The2NOfficeRoutegatewaysprovidedirect
interconnectionofVoIP,GSMandUMTSnetworks
withthesupportofSIPsignalling protocol.
Thevoicemode,i.e.anoutgoingorincoming call,is
thebasicfunctionofthesystem.Thegatewayis
equippedwithallfunctionsnecessaryforsuchuse
andprovidesaveryhighcomfortinthismode.
Thedatamode,i.e.HSPA/EDGE/GPRSdatarouter,
givesapossibilitytouse2NOfficeRouteasarouter,
firewall andDNSproxy.ItalsohasaDHCPserver
functionality.Thereisalsoveryuniquefeature–
VRRP+(virtualrouterredundancyprotocol)soit
canserveasaback-up routeofyourinternet
connectivity.
Inadditiontovoice transmission,2NOfficeRoutecan
sendandreceiveshorttextmessages.Itisgiving
youanoptiontointegrateSMSfunctionalitytoyou
emailclient(i.e. MSOutlook).
2NOfficeRoutecontainsaninbuiltSIPproxyserver
andcanthusserveasanIPPBXforSIPtelephones.
Noextraequipment(anexternalGSMtelephone,etc.)
isneededfornormaloperation.All programmable
parametersaredefault-presetinsuchamannerthat
youcancommence yourtelephonetrafficthe
momentyouconnecttheEthernetandsupplycables,
antennaandSIMcardandsettheIPparameters.
2.1 Howto SaveTelephone Costs
Youareadvisedtousethe mostadvantageoustariff
ofyourGSMprovider foryourUMTS/GSMcalls.
Youcanbarselectednumbersorgroupsofnumbersin
yourgateway. Youshallpay nothingforthecalls
youhavebarred.
2NOfficeRoutekeepsdetailedrecordsonall calls.
Thishelpsyou find outeasilywhy yourbill is
higherthanitshouldbe.
TheLeastCostRouterisflexibleenoughtohelpyou
setrulesfor GSM/UMTS/SIPcallingatthelowest

telephonesbecausethedevice isusuallyusedby
manypeopleandthusemployedmoreoften.

Besuretouseonlythemainssupplyadapterthatis
includedinthisdevice delivery.
Beforeplugging inthedevice,makesurethatthe
mainsvoltagevaluemeetsthedatagivenonthe
mainsadapterlabel.
Furthermore,makesurethattheantennahasbeen
connected.Ifyouconnectthedevice tothepower
supplywithoutanantenna,theUMTS/GSMmodule
transmittermightgetdamaged.
Nowplug thesupplyadapterintoamainssocketand
connecttheadapterconnectortothedevice,. The
statusindicatorsindicatetheproperoperation.For

ToinsertyourSIMcardinthedevice,press theyellow
buttonontheappropriatecarddrawerwithasuitable
tooltomakethedrawerslideoutalittle.Removethe
drawer, inserttheSIMcardandreplacethedrawer. You
cannotreplaceSIMcardsevenwithyourdevice on.

3.8 PC Connection
Youneeddirectinterconnectionofyour2N
OfficeRoutegatewayandPCespeciallywhenyoudo
notknowthegatewayIPaddress andthuscannot
configureitusing awebbrowser.Insuchacase,
connectthegatewaydirectlytoyourPCUSBportwith
thecableenclosedandselectthebasicnetwork
parametersusingyourconsoleinterface.
Youcancontroltheconsoleinterface withanyterminal-
emulatingprogramaccordingtotheVT-100
specificationatleast.TheMicrosoftWindowsOS,e.g.,
containsacommunicationtool HyperTerminal,which
canbeusedforthispurpose.
Bydefault,thegatewayserialportcommunication
parametersaresetat921,600 bitspersecond,8data
bits,noparity,1stopbit,noflowcontrol.Setthe
communicationprogramonthePCsideidentically.

3.9 Status Indicators
ThereisapanelwithfiveLEDsonthegatewayupper
cover.ThePower indicatorsignalsthatthegatewayas
awholeisinoperation.TheotherLEDs,marked CH1
to CH4,indicatethestatus ofeachmodule.
3.9.1 Power Indicator
Basicdiagnostictestsareperformedautomatically
wheneverthegatewayisconnectedtosupplyvoltage.
Eachteststepissignalledbyaspecificcolour
combinationoftheLEDs.Thetestingprocess isusually
shorterthan0.5sec andsoitlookslikeaquick
sequenceofLEDflashesatfirstsight.If,however,a
teststepfails,theindicatorcombinationrelatedtothe
failedtestremainslighted.Thisprovidesaconvenient
troubleshootingtooltothetechnicalsupportpersonnel.
Afterall hardwaretestshavebeencompleted
successfully,theoperatingsystemkernelisloaded.
Duringtheprocess, all moduleindicatorsareoffandthe
bluecontinuous Power lightblinkswiththeperiodof
approximately1second.
Whentheoperatingsystemkernelhasbeenloaded,the
blue Power indicatorkeepsshining continuously.
Inexceptionalcases,whenafatalfailureofsoftware
occursandthegatewaystopsworking,the Power
indicatorstartsflashing quickly.Allyoucandois
disconnectthegatewayfromthepowersupplyforafew
secondsandrestartit.

3.9.2 GSM Indicators
The CH2 to CH4 indicatorssignalthestatusofthe
respectiveGSMmodule.Afterconnectiontothepower
supply,theVoIPgatewayapplicationstartswithintwo
minutes.Duringthattime,theinstalledGSMmodules
andSIMcardsaredetected.IfaGSMmoduleorSIM
cardisnotdetected,therespectiveindicatorremains
off.
Iftheyaredetected,theprocess ofmoduleandSIM
cardinitialisationiscommenced.Therespective
indicatorshinesredduringtheprocess.Iftheprocess is
unsuccessful,theLEDgoesoff.Iftheindicatorturns
orange,itmeansthatthemodulehasnotlogged-into
anyGSMnetwork.
IftheLEDisgreen,youcanmakecallsandsendSMS
viatherespectivemodule.
TherespectivemoduleLEDblinksgreenquicklyduring
call establishing.Whentheconnectionhasbeenbuilt
successfully,theindicatorremainsgreenduring the
wholecall.

Assoonastherequestedinformationisentered,the

twoconstantvalues.Byselectingsuchanitemyou
immediatelymakeitsvalueoppositetothatpreceding
theselection.Typicalexamplesare on and off

Somecommandsexecuteoperationsthathaveaserious
impactonthebehaviouroftheentiresystem(suchas

totheterminal(sometimesyoumustpress Enter).
Configurationmenu: Containssixsubmenus:network
configuration,serialconsolesettings,commandline,
states, rebootandsettings.
Networkconfiguration: Usedforsettingthegateway
IPaddress, networkmask,initialrouter, DNSaddresses,
networknameanddomain.
Serialconsoleconfiguration: Helpssettheterminal
typeandchangetheinitialseriallink parameters–
transitionrate,dataandstopbits,parityandflow
controltype.
Command line: Allowsyou toset/changebasic
telephonysettings–lcr, routes, sip, devices, calls, disa.
States: Therearestatesofdevices(strengthofsignal,
registerstatus, etc.)andcalls.
Reboot: Thisoptionrestarts thedevice.
Settings: DHCPandVRRPserversettings.
