WARNING

WARNING
It is important to comply with the following
points in the interest of personal safety.
Children may not play with the operating elements of
the control unit or the remote control. Store remote con-
trols out of reach of children.
Make sure that no persons or objects are in the path
of the driven parts (venetian blinds, external venetian
blinds, etc.).
Disconnect the device from the supply voltage if clean-
ing or other maintenance work must be performed.
Function of the sun shading actuator
These functions are integrated in the software.
You will find a detailed description in the KNXSASMI
software manual (art. no. 2024839). You can download
the manual and the product database of the sun shading
actuator from www.warema.de/knx or from the ETS online
catalogue.
Installation
Insert a slotted screwdriver into the respective cover
opening (Fig. 7) and carefully pry open the hinged cover.
Repeat the procedure for the second opening of the cover.
After both latches have been unlatched,
the cover can be removed. Open the second cover in the
same way. Alternatively, the surface-mounted model may
also be mounted on a DIN rail (TH35-15).
When installing, please note that the Up/Down
push button (manual override S1, S2) see
Fig. 5 must also be accessible in the device termi-
nal room after commissioning and allocation of the
motors.
General information

The KNXSA16M230.32 SMI AP and the
KNXSA16MDC.32SMILoVo AP sun shading actuators
are devices for the central operation of up to 16 SMI sun
shading drives in up to 16 groups.
The device is operated using a KNX bus system. The
sun shading actuator and the drives are supplied with
230VAC or 24VDC.
Either 4 motors per integrated miniature fuse or 16 mo-
tors without fuse protection can be connected to the SMI
interface.
Additionally, the switch actuator has 32 binary inputs which
can be programmed in ETS.
Intended use
The KNXSA16M230.32SMIAP and the
KNXSA16MDC.32 SMILoVo AP are electronic devices to
control sun shading products. The approval of the manu-
facturer must be obtained for any use of the device other
than its intended purpose specified in these instructions.
The sun shading actuator is intended for installation in
enclosed electrical operating facilities.
Safety instructions
WARNING
The electrical installation (assembly)/dis-
mantling must be performed by a certified
electrician in accordance with the electri-
cal installation regulations published by
the VDE Association for Electrical, Elec-
tronic & Information Technologies (VDE
0100) and/or in compliance with the stand-
ards and legal requirements of the country
in which the device is being installed. The
electrician must observe the installation
instructions included with the electrical
devices supplied.

Electrical connection
An on-site overload current protection device (fuse) and a
disconnecting and isolating switch to switch off the entire
system must be provided.
The electrical connection is made as shown in the wiring
diagram on the reverse side (Fig. 8 or Fig. 9), the connec-
tion to the KNX bus system and the drives is made using
spring terminals, the connecting lines are designed as
screw terminals.
Commissioning
After the installation has been completed and the operating
voltages have been applied, the correct drive connection
can be operated using a push button (Fig. 5).
(Recommended: slotted screwdriver blade 3.0 - 4.0mm)

(art. no. 2024839).
Commissioning WAREMA KNX SMI actuators always takes
place in the ETS.
The SMI Key IDs are searched for via an automatic motor
search and assignment in the smartphone or the ETS DCA
app. Manual input of the SMI Key ID is possible, but not
necessary.
The app can read out and acknowledge the SMI motors
error list, display the status of the binary inputs or teach in
reversing pulses.

Local operation via App / Bluetooth (LE)
You will find the app for operating the KNX sun shading ac-
tuator in the Apple AppStore and in the Google Play Store.
Download this to your smartphone.
After starting the app, the surrounding area is scanned for
WAREMA
sun shading actuators. Available actuators are shown and
can be operated. Operation via app has the same prior-
ity as manual operation via group objects. The operating
behaviour is as follows:
Brief push of the button = Stop move command
Long push of the button = Up/Down move command.
A detailed description of the operation is integrated in the
app and can also be found in the associated KNXSASMI
software manual (art. no. 2024839). If a motor has not
been allocated to an output, these can only be operated
via SMI Broadcast.
The communication between the smartpe and the
KNX devices is established via Bluetooth. This func-
tion can be switched off using the ETS (in default
mode, the function is always "On").
During parameterisation, change the default pass-
word in accordance with your specifications and
memorise your password in order to prevent opera-
tion by unauthorised persons.

The manual override operation, a push button on the
device, has the highest priority and overrides all KNX com-
mands (even the safety objects).
The operating behaviour is the same as the "KNX behav-
iour":
Brief push of the button = Stop,
Long push of the button = Movement.

Programming
You can perform programming either in the app or directly
on the device.
There is a Prog button for programming and a display LED
both in the app and on the keypad (see Fig. 6).
The procedure here is basically the same:
 Press the programming button in the app or on the
device (Fig. 6) to put the device into programming
mode. The red LED lights up when programming mode
is active. Programming is performed using the ETS on
the PC. This software ends the programming mode
automatically. The red LED goes out.
 If the programming mode is to be ended earlier, press
the programming button again. The red LED goes out.

Maintenance
There are no parts inside the device that require mainte-
nance.
Cleaning
Clean the housing with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use deter-
gents, cleaning agents, solvents, abrasive substances or
steam cleaners!
Liability
Failure to comply with the product information in these in-
structions and any use of the device other than its intended
use may result in the manufacturer refusing to honour
warranty claims for product damage. In this case, liability
for consequential damage to persons or property will also
be excluded. Observe the information in the operating
instructions for your sun shading system. The automatic
or manual operation of the sun shading system while
iced over as well as using the sun shading system during
severe weather may cause damage and must be prevented
by the user through suitable precautions.
Obligations for the disposal of electrical
devices
A marking with this symbol indicates the following
obligations under the scope of legal regulations:

 The owner of this electrical device must dispose of it
separately from unsorted municipal waste for further
recycling.
 Used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed
in the old device, as well as lamps/bulbs that can be
removed from the old device without breaking, must be
disposed of separately.
 Distributors of electrical devices and disposal compa-
nies are obliged to take back the equipment free of
charge.
 The owner must take it upon themselves to delete any
personal data contained in the electrical device prior to
disposal.
