THE BASICS
Welcome to the Yealink T42S user guide. This document has been created to assist users with nding
the answers to some of the most basic, as well as a few advanced funcons the T42S has to oer. With
the help of this guide, users will be able to operate and navigate this device with great condence. Let’s
get started with the basic funcons.
Handset:
Pick up the Handset.
Speakerphone:
Press the Speaker key.
Headset:
Press the Headset key or if there is an pickup buon on your headset, you can press it.
Answering a Call
To make an internaonal call:
Dial the internaonal call code.
Dial the country code.
Dial the local number.
Internaonal calling is commonly disallowed to prevent toll fraud.
Making International Calls
Handset:
Pick up the handset. Dial the number, and then press the Send so key.
Speakerphone:
With the handset on-hook, press the Speaker key. Dial the number, and press the Send so key.
Headset:
With the headset connected, press the Headset key to acvate the headset mode. Dial the number, and
press the Send so key.
Note: Calls to the US and Canada are all dialed using 10 or 11 digits.
Placing a Call

A transfer can also go to an external number such as another company’s desk phone or a cell phone. Follow
the transfer procedure directly above, but instead of dialing an extension, dial a 10-digit phone number.
Transfers to External Numbers
Note: A blind transfer immediately goes directly to the recipient.
To begin a blind transfer, press the Transfer key.
Dial the extension of the recipient.
Press Transfer or B Transfer to complete.
Blind Transfer
Note: An aended transfer allows you to place your caller on hold to speak with the transfer recipient, prior
to compleng the transfer.
To begin an aended transfer, press the Transfer key/so key during a call.
Dial the recipient’s extension or press their BLF.
Speak with the recipient as needed, and when ready, press Transfer again to complete. You can also cancel
the transfer by pressing Cancel if needed.
Attended Transfer
Extensions on your system can be dialed using their 3-4 digit extension or by pressing the buon on your
phone corresponding to the desired extension.
Extension Dialing
Your OneCloud UCaas PBX features various ways to move calls around, including aended transfer, blind
(unaended) transfer, voicemail transfer, park, and more. In this secon, references to BLFs are the 1-touch
buons to extensions common at front-desk phones.
Handling Calls
Note: VoIP phones provide an intercom feature that allows you to instantly connect to other phones within
your oce. Intercom funconality is ideal for announcing visitors or asking a quick queson.
When one phone intercoms another extension, it does not ring the other phone. Instead, the other phone
will beep, and then its microphone and speaker turn on.
To intercom, start by dialing 08ext. For example, to intercom extension 9999, dial 089999.

Enter *55 + the extension you want to transfer the voicemail to.
Press the “B Transfer” so key to complete the transfer.
Voicemail Transfer
On your phone system, hold is a local funcon. This means a call held on your phone cannot be picked up at
another staon. Park is a system-wide funcon. This means a call parked at one phone may be picked up by
any phone.
To place a call on Park:
Dial 9xx during an acve call from any phone. Note: xx is the registered park number within your system. The
system says, “The call is parked at 90xx.” Then hang up.
To retrieve a Parked call:
Pick up the handset or press Speaker, dial 90 and the registered park number.
Park & Hold
Directed call pickup allows you to answer a call ringing at another staon.
To perform a directed call pickup, start by dialing 07 followed by the extension that belongs to the phone
that’s ringing. For example, if extension 9999 is ringing, dial 079999 to answer for that phone.
Phones with BLFs to the ringing staon can also press the corresponding BLF.
Directed Call Pickup
To begin a 3-way conference call, you must be on an acve call already. Start by calling or receiving a call
from the rst parcipant in the conference.
Press the Conference key/so key. This places the rst call on hold.
Dial the number of the second parcipant, and then press the Send so key.
Press the Conference so key again when the second party answers to connect everyone.
All pares are now in the conference.
Press the End Call so key to disconnect all pares.
Note: You can split the conference call into two individual calls by pressing the Swap so key.
3-Way Conferencing
From your desk phone:
Press the Messages buon on your phone or dial 5001 if you prefer to do so.
Note: If you subscribe to mulple mailboxes, a list of mailboxes may appear. Select the mailbox you want to
access.
When prompted, enter your voicemail password, and then press #.

Note: It is very important to make a custom message, as many callers will not leave messages at mailboxes
that have generic greengs.
The rst me you log into your mailbox, you will need to record your name and a personal greeng.
The name recording is for the dial-by-name directory, so when someone enters the rst three leers of your
last name, it will play back your name recording.
The greeng plays when your mailbox is reached by a caller.
Setting Up Your Mailbox
Your mailbox supports mulple greengs for dierent scenarios like business trips and holidays.
To record an alternate greeng:
Go to your mailbox’s main menu. Press 6 for greengs, and then press 1 to record an alternate greeng.
When prompted for the greeng number press 2 for your next alternate greeng (1 is your default greeng).
Aer your recording is completed, select the acve greeng by selecng opon 3 in the greengs menu.
Alternate Greetings
Dial 5000.
When prompted, enter the other person’s extension number.
Enter the voicemail password of the other person’s mailbox, followed by #.
