2.1.ProperLocation
•EasyGateUMTSDataisdesigned forverticalmountingon suspensionholes(use
the mounting pattern).Thisposition isthe bestforsignalreception becausea
verticalantenna isused.EasyGateUMTSDatacan be operatedinthe horizontal
positiontoo wherethe UMTSsignalisgood.
•Install EasyGateUMTSDatawithrespecttotheUMTSsignalstrength.
•PlaceEasyGateUMTSDataoutofrange ofsensitivedevicesand human bodiesfor
electromagneticinterferencereasons.
•Fortheallowed rangeofoperatingtemperaturesrefertothe“Technical
Parameters”.
•It isimpossibletooperateEasyGateUMTSDataon placesexposed todirectsolar
radiation ornearheat sources.
•EasyGateUMTSDataisdesigned forindooruse.It maynotbe exposed torain,
flowing water, condensed moisture, fog, etc.

Screwthe antenna enclosed intothe SMAantenna connector.Tightenthe antenna
connectorgentlywithyourhand -neverusewrenches!
The antenna enclosed hasasufficientgainfortrouble-free operationinnormal
conditions.IftheUMTSsignalispoororyouwanttoplaceyourantenna separately
fromEasyGateUMTSData,you can usean antenna withan SMA-connector
terminated cable. Theantenna shouldbe mounted vertically.
The Antenna shallbelocatedwithinthe samebuildingasthemainequipment.
Forantennaand cableparameterssee the “TechnicalParameters“.
2.3.USIMCardInstallation
Usethe modernUSIMcardsdesignedforUMTSnetworks toavoidproblems
Open the USIMcardholderon EasyGateUMTSData’sbackside,inserttheUSIM
cardand closeit. Selecttherequired UMTSproviderand USIMcardservices,suchas
callforwarding,call barring,preferred networks,SMSservicecentre,etc.inyourmobile
phone beforeinsertingyourUSIMcardinEasyGateUMTSData.

UMTSDatapowersupplyconnectorhavetobemaintained.
Donotactivatethe powersupplyuntil the antenna isconnected toEasyGateUMTS
Datatoavoidthe UMTSmoduledamage.
2.7.PCConnection
USB cableforPCconnection isincluded.You can useitforhigh speedinternetaccess
(using HSDPA),forGPRSaccess orforCSDconnection.Included serialcablecan be
used onlyforprogramming and firmwareupgrade ofEasyGateUMTSData.The serial
cableisamodemcablewhereall of the 9pinsare1:1interconnected –incaseyou wanted
touseanother,longercable.Makesurethatalongercableworks properlytoavoiderrors
at high transmission rates.

Data, networkLEDindicatesthe stateand thePINtone istransmitted on telephoneline.
4.1.PINEnteringbyPCManager
Likeotherparameters,the PINcodecan beenteredusing aPCprogramming tool.
The PINwillbe entered automaticallyuponnext EasyGateUMTSDatapowerup.
4.2.PINEnteringviaTelephoneLine
ToenterthePINviaatelephone lineusing theDTMF:
1.Hookoff thetelephone, youcan hearthe PINtone.
2.Enterthe PINusing the DTMF;tocancelthe wrong PINhang up before
sending a .
3.Toconfirmentera .
4.If you hearthe busy tone inawhile(afewseconds), you haveentered the PIN
correctly. Hookon and wait forregisteringtothe UMTS/GSMnetwork.
5.If youhearthePINtone againinawhile,youhaveenteredawrongPIN.Re-
enterthePIN.
6.If you hearthe PUKtone inawhile,you haveentered awrong PINand the
USIMcardisblocked. Usethemobilephonetounblock theUSIMcard.
Acorrectlyentered PINisstoredinEasyGateUMTSData’smemoryasifyou had
programmed itusingthePCManager.ThePINwill be entered automaticallyupon the
next EasyGateUMTSDatapowerup.
4.3.AutomaticPINEntering
You need notenterthePINuponpowerup if it isstored inEasyGateUMTSData–it
isentered automatically.Thisfunction isconvenientincaseofpowerfailure;EasyGate
UMTSDataisoperableinashorttimeafterpowerrecoverywithoutanyinterventionby
the operating staff.
Caution! One PINentering option isexhausted bythe attempttoenterthe PN
automaticallyuponUSIMcardorPINchange.If wrong, the automaticallyenteredPINis
cleared fromthe internalmemorytoavoidanotherfalseattemptupon nextpoweron.
Therearestill twomanualPIN-enteringattemptsaftersuchunsuccessfulautomatic
entering.Topreventthe unsuccessfulautomaticPINentering,deleteorprogram
properlytheEasyGateUMTSDataPINusing the PCManagerinthe caseofUSIMcard
change.

