures below to
prevent wire disconnection or poor contact.
.VPR-101 board

Disconnection
1. Remove the cable stopper (30P). (Refer to
Section 1-3.)
2. Hook portions A of the cable stopper (30P) to
the connector of the fine-wire coaxial cable,
and pull the connector straight in the arrow
direction to disconnect it.
n
Never pull the fine-wire coaxial cable.
Connection
1. Dry clean the contact surface with a wiping
cloth in the arrow a direction.
2. Hold both sides of the fine-wire coaxial cable
connector with the contact surface facing up.
3. Insert the connector straight to meet the angle
specified in Figure 1.

Insert the connector carefully so that the
connector guides are not caught by the edge
of the mating connector.

Coaxial cables are connected to the following
boards and connectors. Be sure to observe the
disconnecting and connecting procedures below
to prevent wire disconnection or poor contact.

Disconnection
1. Remove the cable stopper (BNC). (Refer to
Section 1-3.)
2. Hook the claws of the cable stopper (BNC) to
the plug of the coaxial cable, and pull the
plug straight in the arrow direction to discon-
nect it.

Never pull the coaxial cable.
Connection
1. Hold the plug of the coaxial cable.
2. Push the plug perpendicularly to the connec-
tor while slightly turning the plug clockwise
and counterclockwise.
NG Do not pull the cable.

Checking
1. Press the SYSTEM button.
2. Select “OTHERS” from the System Setup
menu, and press the ENTER dial.
The “Others” window appears.
3. Select “OPTION LIST” on the window, and
press the ENTER dial.
The “Option List” window appears.
4. Check that “9003:RGB Proc” is displayed on
the window.

The recognized options are displayed on the
“Option List” window.
If the optional board is not recognized, “No
Option is Installed.” appears on the “Option List”
window.