5.Voicefunction
Outgoing and incoming callestablishing proceduresforan analog telephoneare
describedforillustration.The proceduresarethe sameforthe EasyGateUMTSData-
PBX connection,justremembertoprogramcall routing toEasyGateUMTSData
properly.Check EasyGateUMTSData’sfunction byconnecting atelephone before.
SupposethataUSIMcardhasbeeninserted,the PINcode entered ornotrequired
the antenna connected and EasyGateUMTSDataregistered toUMTS/GSMnetwork–
the networkLEDispermanentlyon andyou can hearthe dialtone upon off-hook.
5.1.Outgoing Call
1.Hookoff thetelephone, youcan hearthe dialtone and the LineLEDstartsflashing.
2.Dialthe required UMTS/GSMsubscribernumber.SinceEasyGateUMTSData
receivestone dialing bydefault, selectthe DTMFmode.If yourtelephone transmits
pulsedialing only,programEasyGateUMTSDatatoreceivepulsedialing.The
delaybetween digitstobe dialed maynotexceed 5s(programmableparameter).The
numberisevaluated ascompleteand transmitted tothe networkafterthistimeout.
3.Ashortdelayfollowsthe last-dialed digitforEasyGateUMTSDatatoawaitfurther
dialing. Then, thedialing end issignaledand connection isestablished.
4.If the called subscriberisavailable,you can hearthe ringing tone.If not, you can
hearthebusy tone oranyofthe provider’smessages.
5.Whenthe called subscriberanswersthecall,acallisestablished.The Line LEDis
permanentlyonduringthe call.
6.Hang up toterminatethe call.The Line LEDgoesoff. If the called subscriberisthe
firsttohang up,you canhearthe busy toneand hang up.
5.2.Incoming Call
1.Ringing signalsan incoming call.TheLine LEDflashesduring ringing.If
programmed so, EasyGateUMTSDatatransmitsthe CLIPbyFSK between the first
and secondrings. Advanced telephonesetsareabletodisplaytheCLI.
2.Hookoff the phone toestablishthe call.TheLine LEDispermanentlyon during the
call.
3.Hang up toterminatethe call.The Line LEDgoesoff. If the called subscriberisthe
firsttohang up,you canhearthe busy toneand hang up.

5.3.AutomaticCall("BabyCall")
If the BabyCall function isenabled,apre-programmed periodoftimeiscounted
downafteroff-hook.If you do notstartdialingwithinthistimeout, EasyGateUMTSData
signalsdialing endandstartsestablishingacalltothepre-programmed number
automatically–fromnowon EasyGateUMTSDatabehavesasifastandardoutgoing
callhad beenestablished. Anydialing during the BabyCalltimeout cancelsthisfunction
and astandardoutgoing callcan be made.
5.4.Tariffpulses16or12kHz
EasyGateUMTSDatahastariff pulsetransmitter.You can usetariff pulsesfor
outgoing callpricing.EasyGateUMTSDataofferpseudo tariff only–tariff metering
doesn’tcorrespond torealpriceofcall,tariff pulsesaretransmitted according to
programmed parametersand callduration.You mustprogramspecificparametersin
calltabletoset tariffmetering fordifferentprefixesof dialed numbers.
You can alsoprogramEasyGateUMTSDatatotransmittariffpulsesascall
connect/disconnectsignaling ifyourPBX cannotreceivetelephoneline polaritychange
signaling.
5.5.Configuration ofnetworkservices
EasyGateprovidessomeofnetworkservicestoimprovepossibilityofusage.The
configuration isdonebystandardStar-Hashcodesyou canknowfrommobilephones.

You can useHSDPA orGPRSinternetaccess orCSDconnection when connecting
YourEasyGateUMTSDATAwithPCviaUSBinterface.
6.1.USBinterfacedriversinstalation
It isneededtoinstallUSB modemdriversforproperlyfunction ofUSB interface.
When the gatewayisconnected withPCforthefirst timethe Windowsoperating system
willfind automaticallythe newhardware.Choosethe Find driversinPCoption and set
the drivers’directorypath.Themodemdriversareon included CD indirectory
Data\EasyGate\Modemdriver.FirstYou need tounzipthe file 3GUSB Modem
Drivers.zip on Yourharddrive.Choosetoinstalldriversanywaywhen warning “driver’s
manufacturerisunknown”or“the driverisnotsigned”appears.You shouldinstall
driversforthe following devices:
-Telit HSDPA USB Modem
-Telit Diagnostics Interface
-Telit AuxiliaryPort
All thisdevicescan be found inwindowsdevicemanager(inModemssection and
Ports(COMand LPT)section).If the Windowsfunction ofautomaticallyhardware
changesfinding isdisabled open Windowsdevicemanager,findnewhardwarewithout
drivers(marked withorange exclamation mark),click on itwithrightmousebutton and
chooseinstall driveroptions.Followthe instructionsuptoinstalldriversforallthree
interfaces.
6.2.Connectionsettingsandstart
Forinternetconnection createnewtelephone modemconnectionsusing Telit
HSDPA USB modem.Set up the modemusinginformation fromYourmobileoperator.
6.3.CombinationofUSBtrafficwithvoicecalls
WhenusingHSDPA internetaccess thevoicecallsarenot affected.You can usethe
gatewayforHSDPA connectionand voicecallsatthesametime.When using GPRS
connection the gatewayisnotaccessibleforincoming calls,outgoing callsinterruptthe
GPRSconnection. AftercallendstheGPRSconnection isrenewed.
7.COM–SerialInterface
The completeserialinterfaceRS-232Con a9-pinconnectorisidenticalwithany
externalmodem.
The transmissionrateis115200bps.Donotchange it.(EasyGateUMTSData
doesn’tsupportsautobauding.).Thetransmission setup mustbe 8bits,no parityand
one STOPbit (8N1).
EasyGateUMTSData’scentralprocessorusesthesameinterfaceforestablishing
callsand soitmusthavethepossibilitytoblock an externalserialinterface-all PCSW
mustprovide transmissionhardwareflowcontrol(HWhandshaking).COMcanbe used
forEasyGateUMTSDataprogramming

•Orusethe DTMFprogramming on atelephone line.Notallfunctionscanbe setin

8.1.TelephoneLinebasedProgramming
1.Hookoff thetelephone,you canhearthedialtone orthe busy tone,andtheLine
LEDstartsflashing.
2.Entertheservicepassword(12345bydefault, can be changed)withtheDTMF;to
cancelawrong passwordhang up beforesendingthe character.
3.Toconfirmpasswordentera .
4.If you haveentered acorrectpassword,you heartheconfirmation tone.Ifnot, the
dialednumbermaybe senttothe networkasacall.Topreventthis,hang upwhen
you do not hearthe confirmation tone.
5.EasyGateUMTSDatashallremaininthe programming mode untilhang-up.
6.Enterthe numberofthe parametertobe programmed and press a .If the
parameternumberiscorrect,you can heartheconfirmationtone,ifnot,you getthe
refusaltone andcan re-entertheparameternumber.
7.When the parameternumberisconfirmed,enterthe allowed parametervalue and
press a .If the parametervalue isintheallowed range,youcan hearthe saving
tone,ifnot, you getthe refusaltone.You canenteranotherparameternumberin
eithercase.
Numericparametersareprogrammed using numbersinunitsincluded inthe
parameterdescription. ForYES/NO parametersuse forYES and forNO.
Tocancelanyprogramming step intheprogramming mode,press a .Having
done so,you can hearthe refusaltone and can enteranewparameternumber.
